Voice isolation is incredible. I had an interview with a guy that I was moving quite a bit and could clearly hear the clothing rubbing on the lab mic cable. Voice isolation completely removed the unwanted sound and the voice was very clear and clean.

Informative and very easy to watch and listen to, keep up the great work, I'll def be going through more of your tutes. I also had no idea Studio could do all these things, impressive bit of kit!
oh Alex my friend, you are becoming my favorite Davinci content creator on youtube for real xD I've started liking your videos before even watching them cz I just know they'll be useful 😂
I'd love to see more on the option of AV1. What exactly do all these settings do. Also instead of quality being at "best" it would be interesting to reason it like that: If the whole project was shot on a GH5 at 200mbps then you can choose "restrict to" and choose the appropriate data rate to match the camera. That way the file is no bigger than needed and no less.
Scan computers are a superb company. I stick with them because of trust. About 15 years ago I bought an editing system from another company who actually bought the system off Scan (which I didn't know). It went faulty towards the end of year one and the company wouldn't fix it. They said by the time it got to them and was fixed, it would be out of warranty and the fault is probably caused by myself. Frustrated, I called Scan for advice. They then told me they had built the system for this company and it had a two year warranty (at that time). Anyway, they offered advice on how to fix it and sent what I needed. So, I'm updating my system this month and choosing Nvidia as Resolve performs better on their cards. 24GB of memory on the graphics card. That's 16gb more than I presently use. Crazy amount. Fun though. Another great video Alex, although your twin could be after your job. They now have 3 year warranties.
This video is timely! I was sharing with creators in meeting yesterday the need to get DaVinci Resolve and upgrade to studio. I forwarded this on. Also, you showed me things that I didn’t even know. Thank you! Will test out my NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000. 😊
The voice isolation looks like it might be good if you get unwanted background possibly copyrighted music playing as you are recording while walking around.
Alex just wanted to say your videos have been super easy to follow and between this one and the 18.5 beta updates I’ve pulled the trigger and ordered myself a Speed Editor with Studio. I think the time saving quality of life benefits, even for a relative novice doing hobbyist stuff (my film/TV essay/review channel) like myself will be worth it for sure after watching your videos! Awesome stuff, can’t wait to watch some more! 🙌🏻
Alex Love your concise videos - no messing around, straight to the point, sprinkled with humour. Other TH-camrs please note! Any chance you could do one on upscaling say SD to HD, or HD to 4K? I heard it uses AI and maybe takes a long time. It would be good to get some idea how long and how good a job it does. Many thanks.
It's super easy to do. It's called SuperScale. Right click on the clip within media pool and then click Properties. Option is in there. It's decent, not amazing tbh as it mostly just sharpens things up a bit but its never blown me away as a feature (not like the others).
@@MrAlexTech Umm - see what you mean. Not sure if it's much better than just cutting the footage into a 4k timeline. Especially if you're going to eventually downscale. I guess it works ok for the odd shot.
🔥🔥🔥 Big thanks to SCAN mralextech.net/SCAN 🔥🔥🔥 CONFIRMED! AV1 IS available in the FREE version too providing you have a capable GPU! I said this in the video but wanted to double check so confirmed with a dev this morning :)
The only one I've used so far is the voice isolation which is phenomenal. I didn't know half of these others existed. Super cool, must play! Thanks!!! 👍
That Depth Map is flippin' BONKERS! If it can do that reliably, the ramifications are huge. e.g. I can't afford a full frame camera at the moment (I have one but it's old and much better for photos), but I can film with a M4/3 and get a similar effect with DOF by applying that. Similarly if you don't have good AF, you can just shoot at like f8 and apply bokeh in post!
Update: I actually LOLed at you saying "Speedwarp... It's basically magic let's be honest". 😂 I completely agree. There are a few things that I will never understand to be something other than magic. Auto-tinting sunglasses WTF.
Great information Alex. I really enjoy your videos, very easy to follow and informative and funny!…I am a loyal follower of your channel. Keep it coming! As others have mentioned, as a hobbyist, I have a hard time justifying getting the studio version…the wife would kill me😬
Quick question, I have magic masked something, alpha output and all that jazz, it shows up over the clip that’s under it, but when I try to recrop it or move the actual masked video to different places so it appears in a different spot over the second video, it completely disappears, so I go back to magic mask, and click the re render both ways button, it redoes it and I’m back to where I was before. Magic masked video clip, showing up over the clip below it, yet I don’t seem to have any say it where it actually appears over the second video below it. If anyone has experienced this, or has a solution please reply, it is causing quite a headache.
Thanks for a great rundown. I was wondering if it would be possible to use the depth map function to fade different parts of an image in and out of focus using fey frames. For example, two people sitting at different distances from the camera, and simulating focus pull to move them in and out of focus as a scene progresses.
Cheers Alex, voice isolation I use a lot to take wind noise away, I also find a couple of the settings in dialogue leveller help change some poor audio

Does anyone know why at 3:35 Magic Mask example 2 (double MrAlex), Mr Alex used the Object Mode Magic Mask when he squiggled on himself in the clip? I would have thought he would have chosen Person Mode, although it worked out nicely anyway. MrAlex, thanks for this really helpful video that is doing a great job of confirming for me that my investment in Studio was well worth it.

Back in late 2020 when I bought Resolve Studio, the big thing for me was being able to work with the 10-bit h264 files from the GH5 I had at the time. First of all, i love the video! but.... In the ''two versions of you'' part, i'm trying to recreate it, when i add an alpha output , connect the blue nodes the video underneath doesn't pop up like yours did.... what am I doing wrong?!
