Great review, I have the Metaspeed Edge plus. Just had a couple of runs in it. Definitely not a Vaporfly. I do get a bit of slapping of the foot but MUCH less than the Novablast 3 which I hated.. They are more stable which helps my Achilles Tendon.. Will definitely get the MagicSpeed 3.. I got the Edge plus now for €180.. Did order the Adidas Pro 3 but the mail is so slow... Takumi sen 9 to narrow for me... I am 42.5 in the Superblast and Novablast 3 but 43.5 in the Metaspeed Edge plus and they have amazing fit.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว

I remember the Metaspeed Edge being flappy as well. Also it definitely was not a Vaporfly, or even close.
I can say the MS3 is not soapy at all. It is very well mannered.
The fit on the MS3, of you go up a half size, is not like the TS9… TTS… it’s is as narrow but shorter. I like a race fit so it didn’t bother me.
I do find the MS3 fits my foot better than the TS9… and the TS9 fit is solid for me.

Wow! Interesting how much better this works for you than the Novablast. It seems like that Blast+ just does better when it's paired with a plate or another foam (like the Superblast or Glideride). I am so intrigued by all the plated trainers. Endorphin Speed is my favorite, and I know I want to try the Deviate...but then these reviews come out, and I want to buy all the shoes. 😂

Super good video again. I just have a question. How fast do you run a marathon? (strava profile🤔) I do a lot of shoe testing. One thing I have learned. There is a lot of difference in how shoes feel depending on the pace you run in them.

First of all, I just want to start by saying sorry for writing to you again😳. It's perfectly fine if you don't have the time and desire to answer👍🙂 As I wrote to you, I am also a shoe/data geek. I have made a small TH-cam channel. But not at all on the same level as yours. The primary purpose of my channel is to do data-based testing. The way I do it now is as follows. most of my tests take place on a Techno Gym treadmill. Which is made to simulate running outside so it doesn't have very much shock absorption. Plus the conditions are always the same. I use heart rate data at different speeds. Just completed a test today between. New Balance More V4, Asics Nimbus 25 and New Balance SuperComp Trainer. 2 km with 10.5 - 12.5 - 14 - 16 km/h and 1.5 km with 18.5 km/h. run example 2 km at 10.5 km/h change shoes plus a break of about 5 minutes and run again 10.5 Km/h in another pair. Afterwards I see the difference in the pulse. Which shoe is most effective. I use two heart rate monitors so that the data is as correct as possible. I have also used Power (watts) But the data was too imprecise. Now comes my question to you. Do you think there are any things I can do to make the test even more accurate. I know if I had a lab available the test would be more accurate. But unfortunately I don't have that. Sorry for my long message. But just thought you're the best to ask🤔

Thanks for the kind words on my channel. I’m very small and growing… but have lots of room to grow. This running space on TH-cam is interesting and there is lots of room for new voices in it. Keep it up!

It’s likely the best tempo trainer ever made.

Just received the MS3. Being a Novablast 3 / Alphafly 2 user, the MS3 were uncomfortable and definitely not cushioned, which also gave me pain in my calves. Second session, speed workout intervals, the shoe felt better, and I think the foam is breaking in as well. So already the shoe feels more comfortable than it did initially. Regarding the fit, I purchased my usual size without going up half a size, 46 Euro size. There is about 1cm space between my toe and the edge of the forefoot toe box. Though the shoe is on the narrow side, and my heel and outer foot definitely stretches the upper material, and maybe even hangs out a bit. I hear a lot that low stack racer shoes should be a tighter fit, could someone guide me with some comparisons between regular fitting shoes/trainers to racers? Is my description of my MS3 fit correct and fine for a racer (5k - 10k) or should I still go up half a size? My MS3 doesn't feel tight, but it is definitely snug, especially on the sides.

It's a Metaspeed upper and a rather low-stack FF Blast + mid with a carbon plate. The Superblast is a better all around shoe. This is a better speed day shoe. But the Superblast can do speed days better than the Magicspeed can do long runs, recovery/easy runs, and everything else. This shoe has it's place in a rotation, but can't be a stand-alone shoe, which kind of narrows down the target consumer. It's not for everyday walk-around-town use. It's not for every-day runners. I have it, it's a great shoe for Strides and Intervals, but I don't dare take it out for anything else. I race with the Metaspeed Sky+ and use the Nimbus 25 for easy days, Superblast for long runs.

As for durability… it depends on what you find acceptable. I’ve put 300-400kms on a pair of VF2s (usually about 100kms of racing and 200kms + for training). Normally I’d retire VF2s around 250km though, it’s honestly rare for me to run any shore further than that.
Now I’d you are a heel striker your durability may differ as well.
I can’t speak to the long term durability of the MS3, it’s just too new. FFBlast+ is more durable than ZoomX and the outsole on the MS3 offers more protection… but again the VF2 is a much faster and better shoe all around, especially for racing and tempo training.

@@SagasuRunning how about takumi sen 9, compared to this magic speed 3 performance wise, ride feel (softer/firmer, etc) thanks for your insight, i found your videos to be very helpful 🙏

My initial thoughts on the MS3 is that it is better than the TS9 for training and racing half/full marathons (as I said in my video). The TS9 is a better short interval and speed workout shoe.
Glad my content is useful for you!👍🏻

@@SagasuRunning just made it all the way through the end of video, as you said this shoe is the best uptempo trainer youve had for a while, would be interesting to see you make one comparison with takumi sen, endorphin speed, streakfly, etc

IMO this shoe feel A LOT like the Endorphin Speed 1, just with stiffer plate. Weight, foam energy return, snug fit, & a bit unstable - almost exactly like the Speed 1.

That is the last Saucony I ran in… though, at the time, I found it too stiff. But you are right! I can see the similarities for sure!

0:59 Did I hear right? You donated 200$+ pair of Asics? I'm sorry but that's ridiculous to me. I would never do that. I can only afford that level of nice shoes if I buy them used. Something really has to be wrong with the shoe for me to get rid of it. And in these cases I sell them, no way in hell to donate them! I can't just throw away that kind of money.
In my country lightly used supershoes goes for half the original price (at least), in western country you can find 250$ shoes for 50$ on 2nd hand market, not here.
And Sky and Egde were 275$ here in the stores. More expensive than in the west.
It's just funny to me how you guys treat these shoes like a consumable, for us this is a serious investment. And I'm still insane that with my modest income and being slow ass runner I still buy these kind of shoes, but it's fun hobbie to me and I'm little bit crazy - have to admit. :)

Yes, I often donate shoes I don’t like after 50-100 miles. I don’t have room to keep things and I often travel so that is the best bet.
This is a large part of why I don’t talk about price on this channel. What I think is inexpensive or expensive is often not the case for others. I come from cycling and compared to cycling running (even too end super shoes) are cheap. So it’s all relative I guess.

@@SagasuRunning No problem. I wrote the comment before I finished the whole video. I saw after that you mentioned that you have a reason you don't talk about the price aspect.
Even if you talk about money I don't think you'll get negative comments. Ppl who watch (super)shoe reviews aren't bothered by prices, UNLESS something is exceptionally expensive and is crap. I don't post comments about prices because I know I am a tiny monority and I don't represent most people, but donating barely used supershoe was just that of a shock to me. :)

@@kylestephens9593 my thinking is if I’m not going to enjoy it… someone else should be able too. It’s much better than throwing them out. If I still lived in the US I might try to sell them… but living in Asia makes they hard for me.
