I’d swap the travel wallet for concealed waist belt with cash, passport, and extra credit card in case I lose or someone steals my purse. I also take copies of my passport and credit card backs and put in my suitcase and carry and also a copies of my itinerary so I can still function if they get lost or stolen from me. This is especially important if you have everything in your phone and it’s get lost or stolen. There was a gentleman in the hotel lobby in Portugal and he lost his phone and was freaking out because he also had his only credit card on the back in a slot on phone. I felt really bad for him but it’s a lesson learned!
A toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, deodorant, and spare panties always come with me in my personal bag. You never know when you'll have an unexpected layover and your checked bag is unaccessible (for flights when I'm not traveling carry-on only).
For short trips I use contact lense cases for things like toothpaste, eye cream, foundation- anything I don’t need a lot of. They hold a surprising amount of product.
Generally, I'm a carry-on-only lady, so I make sure to keep everything really streamlined. I fell in love with ten mil squeezy bottles from Amazon last year -- what a difference! So many travel-sized products are still very bulky, so those save me lots of space. In contrast, I like the 2 oz travel jars -- if anyone knows where to find them nowadays, please tell me! As for the actual products, I like to take products that multitask; cold cream can take off makeup, cleanse, and moisturize, a good moisturizer can also tame flyaways & keep my ends soft, a tinted sunscreen can serve as my base, etc., etc. Another product I've fallen in love with: powder sunscreen! Great for touch-ups, and also to help with shine!
VI poo, Andrex toilet wipes, my small compact mirror that I won in an Xmas cracker! I wear the jewellery that I take (which isn't much). Travel tissues, vaseline pot for lip balm. I avoid the toilets on the plane, if possible, I tend to rush to the airport terminal toilets as they are better maintained and more spacious and pleasant to use.
I bring lots of used but clean plastic bags of several sizes as so light and fold up to nothing( Im a carry on only girl so all weight is important to me) - great to put dirty things/ clothes in ( or keep clean things clean) I put my shoes in plastic so not dirtying rest of luggage and always a pair of ballerina type shoes so easy to slip on/ off on the plane and theyre light!!
Noticed it was either business or first class seats that are featured. If only Gemma…can you imagine giving a good clean around when you have a stranger huddled at the side of you?
Yes and if you have to get up, to let the stranger out of their seat, for the WC. They will be touching your area to get out. Not good and not possible for some passengers to pay for business or first class seats.
Hi Gemma!!! Thank you for this video! I always have a packing list! Hand wipes and Clorox wipes are #1! A close 2nd are tissue, lip gloss, and a small refillable spray bottle of rose facial toner. I have a really small amber glass spray bottle (half an ounce) that allows me to spritz a light mist that is refreshingly cool and moisturizing to my face, neck, and hands! Layering is essential to regulating your body temperature! My last must travel item is a cross body handbag to keep everything close and in front of you for ease of access. It also allows you to have your hands free for all the other necessary tasks! Also, put your cross body handbag on before your overcoat for extra security and protection!❤
Definitely a flat crossbody bag to hold passport boarding phone tissues soap leaves etc. I recently wore a bum bag but it didn't work for me. Mia Tui Jen bag with the cross body bag, clear pouch and loads of organisation are wonderful. X
I use a Sash bag. It’s a type of purse that holds all my documents close to my body and in safely zippered compartments and I don’t have to take it off.
I think doing a video on what to take to the hospital. If you’re going to stay there, a few days would be a good one. I packed a bag for my husband, so once I’m in my room, he brings it to me a robe slippers, lip balm, that kind of stuff.😊
I pride on being prepared for anything when travelling. I always pack a pair of extra underwear and tampons, some sweets or energy bar for blood sugar drops and a small first aid kit with pain killers and some plasters. Oh and a face mist is lovely after a flight. Thank you for a great video!
