Very cool but I'm worried this will make my bonfire too big for a back garden if I make one.

Reminds me of being a kid and making a guy, exactly the same. My mum had a 'rag bag' of old clothes so would get everything out of there or my dad might give me an old jumper or shirt to burn. I would then spend perhaps a good few hours ripping up rags and scrunching up newspaper to stuff it full. Used to make the head from papier mache around a balloon.
I remember always being proud of the finished guy and there was the excitement for Nov 5th when my dad would light the bonfire and it would be time to put the guy on to burn. I recall my dad telling me when i was about 4 or 5 and having made my first guy, not really understanding the whole bonfire night thing, that i got quite upset when he threw it on the bonfire, not realising I think the whole reason of making it was to burn it.
Shame, I doubt many kids make guys now and few people have back garden fireworks or bonfire. I do remember years ago one of our local organised displays had a 'make a guy' event, so kids could either make a guy or bring theirs along for judging and there were prizes given out before the end of the evening they'd all be gathered up and thrown on to the bonfire.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to submit such an amazing comment. As my daughter and I put the Guy together, memories of making one with my dad came flooding back. I must have been about 6 at the time. A golden memory to cherish for sure. I am thinking about putting together a short film about the day after Bonfire Night (the joys of collecting dead fireworks). Would you mind if I use some of the text in your comment in the film?
      d.

@@NutsinMay yes, that's fine to use my comments. There was the day after bonfire night, where you'd rake though the remains of the bonfire and then go round the garden to find the remains of the fireworks, there was often one that failed to go off properly or you forgot about.
