      That ain't no joke. I bought a box of snacks from China and literally everything was bland. Some things had so little flavor that they were almost tasteless.

    I think Korean snacks carried forward more savory flavors with light sweetness as culture evolved while Japan made things a bit sweeter without as much savory, something that Americans who grew up with American candies might be more accustomed to. I grew up with Korean food and I loved it, but sometimes a good Japanese candy was a treat. More sugary like American snacks
    Edit: wasabi seaweed! That stuff's the best. Hard to find it around here but it's definitely my favorite flavor.

      Ironically Korean food has a lot of sugar in it when it comes to snacks and stuff they have so many sweet flavored things here like Doritos here the cheese is sweet flavored or nacho cheese

    Great vid!! Day 12 of asking Tyler to start a series similar to wish Wednesday where he goes to Dollar Tree and tests all of their off brands compared to the actual brands (tapes, glues, locks, charging cables, ect.) You could call it frugal fridays!

    The seaweed gives me an idea! You should buy some MSG (monosodium glutamate, it is derived largely from seaweed) which is a type of sodium salt that increases the intensity of umami flavors and try adding it to random food dishes! Love the content!

    I’ve noticed that jellied things are really big in those places, and it’s not like fruit jelly usually either, or even necessarily sweet jelly, it’s odd and sometimes makes me think a snack has turned but really it’s just the cultural flavors, Americans are used to really sweet candies

    My only memories of Korea are the visa office, chicken and beer and -15°C temp in winter when my stupid ass was prepared for similar Hong Kong weather 😂😂 (no idea how I got that so wrong!)

    I lived in South Korea for a year and loved ALL the food there. The candies or snacks are SO unique. They're very big on natural flavors/foods. I highly recommend everyone go to South Korea at least once in their life and attend their festivals.

    6:52 That is a Japanese snack lol, why the heck is it in the Korean box... it says アモンド クラッカーパックタイプ which translates to "almond cracker pack type" but they completely mispelled Almond in Japanese, it's supposed to be アーモンド... I am guessing, due to the mispelled word in Japanese, that this snack is made in Korea, kinda like America makes Mexican snacks here.

      @@Zekumas that's not true, Durian is readily available in most countries. If you go to the local Asian Supermarket you might even find Fresh, whole Durian! It's very expensive though, and has an acquired taste.

    When it comes to dried seaweed you'll find that it does a lot to help a simple cup of basic ramen soup. It adds a lot of body to the soup.

    As someone who grew up in korea this brings back a lot of childhood memories but I was disappointed that there was no pepero like there's literally a holiday all about pepero in korea (Nov 11th pepero day )so I'm kinda surprised that there where no pepero in a korean snack box

    Korean snacks are very bland, lived there 2 years and learned alot about food and culture. They dont add alot of sugar to the snacks my favorite thing from there is the mango pops frozen mango popsicles
