You guys have been asking and I have been promising more rats videos. Well here you go. These are some things I wish I knew when I started breeding rats for my snake collection. 👋😀👍
This video is jam packed with useful info and tips... Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us!
I’m considering getting my first snake so I’m researching what way I’d like to feed it. This is a great video, super helpful and informative. Thank you.
Thanks! Good luck and snakes make a awesome pet.
Snakes are great pets that are so easy to keep. I'm sure you'll end getting more than 1, but until you have bout 5+ snakes, breeding rats isn't worth it
Surely you can just freeze the ones you over breed after you’ve grown them out?
Awesome video, I'm just at the point where I need to start breeding rats and Ia was going to build my own racks like I did for all of my snakes but I think I'm gonna fork out the money for the freedom breeder rodent setup. Your racks look great by the way.
Your videos are the best! Very practical info, thank you!!
Thank you so much for the compliment. I try a share info that I would of wanted when I was first starting. 🙂👍
Thank you! I have 2 juveniles and another 2 on the way. Looking to cut any costs so this is awesome info.
Even if your a vegetarian a plant has to die, either way for anything to survive something has to die just the way of life .i love your video gave me some tips ,at the moment I’m breeding both fancy and Asf’s
You ROCK brother, super honest. VERY INFORMATIVE. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, time, and wisdom with us on our pursuits and venture's.
Followed ya on Ig.. all good info. I learned through trial and error just like you did:). That 2 to 3 weeks off between breedings is sooo important
It is about trial and error. When you love what you do it makes all the blood, sweat and tears totally worth it.👍
@@ZenOrcReptiles I think it makes it much easier to learn it if ya love it as well.
Great video bud.bI just invested in a freedom breeder rat rack. I have about 60+ snakes to feed and it's time. I'll be in touch soon I'm sure
Definitely 3 if it is possible. But don’t want you to get burned out. Would like to see content for the foreseeable future from you! Keep it up awesome content brother!
Thanks Mr. Big I hoping to post videos about some big updates soon.
You should do 3 with the last video being special, i.e. weird hat, pants jacket etc. It would definitely bring interest to those videos
How did you go about getting your CO2 process together?
Great video! Thanks so much!
Black buckets will help with the algae, it mostly comes from the light because the water sits for so long
You could also consider an air pump
anyone else get to expect an also every 30 seconds lol but forreal very informational thanks
Some of these problems are not going to be a problem with me this is not my first breeding project just my first time breeding rats. I am just having one rack for now i am going the slow way of growing so i can give myself a learning curve but it is 6 bens of breeding mice 2 for rats and 4 grow out for size.
Great video thanks for sharing
smell issues?? Try worm bed pans, you wont regret it.
I never heard of this one before. I have to check into this..
Where do I get rats or mice
Really dig that Ball Python XING sign, where’d you get it?
I keep hearing about people having problems with mites when breeding rats. How did you know you had mites?????
First sign was my snakes started to soak a lot. I had mites one time and I remember who I ordered snakes from at that time. I know it wasn't from my rats. Mites can be transferred from rats, but they can't live on them. From what I reserched they can be transferred from our clothing and animals. So you can pick them up on you at a reptile show or store, but they can't feed on rats. I am not biologist, but from what I have read and researched they will starve without a reptile (mainly snakes).
Acv kills em....and or diamatacious 🌎
Should I start with 3 bins
At what age do they start breeding??? Great vids by the way!
Around 3 to 3 1/2 months. To be honest I look mostly for a plump health girls. They should be at least 3+ months! Personally I won't breed a skinny looking rat. I keep them separated from my boys after they are weaned. I just hold back the healthiest females for breeders when I need them.
Zen Orc Reptiles noted. Thank you so much for the info. I’ve been trying to breed some rats for my ball pythons. Hopefully I get to produce some baby rats soon.
@@jaycho3488 they canb reach sexual maturity at 5 weeks, though it's usually closer to 6 weeks. Thus is why it's recommended to separate males from females at 4-5 weeks. It's better if you let your females grow for a few months so they don't have trouble producing enough milk, though.
They're adults at 6 months.
@@sinandcyanide7505 Thanks! :)
Trying to start my own small colony, so far the two seem too scared an skittish to mate. Only have two snakes to feed so I’ve started with just one male an one female. Do they have to be exact same size to breed?
Males breed a lot faster then females, females take 10 - 12 weeks normally.
Zen Orc Reptiles that’s a good thing because my male is slightly smaller than my female lol
@@ShaggyDoo.98 your make may just not be big enough to mount her with confidence. As he catches up in size, it'll happen. You could try separating them for a couple of weeks and then put them together again during her next heat cycle. If they're together all the time, they may be less interested in breeding.
Yeah no doubt mites are the freaking worst. I wish we could get those predatory mites that they have in the UK, you just dump them in the enclosures and they eat all of the snake mites then die of starvation.
Just got 3 Females and 1 male rat today
Congratulations! That is awesome.
Can't sell fast enough, freeze the extra rats
some snakes only eat frozen/dead
Just steadied to breed my own rats
Awesome! It is a little extra work, but definitely worth it.
And yes being on a large scale my Females. excuse my grammar ..was Ho*d out and was just fighting my males off ..until i started culling
Been there 2018......overpopulated and NO PLATFORM TO SELL ..... PISS PISS PISS AND BREATHING TREATMENT ALL THROUGH THE DAY....LOL...CLEANING BY BIT WORKS BEST
If you can put the content out do 3 a week but make sure your not skipping on content
👍
Hey man, if you want pets you need to feed them. Snakes CANNOT eat plants and survive
Boring
