The art explaining part is so funny. Your reviews have hearts and souls. Yesterday I have seen you both at Shut Up and Sit down Meeple Circus 5 players play video (Oh dear, such a brilliant video). Then searched up for your channel, Meeple Circus Review is wonderful but this top 5 is Wow. All your hearts and souls are into making this mega fun to watch.
This is possibly the most eclectic top 10 list from a game reviewer(s) I've ever seen. I wouldn't put any of them in my top 25, most likely (of those I've played that are on your list), but your choices are certainly some fresh air for viewers to consider and ponder. I'll go back to my Russian Railroads now and score some more points. However, I would like to say I get a big kick our of your videos and I look forward to more biting British humor! And perhaps a review of the Clank expansion that just released...
Right now, Hugh and Stephen are doing a meta-meta-meta...(some amount of metas) sketch with regards to the Gloomhaven one: " We bloody wrote that! You can't bloody well steal something we've written! That's our sketch and you bloody nicked it! We wrote it years ago, years ago.Prove it? Of course we can't bloody prove it. I mean, what do you think we are, for God's sake? Look, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, that's our sketch."
Is gloomhaven or jaws of the lion just kill monsters, grab treasure, repeat? Or is there any puzzles to solve with in each quest to give it depth. I struggle to grasp that from the various reviews. Nice top 10. Would love to play twilight imperium but alas I need more friends and ones that want to spend all day playing it :(
Concordia is so good! It's like Catan went to grad school. It just edges out Troyes as my favourite Euro - while Troyes is the better two-player experience, Concordia is easier to learn and thus faster to get good at.
Gloomhaven dominates our dining/game table every Wednesday night. My lady and her mates have been "plying(?)" it for a few months now. Occasionally I watch.. It looks awkward and contrived to me. What's with the whole keeping track of order thing they need to do??!! ..and the constant rules discussion that seem to be needed. Still they enjoy it enough to continue with it every Wednesday eve'... The popularity of this puzzles me in the same way people liking Kingdom Death does.
You can pretty easily have one or two guest characters for drop-ins - letting you play mostly with the two of you, but occasional sessions with other people joining in. The first couple of scenarios serve as a tutorial, but once you're past them, the storyline branches (and you unlock additional scenarios either as random side-scenarios, or as the result of choices on event cards, or as part of characters' personal quests) so you can explore one branch while waiting for someone who's played a bit of some other branch to be available. If you're only expecting a given character to be played once or twice by guest players, I'd be inclined to skip giving them a personal quest - you can always retcon one in if they want to keep going after their first couple of plays...
You are just funny , you know this i am sure , so much sarcasm and good pun jokes, nice couple i ma sure you aren't bored at all. as for the list , not sure i agree on all but the way you presented each game cleared and explained your point of view, so i absolute give you like! and subscribe
Much of a muchness really. Some people really dislike some whilst others really love those ones. We despised Squeak and Sausage whilst some say it's their favourite. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
BUT WAIT! What about the clearly mechanically superior Inka and Marcus Brand's EXIT, the game series? I'm honestly jealous of you folks for managing to enjoy Unlock! despite the mostly drab and uninteresting puzzles (some are good, to be fair). I so very much want to like those games but so far I din't quite manage to, they felt just a little too shallow. Do you reckon that the second batch (Pirates, Submarine, Mansion?), which is apparently a bit better, might change my mind?
Good to know I'm not the only one who thought this way. My wife and I finished The Forgotten Island last night (our 4th Exit game) and both of us agreed they are just so much better than Unlock. I realize Unlock is handicapped by having to stick to cards that you can't ruin, but the puzzles in Exit have so much variation compared to Unlock that it's not even a contest in my opinion.
@@crumpledfish Agreed, Exit is better than Unlock because, not despite it's consumable format. Puzzles can be much more creative because of that "issue". Also, the Submarine is probably the most terrible Unlock, though the other two of the second batch are about on par with the first box, imho.
Will I enjoy these if... Hm... You know what, I guess I'll just take your word for it... .... This time. *Puts on his slippers and sits by the fire, he's reached his top and just can't get any higher*
Twilight Imperium - a day of playing to realize we didn't have any incentives, but role playing to attack, backstab etc. The game lacks of incentives not to bunker yourself somewhere. Unless someone comes to the point of boredom and says "screw it," and does something crazy, they lose the game, but something happens. It's sad - the person who makes the game a bit interesting is the loser.
You are truely playing with the wrong people then XD, I played 7 games of TI3 and every time it was an interesting back and forth even with 8 players. Turteling? We had it for 2 rounds in one single game because of some interesting law combination, but all other times it was extremely interactive.
Definitely need more Elaine Freud analysis in future reviews!
the writing for this video is excellent
The BEST board game top 10 I have ever seen. I was wondering who the first reviewers would be to combine skipping and jelly.
Imagine buying Gloomhaven only to open it upon arrival and realize it's just Elaine in the box!
"If found please return to Efka"
Well done, both. This could well be the greatest number of laughs per video you have ever provided yours truly.
Wow,great list, and even more you guys seem to be in such an amazing mood in this video. No Pun Included at it's finest wit , and energy level.
I appreciate the time it would have taken you to set up Twilight Imperium and Gloomhaven just for this top 10 video
"Dr. Frederika Sauerkraut" hahahahaha that was great! I need more psychological outdoor analysis of board games by the distinguished Dr. Sauerkraut!
*Votes for more Dr Sauerkraut in the future*
I think you need a new segment for every new game you review. "Will Elaine fit in the box?"
...or "Is the box lid heavy enough to injure Efka?" or both? ^^
Love your sense of humor!... I totally fell for the Star Wars one... thought it was gonna be Rebellion 😅 Great top 10!!! Cheers
Love these videos! Tour de force!