Dragging that cubic hard jewellery case around had me aghast.... My well-travelled mother used a Chinese silk brocade jewellery roll since back in the 70s - soft, lightweight, easy to pack into small nooks in your suitcase/bag. There are so many types now, after a quick scour on Etsy, even saw a drawstring pouch with little pockets inside.
Yes, a terrible situation. Just a suggestion, ask the flight attendant if there are any remedies on board. My airline stocked over the counter remedies. Retired flight attendant.
I am a frequent traveler both internationally and domestically. For the most part, I try to only carry on. For long haul flights, those neck pillows are worthless. I use a small down filled pillow that can be stuffed into a very small sack. It is great and just the right size. In my small carry on, I also put a small comb. That way I don't have to get into the larger carry on for my brush when I am on the flight. The blanket/wrap is great, but I have found that a wool/silk pashmina is my preferred "cover". It is stylish, lightweight but warm when the plane gets cool.
Love a travel pillow! Essential toiletries, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, moisturiser, wipes or facecloth. Also if travelling long distance I like to have a change of clothing in case of luggage loss.
Had 3 very Long flights over the last 12 months.. Elizabeth Arden fragrance free - 8 hour cream and Lipbalm, a saltwater spray for the nose in the very dry sometimes warm Cabin, a flexible head pillow, wich has good support , as the soft cheap “wobbely” ones are not a good support. A firm one wich alsupport your chin , is a must for me.. And a very little bottle with ricinus Oil , wich helps you to prevent dry skin Or a drop through your hair before landing, wich make your hair shine a lot Travelling from a very cold destination, i wear thin wool t shirt and Long Johns , and take it of in the bathroom when we are halfway. It really saves space, as you dont need your warm coat as you departure, and it helps me keeping warm at wintertime, in the Long cold corridors in the airport in the waiting area and boarding .
Excellent video. I could not add anything to your list if essentials. Wonderful comments regarding cleanliness and safety ( no bare feet). Great job on this one. Retired flight attendant. 😊
Aside from the usual toothpaste, toothbrush, floss...I like to pack samples of face moisturizer and serum. I have to have my special hair styling product - I can't live without it. I was forced to once when the airline lost my bag - my hair was an unmitigated disaster. Naturally cosmetics come with: foundation, powder, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick.
Your book light tip is a very good idea. I hadn't thought of that one before. Also, I wish I had a wrap when coming home from Mexico. The airport air conditioning was so high. Between picking up a stomach bug in Mexico, & the icy airport, I was freezing for hours before I boarded the plane!
I've recently packed a few of fold out fabric trays for my watch and jewellery and for makeup and hair items. It's easier to find what I want than rummaging through bags or searching round the room.
Within the 100ml limit I take eye drops, moisturiser/face mist, L’Occitane original hand cream mini & lip balm, tin of Vaseline, perfume sample bottle, allergy spray, sanitiser spray pen. Even though I can happily take a cabin bag on holiday I struggle with liquids due to sensitive skin needing sun protection.
Hmm take a nap and you will be in your destination in no times. Many of the things on your list are useful during a trip but not necessary during a flight. I was a consultant for 14 years and flew and worked onsite at least 75% of my work hours. I know what’s life is living with a suitcase.
