I think that Jaedong is the best player of 2013, just because of his consistent play for the whole year. He placed second in most of the big tournaments. Really fantastic work from him, I hope he gets some first place trophies in 2014!
o man 15:15 shows so much emotion from JD after a long and hard fought tournament and his intense training still shows JD is still one of the best and truly talented player.
I do not know WTF Star Craft is, i have never heard or seen it before... but this shit right here was phucken EPIC.... holy shit, im totally getting this fucken game... This was art and strategy at its best

SICK Video!! love how it is not just game highlight and has happy moments, player introductions. Also love that you show the important parts of a match so that a player that hasn't watched those matches could understand why it was one of the best. Good vid man! keep it up in 2014. you are one of the biggest assets that the SC2 community has!!!! :)
Terran clips: Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with flawless micro. Zerg clips: brilliant game-changing engagements and brilliant game-winning baneling mine detonations. Protoss clips: Protoss units on A-move killing stuff and then they win.
The game isn't dead, I remember spending hours, even days grinding out the ladder. I don't do that anymore, but there are many people who do. and it is still a very fun esport to watch.
Lol. Tatyboy1337 You'll just waste over 2 hours of life watching Tempests and Collosi kill creep tumors and swarm hosts and a few engagements. Watch the beginning-start of late game and then skip to the last 3 minutes if you want to watch it
i watched many of these games and actually got goosebumps.. especially : redbull battle ground bomber vs scarlett ; naniwa 2 proxy cheese against hyun (i know its a cheese but its just crazy how naniwa had that guts) ; JD final game vs Dear
Best games of the year for me were the countless battles between Scarlett and Bomber. You knew it was going to be amazing and really close. It's a classic now!
2013 was my first year of sc2, and it was a great one. But it was sad to see great foreigners in idrA and Stephano depart. BTW, i wish you had Polts seeker missiles on Hyuns infestors. That was pure epicness.
This game is so fucking beautiful. You can make whatever "ded gaem" jokes you want, but this game will never die for me. These memories, and many more to come, will live on forever. Thank you to everyone who is or has been a part of the Starcraft community! :')
I felt that Hyun shouldve gotten the recognition in that 2gate proxy from Nani. His micro was amazing, and he lost very minimal to zealots, but that minimum was still too much
2013 WAS the year of Starcraft 2. where big events actually had more than 100k viewers with a huge live crowd. Now? THE biggest tournament has less than 30,40k, a quarter of a size of the crowd back in 2013. And sad fact, SC2 is being left out in many DHs and IEMs. You see csgo, lol, heroes, hs, dota2... but not sc2. and when it DOES take part, it never gets the main stage nor the hot time. and half the matches are just unimportantly thrown to be casted on a B stream where like 3k watch without camera works... where IS acers teamstorycup. where IS gstl. and mlg? proleague now has 7 teams. It used to have like 16. Great players like Effort, Bisu, Flash, Hyvaa, Rain... have left sc2 to go back to Broodwar... hmmmm... I miss 2013... wud it not be possible to get as much hype of the scene? ;( so sad.
+Scherzo Herzo Yeah but it's not the fault of the tournaments. eSport is just blowing up lately and games like DotA/LoL/CS:GO are just more popular. And you can't blame the people. I play CS:GO and SC2, and I played DotA and LoL but those games are simply easier to play. SC2 needs more dedication and time. And that's something not all people have. I'm not saying that those other games are easy. But it's easier to be halfway decent in LoL then in SC2.
