- Is it the lack of sun that makes them gray or are they just sick? Are they worshiping a giant chicken? Why did they get (allegedly) evicted from their mansion? And why does the name “Johnny” cause vindicators to go bananas? We sat down with Laura de Llorens, Jens “Jeb” Bergensten, Samuel Åberg, and Kevin Grace, hoping they’d have some answers when it comes to the origin of illagers and why they sometimes turn blue sheep red.
How to summon an Illusioner in Minecraft:
1. Turn on the 'cheats' option before entering your world.
2. Open the chat window.
3. Type the command: /summon illusioner
4. Once the cheat has been entered, the Illusioner will spawn and appear in your world.

Thank you, Jens, for further confirming that Echoing Void DLC of Minecraft Dungeons includes future planned out End Update 2.0 for Vanilia Minecraft. It's the only DLC that includes entirely different environment than the ones seen in Vanilla Minecraft - being End's 3 new biomes alongside existing one.
For people saying, "Finally Minecraft lore" Minecraft Legends is literally a lore game, reveals how illagers formed, the nether war, piglins, one the actions human players have caused like the extinction of certain animals in minecraft
Minecraft Legends is confirmed to be a myth, that means that there's things that are "lore" and happened on vanilla, and there's things that are not and are exclusive to Minecraft legends.
Lore can be found even in the original game, because it's full of ancient structures with histories you can interpret

I actually grew to like Illagers after I caught one in a boat and Harrmen lived outside my window for nearly a year. When I finally got around to making an Iron farm he hopped right in the Minecart as if he knew just what I needed. I even put a sign underneath that read "Harrmen's Iron Farm" because he was the one running it.😊

3:07 To be honest, I just simply love the idea, of an illager focused series, they always felt like they had so much potential, being one of the few beings left capable of having built their own structures, and discovering the world, being only beat in that department by the player.
And heck, maybe we could learn why they pillage, and perhaps have them discover about the origins of all the ancient Minecraft structures, just seems like it'd be fun, like what would they think of the player from their perspective?

@@HenryHope-ef9qi Illagers kinda are "villager soldiers" according to legends, but they ended up becoming hostile towards villagers who did not take up arms like they did. Acording to the Rise of the Arch-Illager, the villagers who inhabit villages as we know them are a "peaceful people who know better than violence", however, "the world is sometimes not as kind, so that's where the golems come in". While it would be cool to have humanoid friendly soldiers, adding villager soldiers would be a contradiction to the lore, and defeat the very notion of "villager".

They're either adding more Illagers to Minecraft or They're going to develop a Dungeons sequel. Either one would be amazing, I LOVE Illagers!
I think since this video is about the main Minecraft game and jeb at the end said “the game” he’s talking about regular Minecraft. Either would be amazing but I hope we get some more in vanilla first!!!

It's minecraft, it doesn't have to make sense. Bottles are more convenient for the player, and hey it opens the door for other ominous events in the future

We REALLY need a village expansion update. Maybe more interactions with villagers. I want to see more elaborate villages.
Personally, my favorite part of the Illagers is that they’re allies with hostile mobs, which may show that unlike the regular Villagers, when they worked together in Legends, they never really stopped their alliance, which is something pretty cool. Imagine just having that generational pact with the literal undead legions so you can have a giant mansion and just chill with them there.

Edit: I just noticed I mixed up my thoughts about the Illusioner with the Iceologer (blue, uses magic) but _neither_ of them are in unmodified survival anyways so my point still seems to stand.

0:45 This is definitely just a joke I’m reading too much into but it aligns strongly to my theory of what Illagers are. Ever since vexes were retextured to look like Allays, I’ve maintained that Illagers are just Villagers with some kind of curse or infection that made them gray and agressive, and were exiled from the village. This would explain why they hunt villagers (for revenge) AND why there are Allays in mansions and outposts- Vexes are Allays that are modified by whatever curse or infection that made the Illagers gray and aggressive. Just found it funny that Mojang made a “Illager is just a sick villager” joke when that’s my theory for what happened. This was challenged by Minecraft Legends, but that game is ambiguous on whether the events therein actually happened or are just a story, so for all we know it could be fiction the villagers use to cover up what really happened to create the Illagers.

they didn't say it as if it's the name of the structure, and a tower and outpost are not mutually exclusive things..
Outpost is the main tower structure and the other minor structures that can form at an outpost like target range, allay cage, iron golem cage, and the tent.
The Woodland Mansion definitely needs a ton of buffs like new illagers and items. Ever since 1.14's addition of raids and totems of undying no longer being exclusive to the mansions, there was no reason to go to one. Now, the only reason to go is for an armor trim template. That's it so hearing Jeb say that they have more plans for illagers in the future is definitely exciting
Right now you can get an efficiency 1 golden apple from the hidden tree room chest if you're into collecting unique items

- & maybe the mage (from the arcade game, which seems to use lighting magic)
Mages are the mainland counterpart of the Iceologer. Instead of lifting chunks of ice and smashing them against their targets, they lift their very own targets and smash them against the ground, which is pretty much the same ability but the other way around. There's also the Mystic who wore brown robes in the same style as the Mage and Iceologer, but it was scrapped.
I can get behind this list 100%. The only ones i can see never being added would be Archie (since he was already defeated), the Royal guards and Vindicator Chefs (as funny as they would be to have in game.)
Should they also include the Armored variants of the Vindicator, Pillager and Mountaineer?
@ like the gold & Diamond trimmed variants? Yes! They could be what make the raids different when players drink high level ominous bottles. They wouldn’t have more health but they’ll have more stats like armor points & enchanted weapons.
Example: the gold variants would have the stat of full gold armor & the same would go for diamond.

Yea, the Illagers play an exclusive cheering animation and sounds after winning a raid. The Pillager actually even plays a celebrating raid horn sound, different from those that play at the beginning of each wave.
I just love the idea of of having a evil army invading your world and would love to see new structures and more Illager variants

Something interesting to consider for anyone who likes to build off of quasi-lore: The illagers having the apparently maleable concept of a "bad thing happening" in bottled form means they have some level of insight into the meta layer of the world and the knowledge to magically affect it.
At least that's how I like to interpret the fact that the thing that can make trial spawners go into overdrive can also initiate a full scale raid out of thin air - the illagers have figured out that they are narratively the bad guys and are using it to paracausally create armies for their raids.
i think the implication is that they are followoing the player to the village as revenge for killing the captain ,
@@conorprendergast9876 That used to be the case until the bad omen effect was turned into a potion that the pillager captain drops rather than being an effect instantly applied to you for killing one. And like I said, the fact that this same bad omen effect can now trigger something completely separate from an illager raid means it's a much more generalized concept that they've managed to figure out how to obtain in a storable form and actively use to bolster their attacking power.
Plus, I just like concept magic like that, where an entity within the narrative is able to at least partially manipulate and interact with certain narrative elements on the meta level. Like in this case the illagers having and exploiting a definitive answer to the question "who are the bad guys?"
It's Minecraft-typical quasi-lore, so everything is up to interpretation and full of gaps for you to fill yourself, but this is the way it works best for me.

Something i haven’t seen anybody talk about is the fact that the Illagers run away from The Creaking, but The Creaking doesn’t attack them, that’s just LORE of the connection between the Illagers and the Pale Garden.