Thanks for a great topic and all the suggestions. My best tips is a hydramist, that a spray in my face especially on long flights. Then I’ll be hydrated again. /Marie from Sweden
It still amazes me how people STARE at me when I wipe down the armrests/tray table/headrest/window ledge/seat/air nozzles. I've done this even before the pandemic. I also started using 'orphan socks' (the one sock wonders we all seem to have after laundry day, regardless of using a mesh bag😆) when going through the TSA detector. About 15 years ago, I was headed for a flight. Ahead of me, a very nervous service dog had gone through. (I thought it would have been more feasible to wand the pet parent and pup but I guess the fur mum wasn't aware.) Anyway, I noted to the agent that the floor was wet and I requested to be wanded. But I was already in my socks. I went through on the other side and was so disgusted that I just chucked the socks. Glad they were fairly cheap ones, but I got the idea from then on to always put on a pair of orphan socks over my knee highs/thin socks so when I get to the bench on the other side, I can just whip them off and slip my loafers back on. This way, when I go through, I just peel off the outer ones and my clean socks are still with me. I know I'm single handedly contributing to landfills, but seeing I travel by air about 90% less than probably anyone else, I'll take the heat for it. As far as packing cubes go, I can't say enough about them! I still have my parachute material ones first set from WM from 7 years ago. (3/$10 can't be beat!) No rips/stains/holes at all. My very first time using them was on extended visits to see my dad when Alzheimer's set in then as he went into hospice before he passed. Going from GA to NY every 3 to 4 months for 3 years, I needed to travel with as little as possible and be able to carry on my NY winter weather essentials. A woman ahead of me was pulled to the side because her suitcase showed cracking between the outer shell and the plastic underlining. So as the grungy-gloved TSA agent is rifling through her delicates touching EVERYTHING, moving camisoles, delicates, etc, she was just mortified, not to mention embarrassed, especially when delicates fell to the side. I could tell she was visibly disgusted. When we got to the bench area, I mentioned to her if she wanted to know how to avoid the rifling through next time. I unlocked my suitcase and lifted my four packing cubes out by the handle. I told her they would have never touched her items because she could have lifted it all out and let them have at it. She had never heard/seen them before. It took me less than five minutes to pop them back in, lock, and leave. I think I added a believer to the 'CubeMovement' ☺ ~Best to all
So Ironic! Watched this while packing for my flight from Miami to NYC! I must ALWAYS bring an iPad with me which has my favorite series or movies downloaded to watch on my flight ✈️ 😊. And perhaps dark chocolate 🍫. Maybe a favorite tea bag since the tea bags on the plane are terrible….😂 Xoxo 😘
Thank you. Do you have suggestions for packing for a trip video? I know you like the cubes, but the best way to roll your clothes either for the luggage or the cubes?
Yes to all of the above plus: I bring my own teabags wherever I go (in a clear plastic pencil case) I bring a bikini, flip flops, sundress, bra and knickers - all black - rolled up in a plastic ziploc baggie. God forbid my checked luggage goes astray I can survive.
Since the UV exposure is so high on planes, I always add a small bottle of sunscreen. I also put in lotion since the air is so drying. Then the normal stuff, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, floss, small bar of soap or soap leaves, hairbrush, small shampoo and conditioner, wipes, tinted moisturizer and moisturizing lip gloss or stick.
After an unexpected squashing incident in my suitcase I will never again 1) pack a full-sized tube of toothpaste at all and 2) even the small sized one will never go in my suitcase. Toothpaste may be "clean and minty" but it's a horrible substance to get off every item in your toiletry bag, especially if it's dried and hardened while sitting in the cargo hold for 9+ hours!
If you live in the States, LUSH makes a great toothpaste tablet that's really easy to travel with! I bought some on a trip, and they didn't break or crumble at all on the way home!
My must have travel list are toothpaste and toothbrush, cashmere wrap or cardigan or both and a pair of cozy sucks because I get so cold in planes. Nice video 👍🏽
I usually fly intercontinental flights, and because it is usually difficult for me to readily find my size (shoes or clothing) in some parts of the world. I always pack spare undies, an easy top in my carry-on bag in case of lost baggage, missed flights, or delays. Even if I don't have my cycle, I pack at least 2 pads/liners. My whole eye gear: contacts, spare contacts, glasses, extra reading glasses, sunglasses with and without prescription 😂😂 and a very small bottle of white flower oil. White Flower oil is most sold in Hong Kong but may be found in any Chinese purveyor. It is made with many flowers and menthol and can help with issues from headaches, colds, bug bites, and sore muscles. The bottles are light, tiny, and will travel super well. 😊
Great video, Gemma! I always take socks or pads to wear when I must take off my shoes at the security gate. When I take them off, I turn them inside out & wrap them in some tissue until they can be laundered.