+BallsToTheWall I switched from LoL to SC2 after playing it for a little over a year - I still play LoL with friends here and there though but not taking it serious anymore. Realizing I wanted a bit more of an intensive mechanical challenge and the fact that the ELO system is better suited for 1v1s, SC2 simply takes it as worth spending time on. The ranking system for team-oriented games needs to be revamped as it's not as accurate as one would hope for. You either get lucky you have a good team, or lucky that the enemy team has a troll. It simply doesn't feel rewarding knowing that I won/lost a game if A) I got carried, B) I HAD to carry when everyone else is behind, C) my team performed horribly, D) the enemy has a troll, or E) You got lucky the enemy team isn't coordinating. There are too many variables that are dependent on other people where it doesn't necessarily reflect your skill as a player. Your winrate is not your TRUE winrate, as it is an approximation since there are dependencies on the state of your team - AND the enemy team. If you're unlucky it's very hard to climb the ladder despite that you were actually performing well most of the time. Another issue I see is balance. League will never be a balanced game, and there will always be loopholes to exploit a champion's abilities with an item as there are so many of them. I'm happy enough with SC2 knowing that it's "mostly" balanced. The popularity of LoL and other competitive games that overshadow SC2 is, in my eyes, part of a trend, and serve as a nice intro on the consumer side for gamers to get involved into the esports scene since the learning curve is quite easy (the knowledge curve could take months though). But I hope eventually there will be some renewed interest in this game, and all the while Blizzard has been supporting it consistently more with patches, DLCs, and other future additions that try to bring in more casual players, bring it up-to-date to business models similar to DOTA2 and LoL. This video is a throwback to 2-3 years ago (which is relatively not that old), and comparing the hype now as it was then doesn't mean its dead. If it was, then why would I switch? I'm sure there are plenty of other gamers who wants that kind of a challenge. As long as it's still supported by Blizzard, and people like myself giving this game a serious chance, there's always the possibility for it to gain momentum. I just got my nephew to play SC2 again and he used to play League as well. I know I might sound optimistic, but SC2 has that seriousness, depth comparable to chess which would be difficult to take away. Besides, why would anyone in their right mind be happy to play on the same map 5000 times? We just have to keep on supporting SC2 and let time tell.
Raphael Tobar you right about all of that. but that still doesn't mean that SC2 is just too hard to get into for casual player and people that don't want to put a lot of effort into a game. You won't get far in CS:GO, LoL/Dota if you don't play a lot but it's still easier to understand the basics of the game and have a fun time just playing it without being the best of the game. Mastering it of course takes a lot of time. But for casual players those games are more appealing since you have mods like Gun Game, Surf, aram or whatever. :)
Awesome vid! Of course there are some cry- (slightly obsessive)-babies but this is great. I would have liked to have some other games included here too. But. What the hell. These guys are AWESOME. I hope Naniwa can practise in Korea next year, if he does he will be THE FOREIGNER
yeah. i hate naniwa's plays here. The first was just a successful cheese and BO loss. Other players can execute the cheese better than that, he lost like 3 zeals to drones. The second was just Protoss deathball a-moving across the map.
***** i would call bullshit on that, most players wouldn't dream about doing something so risky against hyun, especially in the deciding match of a best of 5. Typically you would expect a standard opening from a zerg to play safe, but he anticipated the greedy opening and punished hyun... he did fantastic. You just jelly.
rmyd027 great. but really? best of 2013? haha. That's normal in any best of whatever series. That's a standard play that beat another standard play. Anything extraordinary?.. lol nothing.
***** A 2 gate proxy is standard play? A 2 hatch opening before pool is standard? first you said the 2 gate was cheese, now your calling it standard? Im calling bullshit on you in general. Both players took huge risks and their plays reflect that. Hyun played nowhere near standard... and neither did Naniwa... Hyun made a poor judgement call when he believed Naniwa would play standard, and Naniwa made a great move anticipating Hyun's greed. You don't seem to know shit about Starcraft 2.
Absolutely fantastic highlights of this year in Starcraft 2
emil gebl Fuck you. :)
Yes, it is great. Amazing job everyone!
rip
RIP brother, thank you for what you did for the sport.
Rip
Time flies. The memories and emotions remain.
i remember seeing that Bomber vs Scarlett game live. Such a painful moment as a fellow Terran but what a deserved victory it was. GG
I think that Jaedong is the best player of 2013, just because of his consistent play for the whole year. He placed second in most of the big tournaments. Really fantastic work from him, I hope he gets some first place trophies in 2014!

Great video!
o man 15:15 shows so much emotion from JD after a long and hard fought tournament and his intense training still shows JD is still one of the best and truly talented player.
omg 1:55 innovations splits. i cried a tear of joy. truly unbelievable
I do not know WTF Star Craft is, i have never heard or seen it before... but this shit right here was phucken EPIC.... holy shit, im totally getting this fucken game... This was art and strategy at its best

Dude.... i caught chills down my spine just watching this....

Thanks for an awesome year of SC2 highlights!
Not sure why this is getting pushed to my home page - but I'm not disappointed.
Six years on, this is still amazing play.
Bomber vs Scarlett is my favorite, by far ! I cried so much it was wonderful.
