Be wary of oxalate people. I used to eat lots of greens and salad and then one day a chunk of bone broke off my femur inside my knee joint. When they were doing the surgery to repair it they could see all the oxalate crystals on the bone around the damaged area. The docs said my knee would never function properly and I would never walk properly again. It took my over a year to recover and I stuck to a carnivore diet the whole time and I can happily say now I almost full knee function and I have no issues walking!

I use a zeolite powder called clinoptilolote every morning upon waking. 1/2 tbs dissolved in distilled water.
You want to find the ultra fine version that is under 25 microns.
Do not be fooled by the zeolite sprays, they are an expensive scam with no real evidence they work, just lots of hype.
You will find plenty of papers of the powder on pubmed.
Those of you with severe toxicity may want to consider dosing 2-3 x a day.

My husband was just in Loma Linda University Hospital and they would not feed him MEAT! They wouldn't release him until he came out of ketosis (ok, he really hadn't eaten in 3 days because of surgery) and ate a ton of carbs (he had been carb free for over a year). He's still paying the price for eating the carbs. When he got home, all he would eat was three scrambled eggs four times a day. Took him over a month to add additional meats to his meals. Now, he's back to normal and enjoying his meat meals again.

When I was eating tons of fresh organic vegetables and fruits and occasional dark chocolate...I felt terrible!! I was bloaty, gassy, full of inflammation and slept horrible! I switched to carnivore after months of research 4 months ago and I feel so much better! All my symptoms are gone...the few times I veered off of strict carnivore within hours my gut was hurting so badly! Carnivore way of eating will be my way for the rest of my life...btw, I will be 61 tomorrow...I wasted so much of my life eating food full of oxalates because I listened to the "experts".

I jumped straight into the carnivore diet, zero carbs. Because of this video. I have started having a couple of pieces of dark chocolate and a cup of green tea. For years, I have been eating loads of spinach, easily 500 grams a day. I hope the gradual weaning off oxalates advice works out for me! Wish me luck!

The definition of the word religion is a BELIEF in and WORSHIP of a superhuman controlling power
      especially that of a PERSONAL
      God or Gods.
Who has a personal God? After the female egg chooses the swimmer the unborn baby starts to receive messages through the womb from the energies of the birth mother and when curious
we had no choice but to go WITHIN
and we had these experiences WITHOUT a BELIEF in those experiences.

And, I needed to cut back on the thyroid meds because I lost 40 pounds, and she refused - she said just skip your thyroid medication one day a week because you're just going to gain the weight back anyway. I started Keto in 2004 when I weighed 330 pounds. I lost 120 pounds and continued until this year when I found Carnivore. I had maintained that first weight loss for 18 years and she was not impressed either with that weight loss or my current efforts. I will say that I was pre-diabetic in 2004 and that is what caused me to become interested in better health.

God bless you Sally, you're so beautiful. I'm about 90% sure I'm going through that oxalate dumping right now. I feel incredibly weird and yet my blood pressure and heart rate are impeccable. Also I have this rash on both of my hands (which I've endured since forever), but right now it went into full overdrive. And yes, I've been eating spinach, potatoes, and all kinds of "healthy" stuff pretty much daily for years, I genuinely thought that by ditching refined sugars, salt and saturated fats, and sticking to complex carbs, lean meat, and vegetables, I had this nutrition thing figured out. I must say, back in the day when I went "healthy", I did feel way better for a good while, but for years now I've been struggling with a few conditions that the doctors could never figure out. Apparently I've been living with rosacea, overactive bladder, and anxiety, with no solution but treating the symptoms. Anyway, I went carnivore about two weeks ago and it feels so good to be able to pee and empty my bladder in one go, also my nose seems to be clearing up slowly every day. Just yesterday, after eating a meal consisting of beef, liver, heart and eggs, I literally felt like I was having a thermonuclear reaction inside my body. I stood up promptly and spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning my house in turbo mode

