Those sikorae eggs are infertile, they don't glue eggs. I breed them myself. Fertile eggs from this species will be rolled into little balls and hidden under leaves in the substrate on a rotation of every 30-ish days (mine lay like clockwork). You should consider giving them more vertical spaces to sleep, this species loves to sleep snoot down on branches. Incubation period is between 90-160 days. Mine average 130 at room temp. But yeah, that sikorae egg is 100% infertile.
I have a suggestion. For your snakes you should get one of those pantone color charts with all the different colors. Compare it to the snakes so we know what their true color is (because sometimes it doesn't show up properly on camera like lavender hognoses). I have only bred geckos once, but I think it is better to just let them hatch on their own because the two eggs seem to develop at slightly different times. I cut a leopard gecko egg two days after it's clutch mate had hatched and she still had her yolk sac attached and so wasn't able to absorb as much as she otherwise would have. She ended up doing fine but yeah, gecko clutches aren't like snake clutches the babies will hatch hours if not days apart so just don't cut their eggs, it seems to create more risk than it prevents.
Agreed, I had a similar situation with leopard gecko eggs and the one I cut didn't survive. I've had leo eggs hatch days apart with no issues on their own.
@@sdaggan2112 I am so sorry that happened to you. I wish this information was more widespread because at the time I didn't think what I was doing was in anyway risking the baby. When I had bred my geckos I thought I was prepared, but it was terrifying opening the egg and seeing the baby come out with a pink glob attached to its belly. It seems like geckos won't sit in their eggs and absorb the yolk once the shell is opened, they just want to squirm out and use all that energy even when their little bodies might not be ready for it.
NEVER skip a baby garter video again i missed them last year and watching you look through the enclosure for them sounds like fun! though given you had to wait for the babies to come out, might be difficult to film. any plans to babyproof the garter enclosure for their next breeding season?
Loved the video! Please don't think we would ever feel bored by a baby garter video, I love them a lot, especially seeing you scramble trying to find them! :D
Day gecko eggs hatch at different rates, not always at the same time, I've had one hatch and then the other a few weeks later. Also the day gecko regrowing tails do go green but a different shade of green, I bought my first day gecko that dropped her tail a few days before I bought her and she grew it back and it turned a lighter shade of green but still blended in, but you can still see where the new tail grew from. Great video. ❤️
If you guys can ever find some, I think some tomato frogs (Discophus sp.) could make for interesting roommates in the day gecko exhibit, I've seen one of my local aquariums do it, they don't bother each other because the Phelsumas stay high up in the branches and the frogs live strictly on the ground. Also they are just pretty.
You know you built great enclosures for your animals when they breed spontaneously for you, think your doing a great job. Also love that if a creature isn’t thriving in zoo life you find a better spot for, you really put the animal first.
I think the reason the little baby died is because you opened the egg while it was still in development, causing some issues. Even if they’re laid on the same day, development speed is different. And there is always the chance that baby was indeed laid after the first one. I say, wait more days then you do with your snakes. If they still arnt hatching, you can open the egg.
My grandma was stabbed by an assassin bug and got very sick, the area swelled, required antibiotics and lasted for almost 2 months. Living in CA, OR and WA the Assassin bugs we have here are quite harmful to humans if impaled. Sometimes requiring surgery to remove dead tissue and repair the area. Babies!!!!!! I Love Love Love babies! Every kind of baby is amazing. Snakes, lizards, elephants, humans, I love all babies. When my kids grew up and started moving out I actually got depressed and felt like I lost my meaning. Then they started having babies. I’ve been very involved in all 3 of my grand babies early lives. My youngest granddaughter will be 3 in May and I feel like I’ve got my purpose since helping my oldest daughter with my grandson 9 years ago. Pretty sure those 3 normal baby garters are the ones I took home in March we we visited! ❤️ I was so excited as they are my favorite species and breeders are few and far between. Thanks again from Southern Indiana!
I love hearing about the baby garters born in the zoo 😭 they’re always so cute so I’m glad we were blessed with some in this video
😢❤️☹️
When you guys sang, "Too many sticks on the dance floor" I died!!! We love Flight of the Concords at my house. Hahaha I just love watching your videos. Keep the baby videos coming 😊
That baby lizard is the most adorable critter I have EVER seen. Looks too cute to be real!
I love that you guys use old containers 😊 instead of buying and wasting plastic!!
Emily saying "Yesss?" like Ed was not supposed to see her when she was spraying water everywhere is the best.