This is a brillant list that is helpful for those persons who are not frequent travelers. One thing I use to do is travel with a big shawl but not cashmere, instead I bring two good quality synthetics and store one in a rectangular zippered bag. This becomes my travel pillow, demi-blanket, extra layer while traveling. I have two different colors for wardrobe versatility, black as a neutral and rose or wine for a pop of color (that one stays in the bag) and because they're synthetic, I can hand or machine wash them so I don't have to concern myself with the dirty environment these are protecting me from.
As far as taking toiletries on board, the things I take are a tiny bottle of contact cleaner, tiny 1/2 oz jar of Vaseline for hands, and my lip gloss. The rest goes under the plane. I think a sophisticated traveler just takes a tiny bag on board and the rest is checked.
I try to bring one outfit or extra shirt in the carry on. You never now what may happen to your checked bag. It's risky but I have traveled with tiny bags on board too.
Great video, if flying long haul, I take face moisturiser, anti bac wipes, mints, toothbrush and a mini deodorant. Can you share the link to the cashmere scarves you showed please? Thx
If you wear prescription glasses, take an extra pair in case one breaks. This happened to me in Costa Rica. Since I had a second pair with me, it was no big deal, but had I not taken an extra pair, it would have been a disaster.
Gemma, nooooooo! My cashmere wrap will never touch the seat back of an airplane! I buy a cheap blanket at IKEA and drape it over the entire seat, then leave it on the plane.
Me: crossbody bag, socks lol, sanitizer, coffee cup which i fill with water, coffee/tea sachets, plastic cutlery just in case, sandwich or smth to eat, ipad, healthy snack, umbrella lol, dental floss, toothbrush, toothpaste, book or e reader, brush, small supermarket fabric bag, little fan in the summer, squeeze bottles for toileteries, individual wipes, face cloth, ziplock bags, notepad, nail file, undies..
Definitely…recently went on 2 week trip and luggage never showed so these comfort items became life savers… tummy meds, eye drops, safe snacks, and still carry face masks.,
Depends on where I am traveling...if I am wearing sandals I bring old socks to throw away for TSA check in. I try to wear sneakers if I have to take my shoes off. The socks are dead to me once they touch that airport floor though LOL TSA precheck is nice when available
Can I just say I have just come back from holiday and on the plane they tell you not to use wet wipes in the tray or anything because they are already sprayed with something to prevent covid
My daughter used to be a flight attendant. She said the seating areas are only clean once a day, before the very first morning flight. So, yes, use your wipes.
Water bottles are certainly allowed on planes. You just carry one WITHOUT WATER IN IT through security. Carry the empty bottle through security and then fill it before you get on the plane.
It depends on where you live. I buy bottles after security in the US and always bring them. I also get them from the lounge. Never had any issues bringing them on the plane.

An Emory board, dental floss, a safety pin or 2, toothbrush & small tube of toothpaste, reading glasses, hand cream, mints such as tic tacs.
For short trips I use contact lense cases for things like toothpaste, eye cream, foundation- anything I don’t need a lot of. They hold a surprising amount of product.
Great advice. Thank you. I never thought of lens cases.
Really like the tissue “box”.

Primark has those jars

I clean my seat and the IFE even when flying cattle class.
Gum - for ear pops and for fresh breath on landing after a long flight.

I always travel wearing compression socks. Especially helpful for long haul flights. I also always bring Advil. I always get a headache while flying.

I used one to go to Japan!
I've got both of those and have been using them for years. One thing a friend showed me recently is putting jewellery in a largish eyeglasses case.
wipes and spare under garments
Don’t forget to bring something in case of upset stomach! Having tummy issues on a plane ✈️ is a nightmare 😮
Oh gosh, yes, probably the worst place ever to get those kinds of problems 👎🏻
Yes, a terrible situation. Just a suggestion, ask the flight attendant if there are any remedies on board. My airline stocked over the counter remedies. Retired flight attendant.
