AS67 - ALLISPORT OFF ROAD INTERCOOLER KIT FOR DISCOVERY 3 & 4 / RANGE ROVER SPORT TDV6
www.lrparts.net/as67-allispor...
This off road intercooler is a superb bit of engineering and promises not only great access for a winch but also huge gains in power coupled with a stage tune map.
There are various problems with the original Land Rover intercooler design, primarily due to blocking up of the core with mud when the vehcile is used off road, due to the intercooler being mounted at the lowest point in the front of the car.
These high spec vacuum brazed and TIG welded intercoolers are designed to be easier to clean and less prone to blockage due to the courser, less dense fin design whilst dramatically improving flow, performance and economy even without any further tuning.
The Hi-Mount intercooler kit is designed with the more serious off road driver in mind. This kit repositions the intercooler out of the worst of the mud and also allows for the fitment of many of the concealed winch mounts.
The cooling surface is marginally reduced in comparison to the Fast Road kit but cooling and performance are dramatically improved over standard.
Tests have shown a minimum improvement in fuel economy of 12-15% even when combined to remaps or tuning units from other companies.
Power and throttle response in the lower and mid-range engine revs particularly are noticeably improved.
Kits are designed to be simple to install without major modifications to the car.
Kit consists of - Hi-Mount Intercooler (dimensions 680mm x 340 x 60) Mounting brackets 2 x Silicone Hose extensions Alloy Cooling Fan blank plate Installation guide pictures
High quality vacuum brazed cores are used and all products are manufactured to British Standard. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Thanks for sharing. It's an enigma with the D3 and things not lining up , I fit winch mounts to them using the same 4 holes per side and they always need fettling. I've got 3 in the yard now and I can guarantee if I took a Terraferma winch mount out the box and offered it up to each probably only one would fit without some adjustment. Allisport are right when they suggest your D3 has probably had a shunt to the bumper in the past. Let's face it 17 years can carry a lot of history but that's why we love them 😁
I fitted the "Road" intercooler witch sits lower down.. It fitted no problem, I didn't have to cut or trim amy thing.. The biggest improvement I felt was in mid range power and I found it picked up quicker from a stand still...
Did you see any change in economy, I know it’s a 2 ton brick 😂

For the cost of the intercoolers, the least I would expect is the bolt holes and mounting points to be in the right places. I’ve done it in the past and bought cheaper accessories and get miffed when they don’t fit but then think to myself ‘hang on, they were cheap’. I wouldn’t expect the same from a company such as Allisport when paying the premium prices their products demand.
I agree but as I said at the end, I think the D3 might have had a small shunt at the front knocking things out of line a little. But we'll be checking when we go down in a few weeks.
I agree, lots of cash for a poorly executed product
Great content, as always. I am in the process of selling my LR Freelander 2 and my Volvo V70, leaving me rolling around in my Skoda Kodiaq...
... but, there's a LR Discovery 4 winking at me at the moment, and I am trying to come up with reasons why I shouldn't (so far, nothing comes to mind) 🙂
Looking at fitting the Fast Road intercooler on my D3 and now wondering what happens to the oil? cooler. I guess I will have try and find the fitting instructions.
I've secured it with zip ties for now but I'll be fititng P clips moving forwards.
@@LRLiveUK P Clips sounds perfect for that job. AlliSport replied very promptly to my query and sent me a link to the instructions. It's all clear now. Cheers.
After watching this, I'm wondering if i can fit one to my 1986 LR90 with the 19j engine, and if it would make any difference 😀
I don't think it would help much unless you upgraded to a hybrid turbo maybe. Sounds crazy but NOS would work better delivered gently!
so sad the 4.4 has nothing to its name😥