SICK Video!! love how it is not just game highlight and has happy moments, player introductions. BEAUTIFULLY MADE
I have no idea how to play starcraft or what happens in these plays but it even got me hyped
No matter I see this video in any time,my heartbeat is always fast.I'm a StarCraft II fan from Taiwan.Thank you #SC2HL
So many great memories, so many great games. Thanks for this great vid!
The part with Happy commentated by the Italian(?) caster always gets tears in my eyes.
THE SICKEST NERD CHILLS
do you know that there is a difference between Nerd and geek. just asking. And yes I can't spell sometimes, DEAL WITH IT.
Yes, Artosis said that phrase a lot. Well, he at least he did 3 years ago.
nice recap fun SC2 year! SOS launch out of the booth after winning his 1st 100k looks so amazing!
2020 Anyone?
Terran clips: Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with flawless micro.
Zerg clips: brilliant game-changing engagements and brilliant game-winning baneling mine detonations.
Protoss clips: Protoss units on A-move killing stuff and then they win.
Amazing highlight video, go Starcraft !!!!
No plays by Bomber in the video ? He won one of the most competitive tournaments in Starcraft history. He's one of my favorite players.
yep. His win over jaedong on WCS America season 2 was freaking amazing. Like his macro can't give JD any chance to recover.
***** And his micro is also some of the best in the world, especially marines of course :).
lukaszepesi yea they are forgetting his WINS against jaedong in WCS SEASOJ 2
lukaszepesi he got a highlight of him getting owned by Scarlett
gaem not ded , gaem awesome!
....Wait, What?
Nop, pretty much dead. Only a handful of pros care about it at this point.
nanotech2080 go to lol and dota , no1 likes you
TheLethlas Awww, mad cos true?
The game isn't dead, I remember spending hours, even days grinding out the ladder. I don't do that anymore, but there are many people who do. and it is still a very fun esport to watch.
Really great work, keep up the awesome highlights SC2HL!
That face of jaedong, he dont know if he's going to smile or jump of happiness :3
he's had so many 2nd place finish in 2013. too many! good for him he won at last.
Firecake vs. Mana:
Best game of 2013
GG
Ryan Hubbard Taeja vs INnoVation game 3
SLSnoX Jaedong vs Dear , Jaedong vs maru.
Do you have a link? I love watching games like this.
Dimaga vs MVP
Lol. Tatyboy1337 You'll just waste over 2 hours of life watching Tempests and Collosi kill creep tumors and swarm hosts and a few engagements. Watch the beginning-start of late game and then skip to the last 3 minutes if you want to watch it
14:30 is so bad XD Very nice compilation of the nicest gameplays!
2 games that stuck in my mind from 2013: SJOW vs Life (DH, derelict watcher) and Grubby vs Duckdeok (WCS, red city)
i watched many of these games and actually got goosebumps..
especially : redbull battle ground bomber vs scarlett ; naniwa 2 proxy cheese against hyun (i know its a cheese but its just crazy how naniwa had that guts) ; JD final game vs Dear
don't get the naniwa one at 11:30. death ball attack move is a top play?
Sang-Min Jin Neither do i, the protoss has more army supply and there is no way ultralisk can win against archon + immortal in a straight up fight
+Thanh Le IIRC in the context of the match it was quite impressive, what you see is the end of a big comeback push.
epic does not begin to describe the content in this video
Wow this is epic. I got chills watching this. Such an epic saga for such a great game.
Great video! I just wish it was twice as long^^
I got tears in the eyes when that jaedong muta play came in *-*
I love the fact that you ended the clip with duckdeok, that win was the most amazing and emotional of them all. Gotta love how humble that guy is!
Hyun did so ridiculously well for his position. that drone micro was impressive
I am so glad you chose duckdeok for the last part. Truely the most moving moment in SC2 in 2013.
Very touching, i almost cryed at the end, especialy when jeadong won asus rog even tough im a big scarlett fan. Fantasic jobb mate keep it up!
The music makes it more tense and fun to watch. They should have music like this while casting
Best games of the year for me were the countless battles between Scarlett and Bomber. You knew it was going to be amazing and really close. It's a classic now!
brought a tear to my eye in the end.
2013 was an amazing year for SC, can't wait what 2014 has in store for us.
8:40 bought the biggest smile to my face!
+Chris Pham he caught up in the momment chasing fcking scarlet XD
Awesome video! Very well put together, with music cued up to perfectly compliment the biggest moments! Do make more!
Awesome video! Super enjoyed it. Best one I've seen of its type. :)
The feels! Simply amazing!
I want to pick up on playing starcraft now..