Ps. Tysm for 43 likes!
OMG! I've never had this many likes!TYSM for 55 likes!
ikr 😅
❤😊
Interesting about the assassin bugs. I’m Australian and didn’t even realise we have them here. Often known as ‘bee killer’. They can live for up to 13 months. I also learned that *some species of assassin bugs can transmit a potentially fatal disease*
Lovely ❤❤❤
I always love and appreciate Ed and Emily's videos, it makes my day so much better x
Baby garter videos NEVER get old. Please keep doing them!!!
I miss the garter snake videos!!! You guys were the first garter videos I saw and put my older on the path of garter love and protection in our area!
I just love how much Emily loves her job! She's always so excited for the babies., it's always so wholesome and adorable 🥺
Now my wife and I are thinking about becoming foster parents for babies that need someone. Sorry for the rant but I just love babies and love what you all do there. Thank you for everything! ❤❤❤
The tricolour hognose consistently trying to breed with himself is kinda relatable 😅
No way you just dropped that🤦🏻♂️
Dying of cuteness overload!
Loved the Flight Of The Conchords reference too!
Oooooh, I love stick bugs!!! The neon millipedes are so pretty!
even though the last little guy didn't make it long i'm kind of happy that he got to experience the world a little bit before he left, hope he enjoyed it ❤
Too many sticks on the dance floor 😩😂 I haven’t thought about Flight of the Conchords in a hot minute. Great reference ☺️
I think you should definitely do the false chameleon eggs on camera and a care and setup guide because there’s such a lack of it out there.
They are also still trying to figure it out 100%
Emily and Ed’s baby snake voices are the sweetest 😂 I love when one of the snakes/lizards/frogs is being naughty though. It’s definitely more Toddler Mom & Dad NOOOOOOO DON’T talk
I love you, guys. I love seeing your videos, especially the hatching baby ones, they are so filled with joy and positivity. You are an oasis in TH-cam for me.
One of my favorite videos of Deep Look is about the assassin bug and how the tarweed will basically bribe the assassin bug to take care of its caterpillar problem, so when Emily mentioned assassin bugs, I was very excited.
I dont think I've ever been so early to a video before, can't wait to see all the cute babies!
YESS THEY'RE MY FAVORITE VIDS
SAMEEE
@@itsjustfunnykittyplaysOMG SAME
I live in Hawaii and Madagascar Day Geckos are EVERYWHERE and sooooo beautiful. I get so excited when I notice them, and its so awesome y'all have an exhibit with this new baby 🤗💚
I can't even describe how much I needed bebe reptile content today (I didn't know I needed it either.) this is so exciting!
I love starting my day with baby videos from Ed and Emily 💞 They are one of the few I subscribe to that if a video is up I watch it immediately and they never disappoint.
As a millipede keeper myself, I would recommend a deeper substrate for Giant African Millipedes as you are keeping them with another species but thats just my opinion 😀
Love your vids! Btw have you guys ever wondered about what happened to the sunburst hog?
The baby that was sent to us? He's eating very well and is growing fast! :)
We actually adopted the baby day gecko 🦎 and he or she is doing wonderfully! 💕🥰
What did you name them?
The last little baby reminds me of the beanie baby sand filled lizards from the mid 90s❤️❤️❤️❤️🦎 so freaking cute!!
I'm always into Garter videos. Keep those coming please!!!!!
I saw that face and holy crap adorable. Literally like to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
What a cute little baby day gecko🦎Welcome to the world❤ They can be socialized so well! Even the wild caught one, they’ll be used to humans since they have really curious personalities.
The baby day gecko is the cutest thing ever!🦎🦎🎉🥳🤩
6:09 noooooo one can never get too much garter snakes contents. i was actually missing garter snakes baby contents just rewatched one recently
You guys are awesome, and your videos are really helping me stay reasonably chipper while nursing my newborn at 4 AM. Thank you!!!
Always love seeing hognose tail buzzing! 😆 those garter snakes are so cute! 💕 also Emily’s necklace 😂
The first tri colour is pretty cool, that’s the second baby hatched from the parents with that pattern. Hope this one does better and thrives
"I'm big where it counts . . . a big HEART"
I died
I know you probably have so many eggs from various reptiles throughout the year that you can't do a full video on each one because a lot of them are lizard eggs and they only like clutches of two. So I would love to continue seeing videos like this of all the random eggs at the end of every year
Anytime that I see that yall have something new out to watch, I click 💯 miles per hr.
