You shut the door at night, for 24 hrs so the only bees coming are external robber bees. The young bees from the hive in the day will know their way in .
I ve got this floor recently. It took me 10 mins to put on , without suiting up in bee suit.
I instantly saw Vearoa in the tray, which was awesome to help me know to apply strips.
    This all makes perfect sense.
Last year i lost one of my 2 hives to wasps and hat to move the 2nd one away.
Highly recommended . Worth every penny ......

strange but true, I frequenly have likes of small skinks that enter thru the funnels looking for a wasp feed.

you dont need a wasp feed for the trap, the smell of the hive is enough to attract them, if you aren't getting wasps that is a good sign meaning you don't have a wasp problem in your area,

How do you know they are robbing bees and not the hives bees who might not have worked it out yet. ? Eg younger not has smart ones?

bees that are flying are field bees, younger bees are either guard bees and or nurse bees which stay within the hive, any bee that enters the trap is investigating a hives defenses and therefore trapping the spotter will stop robbing from being instigated.

The front deterrent design is good but just a variation on a screen or hardware cloth detour. The vent is a good addition but the wasp trap in the rear? I don't know. In my experience it will also trap bees and there will be no way for them to get out.

Yes you will catch bees in the trap, but only bees from other hives, you catch the scout bees which are the main instigating bees which tell the robbing hive where to rob. In turn this is a good thing if you are catching and stopping the robbing before it occurs your robbing in generally will be significantly less. The catch of bees will be quite small. You may catch 1 - 10 every now and again but as above you would rather catch the instigators before you loose your entire hive to robbing. This typically only happens at the end of a season when robbing behavior is rampant.