Might have to start watching/playing Starcraft II again!
That was brilliantly timed music on the Scarlett/bomber game sir.
really awesome vid! it was a pleasure to watch
Scarlett vs Bomber: one of the best games in the year
Naniwa: one of the best play of the year
Naniwa best move 2013 : double proxy gates + A click move, wahou amazing...
Even though it probably didn't take much skill, it was a very memorable moment for 2013 since so much was at stake with it being 2-2.
It's insane how long Hyun managed to survive with his attemptet three hatch play against Naniwas proxy gates
holy shit if that doesn't get you pumped up as a starcraft fan I don't know what will.
I like the footage of the winners walking up to the trophy and picking it up themselves. It's very poetic.
Bloody good channel mate!!
THAT WAS FREAKIN' EPIC!!!
What a great video! But I miss Nanis micro against Life and his manner hatcheries.
Starcraft is AWESOME!
nice work man!
Amazing Video! Great Job!
Thank you!
Excellent video!
I have missed so much good SC2 this year, I am ashamed of myself.
How i miss this
Great year, 2014 was greater and 2015 will be the best we've had so far
Zack Gibbs you wish. There is only hype for new expansions. Then the hype dies. Deal with it.
s21411 Hype may die, but not the fan base
That banering trap by scarlett is my favourite part. So epic
good gold times
2013 was my first year of sc2, and it was a great one.
But it was sad to see great foreigners in idrA and Stephano depart.
BTW, i wish you had Polts seeker missiles on Hyuns infestors. That was pure epicness.
Absolutely amazing. gave me chills
Incredible video ! THANKS
I fucking love the way JD reacted to his win, you can just see the happiness and relieve
Very nice video! Thank you!
That series Scarlett vs Bomber @ Redbull Battlegrounds was the best games I have watched since 7/27/10.
His micro was amazing, and he lost very minimal to zealots, but that minimum was still too much
Does anyone know who the italian caster is at 2:10?
Its Vasacast! The best caster ever!
SC2HL.com Excellent, I didn't know there were any italian casters. Thank you for telling me, I watched one of his videos and it was quite good!
Thx guys for this vidéo this very best move of SC2 2013 thx you so much ! and thx you player for this all moments :')
No Taeja? Im depressed :(... Great video though!
This video made me want to play Starcraft 2 again.
i think scarlett vs bomber has to be the best of the year
Absolut Fantastic video!!!
but where is Mana vs Firecake?
most incredible moment of sc2 2013 :D
2013 WAS the year of Starcraft 2. where big events actually had more than 100k viewers with a huge live crowd. Now? THE biggest tournament has less than 30,40k, a quarter of a size of the crowd back in 2013. It used to have like 16. Great players like Effort, Bisu, Flash, Hyvaa, Rain... have left sc2 to go back to Broodwar... hmmmm...
+BallsToTheWall Sc2 is far more harder then Lol to get into
We need a Starcraft 3...
Awasome! I`m glad i was on`line for like 80% of those games.
I'm just glad Jaedong won something after all those loses in final matches :)
Sos is still the best toss, hail sos
13:26 wtf I thought there was a mosquito in my room
Awesome vid!
Of course there are some cry- (slightly obsessive)-babies but this is great. I would have liked to have some other games included here too. But. What the hell. These guys are AWESOME.
I hope Naniwa can practise in Korea next year, if he does he will be THE FOREIGNER
This is why i love starcraft
Oh, how things have changed.
great video, i only wish there was more of this stuff like there was in bw
Bro, wake up it's 2013!
The Italian commentary!
Really, naniwa a-moving across the map is best of 2013...
thats what i was thinking :p
yeah. i hate naniwa's plays here. The first was just a successful cheese and BO loss. Other players can execute the cheese better than that, he lost like 3 zeals to drones. The second was just Protoss deathball a-moving across the map.

You don't seem to know shit about Starcraft 2.
With all the negativity in the SC2 scene right now it's feels good to be reminded all of these amazing games.
Seeing Jaedong makes me happy. After his SC1 carrier...
Sc2 owns and so does this video.
8:40 :O Ultimate gosebumps!!! :D:D:D
yea i watched the entire game... these last bangling hits blew my fucking mind was a plesure seeing them again
Ivan Šimović
What game is that? I wanna check it out too.
at 8:40 Bomber vs Scarlett
*****
I'm watching it now :D
Bomber vs Scarlett was unreal
Song at 4:50? They're not in the description. :(