I was trying to make a good impression at my new engineering job as a designer, but i was struggling. I had a random thought, "maybe veggies are actually bad for us". I looked it up and sure enough. I discovered oxalate overload, I think, from Mrs. Norton. I quit everything except meat cold-turkey. I sleep well the first night. On our exams we would find completely new problems we had never seen, and we would have to use what we learned in class as tools to figure out the problem on the exam. Sally Norton's abundance of knowledge goes without saying. But, because oxalates, phytates and other chemical compounds are found in so many foods, it would have been beneficial to touch on the ways to reduce these compounds like, for example, cooking vegetables, germinating nuts before baking/dehydrating, keeping hydrated throughout the day, incorporating lemon and ACV (which has been shown to stop the formation of crystals) etc etc.
I think it's important to discuss the ways to reduce the chemical warfare in plants, fruits, nuts etc because, being present in most foods, it really is more difficult to avoid rather than reduce

Really great conversation particularly towards the end where Sally states that oxalate dumping can occur 3 years after going carnivore. It seems to affect some, some badly and others not at all. Sally says some folks' food history has a long tail. That's me! Back in the 90s I went on a raw food diet. Oh my ...all those oxalate rich almonds.... I must have eaten tens of thousands. The conundrum is that you want to get rid of the stored oxalates but if your body releases too much at once you can end up in more trouble than you can deal with. In other videos Sally has stated that it can take up to 10 years to clear. Oh boy. Some of us will need to find a fast lane but safe oxalate dumping strategy.

Great conversation, glad to see you two together. Adding to Sally, I 've noticed the most health destructive forms of oxalate foods are coincidentally the ones high in Vitamin A / Beta Carotene. Together they're a nasty duo as opposed to foods high in oxalates and low in Vitamin A. I don't think oxalate clearing isn't done by itself but the body also detoxing conversions of Vitamin A and Retinol to 13-Cis-Retinoic Acid. This is the reason why some Carnivores who were previously Largely Planted Based experience Oxalate and Hypervitaminosis A detox with burning poop that feels acidic and sweat that burns the eyes while also discoloring their clothing and sheets with yellow. Other Carnivores like Nose to Tail who eat a lot of Liver feel the Vitamin A detox coming later. Then you have carnivores who are a combination of both of these who still suffer from different Autoimmune Complications mainly through the skin to detox like Hidradenitis Suppurativa, Psoriasis, and other skin conditions. It is even more important to abstain from these foods and ensure the Liver is running well and supplied with Zinc, Selenium, Molybdenum, and Magnesium to accomplish Phase 1 and 2 Detoxification to get rid of these. Some carnivores may be depleted with some of these Minerals and will start to see old symptoms brought up again once they have their Liver working to full capacity. This is one of the trickiest and most complicated problems I have seen.

I recently suffered a bout of acute kidney injury apparently due to vitamin C supplementation and high oxalate diet. The AKI is improved but I am left with CKD stage 3 apparently due to oxalate nephropathy. I do have stones, but never passed any, and never had known kidney disease before the oxalate debacle, nor any other risks factors for CKD. My nephrologist and renal dietician want me to severely limit protein intake, and esp. animal protein, stating it will make my CKD progress faster, that it is "very taxing on the kidneys". I am also advised against calcium, magnesium, potassium and salt etc. which you recommended. I love red meat and animal protein, and have become fearful of plant toxins and vitamins/supplements, but am confused what to eat. I also have chronic dysbiosis (possibly SIBO, leaky gut) with severe constipation, hypothyroidism, hyperlipidemia, and iron deficiency with all the associated symptoms. It is hard to know what is causing what, and It is quite the juggling act to address all these issues with diet simultaneously, as fixing one thing makes another worse. But my main question is about animal protein and CKD. Is it safe, or will it make CKD worse? I've been told to have a maximum of 3 oz of red meat per week. Also, as many videos as I have watched about oxalate toxicity, I have yet to find ANYONE that addresses oxalate nephropathy - stones, yes, but AKI and CKD from oxalates, no. I'm also confused about "oxalate dumping". There are some prominent kidney stone specialists online who say they have never seen this in their practice. Are there studies documenting the oxalate dumping and its correlation with symptoms? Where is the evidence showing "oxalate dumping" causing atrial fib. or electrolyte imbalance or metabolism issues and ICU visits? I'm not saying I doubt you, just would like to see the evidence. How can oxalates be measured clinically, apart from 24 hour urines? And if oxalate dumping is so common, why don't more people have oxalate nephropathy with AKI and CKD (like me), with the kidney being a primary target for oxalate damage? Is it possible oxalate dumping could cause a recurrence of the acute kidney injury on top of the already established chronic kidney disease? And, once a person has known oxalate toxicity or damage somewhere, are there a list of clinical tests that should be done to see if other tissues or systems are possibly dealing with this problem as well? Thanks so much for the discussion. I plan to buy the book.