I am a frequent traveler both internationally and domestically. For the most part, I try to only carry on. For long haul flights, those neck pillows are worthless. I absolutely love that you used Naomi Campbell's travel cleaning video! She became a standard for traveling hygiene!
Lip balm is a must and hand cream.
Yep, it seems hand cream is a very popular essential
Love a travel pillow! Essential toiletries, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, moisturiser, wipes or facecloth.
Also if travelling long distance I like to have a change of clothing in case of luggage loss.
Great idea for the change of clothes,I’ll remember that one
Had 3 very Long flights over the last 12 months..
Elizabeth Arden fragrance free - 8 hour cream and
Lipbalm, a saltwater spray for the nose in the very dry sometimes warm Cabin, a flexible head pillow, wich has good support , as the soft cheap “wobbely” ones are not a good support. A firm one wich alsupport your chin , is a must for me..
And a very little bottle with ricinus Oil , wich helps you to prevent dry skin
Or a drop through your hair before landing, wich make your hair shine a lot
Travelling from a very cold destination, i wear thin wool t shirt and Long Johns , and take it of in the bathroom when we are halfway.
Thanks Peggy ✈️
Right on time video I am flying soon

Mine are lip balm, hand cream and hand sanitiser. 👍🏻

I've recently packed a few of fold out fabric trays for my watch and jewellery and for makeup and hair items. It's easier to find what I want than rummaging through bags or searching round the room.
Lip balm, migraine stick, mini perfume & hand cream and a nasal spray (both eleviate dryness)
I always bring a good hand cream like Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.

Xoxo 😘
Cough/dry mouth lozenges are on my list. Small TSA approved spray bottle of face moisturizer spray.
What’s the link for the blue travel wallet? The listed one is not opening.
Excellent listing of essential items...I have needed just about all of these when I fly. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. Do you have suggestions for packing for a trip video? I know you like the cubes, but the best way to roll your clothes either for the luggage or the cubes?
Great ideas. Thank you!
A travel wallet can also be a great way to lose absolutely all of your essential documents at one time. I know from personal experience!
I agree with you. I keep my money and credit cards separate, as well as my passport. If I lose one, I don’t lose all.
Oh no I bet that was terrible, good point though
That would be my fear too re travel wallet so i never have them
I totally agree. I separate cc, money and passports. My friend lost hers and in one swipe- everything was gone
my essential is a tooth brush!
Can u do a good size cross body bag for traveling?
Yes to all of the above plus:
I bring my own teabags wherever I go (in a clear plastic pencil case)
I bring a bikini, flip flops, sundress, bra and knickers - all black - rolled up in a plastic ziploc baggie.
God forbid my checked luggage goes astray I can survive.
Tea bags, yes me too!!!!
I would be grateful if you can please recommend a store /link where I can purchase a beautiful and classy navy blazer, thank you
Since the UV exposure is so high on planes, I always add a small bottle of sunscreen.
Where do I purchase the white shirt u r wearing? Love the neckline which is flattering
Hi Gemma
I like your Blazer ❤ where is it from?
After an unexpected squashing incident in my suitcase I will never again 1) pack a full-sized tube of toothpaste at all and 2) even the small sized one will never go in my suitcase. If you live in the States, LUSH makes a great toothpaste tablet that's really easy to travel with! I bought some on a trip, and they didn't break or crumble at all on the way home!
Always pack partially used toothpaste in a ziplock bag.
I use baking soda to clean my teeth (sprinkle toothbrush with water). Very effective and cheap.
My must have travel list are toothpaste and toothbrush, cashmere wrap or cardigan or both and a pair of cozy sucks because I get so cold in planes. Nice video 👍🏽

Excellent advice Gemma ❤ It is extremely important to stay hydrated while flying!
Eye drops for long flights❤
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
As far as taking toiletries on board, the things I take are a tiny bottle of contact cleaner, tiny 1/2 oz jar of Vaseline for hands, and my lip gloss. The rest goes under the plane. I think a sophisticated traveler just takes a tiny bag on board and the rest is checked.