I had no idea that Elaine has such a pleasant singing voice! I just love that Kinks’ song “Concordia”...

I was just wondering when this was coming out. Thanks for the pleasant surprise, guys! Great work!

Really enjoyed your top 10! Great to see Unlock! on this list. I will always buy them when they come out. They are so excellent!!!
Have you guys played Kingdom Death: Monster? I would really like to see you do a video of that huge money sink
I'd agree that it's nice to see you both in such good, high spirits... very entertaining! Alex Bardy
Gloomhaven is the only game my co-workers and I called off sick to play a whole day of it.
how have i just found this amazing channel
A great list and presentation. Thanks.
Concordia is so good! It's like Catan went to grad school. It just edges out Troyes as my favourite Euro - while Troyes is the better two-player experience, Concordia is easier to learn and thus faster to get good at.
You two do great work. The effort, integrity, and chemistry is obvious. Cheers!
FINALLY! And definitely worth the wait. :D
Didn't know this about the Kinks. So much unanticipated educational value here on top of game jubilation!
Will we ever see a Kingdom Death Monster review? Pleaseness?
I like KDM so it would be a very negative review from them. I really don't think you want that.
Completely agree on Unlock!
the part two was not less interesting than the first part , nice list and some enthusiasm in presenting game :)
This... is the one that convinces me to subscribe.
Thank you, especially for the TI IV joke :*)
I need to know where the Don puppet (in background) is coming from! :D
Elaine sits in box.
I subscribe to channel...
I've just discovered you guys, and im very glad i did.
great work!
Hi guys love your channel.
Where is part 1 of this video?
th-cam.com/video/kUeR4DPVg20/w-d-xo.html
What a dick move with moving TI4 with Star Wars theme. I was so close to closing the video. Fortunately you guys are damn entertaining.
Nice guitar skills!
I've only played it the once, but, from that limited experience, it looks like Lords of Hellas might end up beating Kemet for that slot...
2:27 killed me! :) well done good madame! :D

Do you guys play Gloomhaven just the two of you? Does that experience feel complete?
We played it at all counts. It's not a game that really requires a consistent group. Feels pretty great at two.
No Pun Included Looking to primarily play with my girlfriend, as involving other people consistently can be tricky. Thanks for the reply!

You two make such an awesome team, how I hope that Elaine can come full time soon!
I can't like it twice, but I want to, for the Monty Python joke :D
Twilight Imperium . By the time you set the game up your holiday is over. PASS UGH!.
wheres gaia project?
No Terra Mystica?
LOL! +100 for Elaine as Dr Sauerkraut! LOL!!! :D
Well done!
Favorite Unlock games? Or ones to avoid? In the US we have to buy them all separately.
Much of a muchness really. Some people really dislike some whilst others really love those ones. We despised Squeak and Sausage whilst some say it's their favourite. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bloody loved the TI joke 😝
Armpit Hillarious!!!
I can't believe I watched this entire video!
I see Donatello, I click like
what a shame elaine is not going full time npi 😢
I too enjoy my washing machine and lack of small pox! I guess we are more alike than we ever realized... 😉
Will I enjoy these if... Hm... You know what, I guess I'll just take your word for it... .... This time. *Puts on his slippers and sits by the fire, he's reached his top and just can't get any higher*
Wait. Scythe isn't on your top 10!? Really? Wow...
Also, I'm pretty sure Elena is a cat.
Why? There are loads of Euros - recent and old - that are better than Scythe.
I will always like Scythe, but there are probably better games out there with its mechanics.
Twilight Imperium - a day of playing to realize we didn't have any incentives, but role playing to attack, backstab etc. The game lacks of incentives not to bunker yourself somewhere. Why don’t you guy ever talk about Talisman !
Whoah.... Are those tobacco pipes real?
Only as much as the deerstalker is real.
If you want to recreate politics, i recommend New Angeles
That seems to be an armpit 😂
Talisman at no.1 or bust.
Castles of Burgundy . Everything else miscellaneous.
Unlock? Hated it, hated it, hated it. Tried Exit. Hated it, hated it, hated it. So, not a genre for me.