Every podcast where she is featured,is one nugget after another of pure genius. I was never sicker or fatter than when I was eating a vegan diet. I completely wrecked my digestion. I found keto but unfortunately added in nuts, dark chocolate and blackberries and wondered why I didn’t feel amazing like everyone else on the diet. For me,carnivore is starting to heal my gut, but I have years and years of damage to undo.

Wonderful conversation. I especially appreciate Ms Norton's insight of early vegetarians putting ideology before the science instead of the other way around. The problem with ideology is that it stifles freedom to test and reach independent conclusions. But, as we know, ideologues aren't interested in testing their ideas. Thanks to both for a stimulating conversation.

Martin you are spot on in your observations 'ideology' and 'ideologues'. I have always been amazed at people who think they can just "conceive" of new ideas and then promptly treat them as though they're automatically confirmed due to some appealing aspects of the idea without having to do actual testing to verify their validity.

Have we all been deceived, everything is a lie .How grateful are we for the INTEGRITY OF THESE GENUINE DOCTORS. People are so sick and unwell, it is a tragedy to have all the studies and NO will to DO NO HARM 😢

Think Little Debbie’s…pure Seventh Day Adventist… I used to work there…I did not give my son the proper diet growing up, because we were taught vegetarian, the best were vegan, the very best, raw… after leaving that belief system, I have been learning the truth about diet and what is best for my son… he is to the point of not being able to walk or talk or do anything, he is 36… I gave him green smoothies everyday last 15 years or more… I’m wondering if all this oxalates have contributed to lifelong seizures, autism stuff and pain and DVTs and body being stiff and tight, etc…. Hoping to unwind him back to himself

Excellent interview, and thank you for sharing the experience of studying! It makes sense why a lot of experts don't know what is happening to our bodies and health. You pay a lot of money for education and you get confusion instead of proper knowledge.

I'm a recovering plant based addict. Now enjoying all the health benefits of switching to a meat based diet. Thanks for the heads up with the inner workings about toxins. The physiology is what helps me to understand it all.

I followed standard American diet for decades. Kidney stones, health issues galore. Went strict vegan for 8 months. Kidney stones still, lost muscle, hungry constantly , thinning hair pale skin. Went carni a year ago. I feel bad look 20 years younger. No kidney problem. All health issues disappeared completely in three weeks. I eat a lot of eggs cheese and sausage. Costs me less than $5 per day to eat and be totally satisfied and feel like a machine.

I have been carnivore for 2 years. I had a bad oxalate dumping episode about a week after I started. So I have been adding some oxalate back in until recently when I decided to try zero oxalates. So I am having some dumping now for sure. I guess the crystals are coming out of my back because it's very itchy and bumpy on and off. Anyway I just wanted to say that sprinting makes me feel better. I just sprinted and I'm not itching and feel great.

Best interview ever. I’m six weeks full carnivore and am now in agony. Oxalate dumping is killing me. I will now introduce some black tea..