I try to bring one outfit or extra shirt in the carry on. You never now what may happen to your checked bag. It's risky but I have traveled with tiny bags on board too.
Marvellous packing list.
I always have a small snack in my hand carry.
Great video!
Can I ask where your pink blazer is from please? Apologies if it’s already listed & Ive missed it
Hi Liz it’s from Marks and spencer but it’s a few years old now
Just in time video, thank you.
I always take a facial moisture spray for my face. I get so dried out on planes .
Yeah it’s a problem for me too, I’ve never tried a facial mist though, is there any particular one you use?
I like the Mario Bandescu facial most. Sorry for the spelling
I always travel with just a carry-on so everything that goes in there is essential
Gemma, nooooooo! My cashmere wrap will never touch the seat back of an airplane! I buy a cheap blanket at IKEA and drape it over the entire seat, then leave it on the plane.
Eek yes, you’re absolutely right
Oh yes good idea. 😊🌸
If you’re traveling through multiple flights you’ll need a lot of them!
for earbuds that stay on I recommend "JLab go air sport"
Pressed powder with a mirror and be careful not to break it and tinted lip balm
I ordered the vitamins 😊
Fab, I hope you like them 👍🏻
Excellent list! I like having toothpaste/ toothbrush 😀
No need for a mirror. Cell phone reverse camera will suffice.
Good idea, I’ve never thought of that
Me: crossbody bag, socks lol, sanitizer, coffee cup which i fill with water, coffee/tea sachets, plastic cutlery just in case, sandwich or smth to eat, ipad, healthy snack, umbrella lol, dental floss, toothbrush, toothpaste, book or e reader, brush, small supermarket fabric bag, little fan in the summer, squeeze bottles for toileteries, individual wipes, face cloth, ziplock bags, notepad, nail file, undies..
Definitely…recently went on 2 week trip and luggage never showed so these comfort items became life savers… tummy meds, eye drops, safe snacks, and still carry face masks.,
I take it the vitamins, etc were the sponsored ad.
Yes Vicki, they were a sponsored item, disclosed in the description box 👍🏻
Depends on where I am traveling...if I am wearing sandals I bring old socks to throw away for TSA check in. I try to wear sneakers if I have to take my shoes off. The socks are dead to me once they touch that airport floor though LOL TSA precheck is nice when available
Brilliant, as usual!
Thanks Julie
I've done that too packing a mirror with blusher 😂 never again
Eye drops as my eyes get dry and red on flights.
My Levi button fly straight white jeans fit most rule. I do 98% cotton 2% stretch. Not a fan of stretch pants.
Wait...is that Chloé Narcisse perfume on the shelf??
😊it is
Cashmere wrap site?
maisoncashmere.co.uk/
And a bible ❤ I don't like flying! 😂
toothbrush/toothpaste and a good book 🙂
Can I just say I have just come back from holiday and on the plane they tell you not to use wet wipes in the tray or anything because they are already sprayed with something to prevent covid
My daughter used to be a flight attendant. She said the seating areas are only clean once a day, before the very first morning flight. So, yes, use your wipes.
Symbiotic gut health caps
I would never take my shoes off on an airplane. Feet swell up and you can't put the shoes back on.
A bottle of mineral water is between 3-5 €/$/£ in any airport on planet 😆, if «water» is expensive in airports, do everyone a favor and stay home!
You lost me at "jewellery box." A small pouch with a zip or the inside zip pocket of your handbag should suffice on a flight
I love this channel but honestly some of this is a tad excessive
Eye drops. My eyes get very dry while on an airplane.
Toothpaste, deodorant and underwear change. Personal hygiene is often not mentioned on these videos about how to be a classy lady 🤷
Water bottles are not allowed on planes. You must throw them away before you get on the plane.
Gemma said an empty one. To fill up at your destination.
Good luck trying to put socks on with those cramped seats. Oh or is it only for first class she ladies
Buy some socks with a hard sole
Very helpful, thank you!
