- After dislocating my collarbone on Stage 5, getting up for a 919km ride day for Stage 6 was a big ask.
In part 6 of my 'Dakar Diaries', I have shared some more onboard out of the 4-hour day on Stage 6. Before we left the liaison, I spoke to Gareth Jones #122 to say, if I get stuck, to please give me a hand. As you will see in this episode, I did get very stuck at one point and Gareth was awesome.
Stage 7 was cancelled for the bikes and quads due to terrible weather, so I had a lay-in. I got the bike prepped and rode from the bivouac in Riyadh to the start of Stage 8.
Thanks to the family who were waiting for me as I left Riyadh. I didn't see them until the last second! They came back to meet me properly on the rest day, but that's in Part 7!

Fantastic job good to meet you at TT and buy a piece of your road book. Like you said about war I was over there in 91 for the gulf war on a 500 Armstrong as part of a transport squadron and the riding was tough. Hopefully see you at TT 25
ive done enduro practice days in kent and i cant walk for a week after riding...seeing your journy through the desert injured deserves respect... ime so wanting you to finish the rally,, keep pushing james..
