Thank you!!!!!!!! My mom had passed away and I’ve been sitting here trying sooo hard to remember how she would preserve corn back in the day. When I came across this video, it clicked. This is it!!! Thank you so much for sharing.
Actually scraping the cob with the back of the knife gets all the protein germ out of the cob. The little yellow germ where the kernel attaches to the cob is the most important part of the corn. It’s the real energy of the corn.🌽
Been doing the shuck, desilk, (can store in fridge in big zipper bags up to 3 -4 days,) boil-on-cob only long enough to blanch, cool in cold tap water, cut w/knife, scrape with knife, then zipper bag, vacuum all the air out and freeze. Did 2dz this afternoon by myself, but if you split the cutting/scraping/bagging to seperate people can do more or same in less time. Learned this method from my mom 50 yrs ago freezing Jersey corn in South Jersey. To use, we pull apart bag and put corn in a 2qt pot with some water and bring to a boil for a minute or two after all the corn is thawed. Have never tried microwaving it in the bag. Did try various corn cutter products, but most were more tedious to use than a good sharp utility knife.
Thank you so very much Last year did it on the cob and vacuum sealed it, lost more than a few abs it tastes a bit mushy on the ones we actually heated and ate. This way seems to be what most folks say is best , so THANKS!
I just came across you video. Where in PA are you and do you have a store? I am in PA Great tips, thank you for keeping us healthy with fresh. I live at my local farmers and butchers. never really go to grocery store anymore. Small Business is where it is at. Thank you again for your hard work. I would rather pay a little more for good items.
Thanks for the video. One question: I may have prepped more corn than i have tome to cook and bag today. Is there anything i can do so that i can finish it over the next 2 days, a bit at a time? Or is it a lost cause if i cant finish today?
Just the same way you would with store bought frozen corn. It really only takes a couple of minutes for corn to be crisp cooked, which is the best way to eat it. Between the time cooked before freezing and the heating up after, it's cooked plenty.
So if you boil it for only 3 minutes, then freeze... then when you are ready to thaw and eat, do you have to cook it some more? Or just heat it because it’s fully cooked?
We place bag and all in boiling water just till it's hot. Their way is hard. We boil the corn for 5 minutes on the cob. Then directly into ice water until cool. Then onto towels until thoroughly dry. Then cut off the cob and bag it. Been doing it this way for 30 years. And it tastes like you just picked it a year or two later.
I cut off the cob raw, vacuum seal. As soon as juice starts flowing toward the food saver, hit the seal button. Wrapped plenty tight and keeps very well. I am going to try the method in the video this year.
There is NOTHING better than sweet corn! I know it is wrong, but I could seriously eat one of those bags at a sitting by myself! Thanks for sharing.

Even the dogs get to enjoy the corn 🌽

And the cutter products tended to cut too close to the cob. Made for more whole kernels, but less juice to keep packs full to prevent freezer burn.
Wow we do this completely opposite. We boil on the cob, ice bath, take off cob and then bag. Thanks for sharing your way :)
Exactly!
We cut it off the cob and freeze it raw.
@@DCMae Hey, whatever works for ya. We've done that but don't like it as well.
Thank you so very much

Thank y'all, ears are shucked, washed, and ready to go. Blessings, julie
I enjoy all your videos!!! They are fantastic. Thank you for sharing and God bless you all
Thankyou for a straightforward ti the point video! Would also like basic cooking instructions for a bag of corn please and thanks!
This is so wholesome
Great video can I vacuum seal instead of using zip lock?
Great video! Used this last night and will be finishing up cooking it off and bagging today.
Awesome video! Thanks for posting. ❤️🌽
Thank you so much! We been shucking corn all day and want to freeze it - perfect
Best video ive seen on putting up your corn! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Awesome simple video. Thank you🥰
Great video! Thx for sharing!❤

We are in Nescopeck Pennsylvania. Thank you for watching & the compliments ☺️
@@BroyansFarm Do you have a Farm Store. I am near the Poconos and at Lockhaven much. I would love to stop in on one of my trips.
Well done!
great tip. Have you ever boiled it on the cob then iced it down, cut from cob, bagged??
We have not but that’s something I’d like to try!
It's more like a blanching than boiling. *I sprang for a "SHUCK BUDDY " just cause I'm a gizmo guy".😊
Wow, i always do whole ears then cut off the cob after blanching…but i think your way would be alot easier
That’s very interesting 😉 oh your videos are good😉 and I like the wink🤓
Thank you! 😃
I put my corn in plastic containers . I have never done corn your way . Can I use my freezer plastic containers doing your method instead of bags ?
Currently doing two bushels now. We use an electric knife.
Oh we blanch our first before cutting it off the cob!

It should be ok over the next two days if you have any doubt you can put it in a bowl in the refrigerator. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching 😊
How do you cook when ready to use? Dethaw or cook frozen? Thnx
Dethaw then cook, thanks for watching!!

ประเทศไทยจะเอาต้ม แล้วไปปั่น แล้วกรองทำเป็นน้ำนมข้าวโพดแช่เย็น เป็นขวด ๆ ขาย
Cooking it that way seems like it has too much water in it. Blanching it on the cob then removing the kernals like you did eliminates that problem.
Great video!!!!

what about a food saver used for corn in stead of freezer bags?
I’ve tried that and it just too much juice for a food saver.
@@tonyaatteberryCould you freeze them in bag before sealing to avoid the juices? Wondering if that would work.
You can make your bag a little bigger and freezer it first. Once totally frozen cut the top of the bag and vacuum and seal the bag for longer storage.
I cut off the cob raw, vacuum seal. As soon as juice starts flowing toward the food saver, hit the seal button. Wrapped plenty tight and keeps very well.
I am going to try the method in the video this year.
How much would a bag of corn like that sell for
We actually do not sell that in our store we just make it for ourselves. That would be a great idea though!
i learn something
Hey
We say shucks not husks and silk not hair; not sure where y’all are from but definitely not the south lol
Silk, not hairs. 😉