Thank you both for being so informative and helpful on replies, etc! 😀 And your energy is so uplifting and positive! Which is a nice rarity above all!
Thank you, guys! ❣️
❤
That flight of the conchords reference.. was everything.
I've always had a soft spot for any Day Gecko species. The Giant Day and others are always so curious and adorable (until they aren't and run faster than a bolt of lightning lol)
The Flight of the Conchords reference with reptiles... it's what I'm here for!
Our local reptile store have giant day geckos all over the place (they all escaped at some point) so now they eat the crickets that get out and the invasive house geckos that get in- and they breed a lot so they get a bunch of baby geckos to sell
Lets go.Yay!Good job! Love,Riley
Oh yay!!! So many babies and eggs! I’ve actually missed the garters too!
Ahh I love a day when snake discovery uploads in time for me to watch it on the bus home from work. Makes the journey so pleasant
Hi I just wanted to say that I love your guy’s channel and the effort you guys put into these video is awesome I’ve been here since the start and I do not regret not turning away you guys opened my eyes to the reptile hobby!
I'm watched all the garder video so many times they're one of my fav snakes and I have been waiting for another video about them
You guys are amazing! The excitement you put into the animals and your videos is contagious and makes me happy!
Love Emily’s charizard belt buckle
I just want to say I absolutely love your videos and you made me so much less fearful of snakes you have taught so much and I love how your channel is so entertaining yet so educational also I think you should do a video on chameleons just because I might be interested as well as other people either way I hope to come to Minnesota this summer and come to the zoo give Rex lots of hugs and kisses for me and tell Cheyenne I love her too and give her a treat for love this channel you guys😊
it's been forever since I checked out your channel, guys, and I have no idea why - my goodness how it's grown! your facility looks insanely good!
Will you keep that tricolour hognose if it eats and see if you can breed for the off set pattern. Would be interesting if it could be a new morph.
I love how Ed acts like an interviewer, and makes emily tell interesting stuff even though he probably already knows the answer
You can make an ENTIRE log cabin with all those sticks 😂
Thank you for including the baby gecko that didn't make it! Really fascinating to see. Ofc I wish it didn't pass away, but I appreciate seeing this side of husbandry when it happens. Looking forward to more babies!
It definitely died because the egg was opened too early
@@blindopossum7913Unfortunately that was most definitely the case. It looked perfectly healthy, but they had never bred them before so sadly they didn’t know otherwise. At least they know now for next time though.
Babies!!! They’re so cute!
I'm in SD now so I'm definitely gonna have to take a trip over there to see y'all's zoo and hopefully meet y'all XD
For the babies (and future babies) that didn't make it in the video, what if you guys made Shorts just for them instead? :D
21:15 I love the gecko bag hooks on the wall!😂 perfect for this video lol 🦎
do you guys still keep snails? i'd love to see more snail content!!! even just a timelapse short of them eating something! :>
I love that Emily was just casually standing there seeing how far the spray will go.
Love your videos!! ❤️❤️❤️
finally returning to this channel after a while! my strong interest in reptiles and insects has returned.
EMILY WE DONT CARE IF YOURE VIDEOS GET A LITTLE REPETIVE, WE LOVE BABIE VIDEOS, PLSSS NEVER DO THIS AGING😭😭😭😭😭😭
I can't wait to see those eggs that hasn't hatched yet. But those baby tricolors were adorable.🦎🦎🐍🐍
I know that you wanted skip the garter babes as a video, but you really should. At least once. Watching you guys (whether it's you two, Emily and Ed, or the staff) hunting out the babes in the enclosure is bound to be an entertaining watch.
Reminded me of a pic I saw the other day where there were a bunch of Tokay geckos found behind a dresser or wardrobe or something. Just a bunch of eggs stuck to this pink wall and multiple geckos just hanging out including 2 large parents and several hatchlings! 😳🤦🏻♀️😂 I used to have a little lizard living in a bookshelf at my old place. After seeing that pic, I was extra glad it was just the one though!
Baby Reptiles are soo cute 😍
Can’t wait to hopefully find you guys at tinley on Saturday!
Look at the purple in the albino garter snakes 😍
That tri color hoggie. Sooooo cute! 🥰 I had stick bugs and they breed so freaking fast! Apparently female can just go ahead and breed more female without a male there. I was over run almost immediately lol that baby gecko is so cute 🥰
