I have an original M1 in my collection. Was not a fan of the gold highlight on the side of that version but I took wet and dry to that and took back the gold accent to bare metal and looks much better, more industrial then. Sort of a shame they removed that part. The original M1 was a pig to get sounding good though. Ended up with lubed WS POM+ with super thick PBT caps to get a sound that was not thin sounding. Nice to see they keep improving. I might wait until they refresh the M2 and grab one :)
The 75% layout is perfect, but the 'topographic' keycaps are very niche. It would be nice to see more colors for the chassis other than black or white.
I'd recommend this and rainy75 because they both support via. The only reason to get the m1 v5 is for the ball-catch rapid disassembly which is good for modding. Sound wise stock, it's nice. Rainy75 sounds the best but it doesn't have a knob and has a cleaner/smaller blocker layout as opposed to the bigger exploded layout of the m1 v5.
Ordered the black version. Thanks for the review :)
You're welcome, it's a great keyboard.

The gold accents were a design choice, I’m glad you liked the bare metal look! The original M1 definitely needed some tweaking!

looking at getting a 75% board and was wondering how this would compare to the leobog hi8, rainy75, or bridge 75?
I'd pick this Monsgeek over those every day.

@@silewez lots of issues with the Rainy75 and no after sales support, I can no longer recommend anything from WOBKey.
@@MechKeyboards I agree
Is it taller than the m1 v3 version?
The M1V3 and M1V5 both have a 22mm chin (th-cam.com/video/LYUTKmTA0T0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WgZ5RRXzfpMQNmXQ&t=1130).
How safe is the battery in these chinese keyboards? How likely will it catch fire?
Like with anything else, there are good batteries and bad batteries. I would avoid Keychron and NuPhy for sure though.
Would this compare to the qk80 mk2 or the neo, rd75 and bridge75? Im still trying to decide what route i should go
I'm working on a tier list video which will include the in stock keyboards I have reviewed.
@@MechKeyboardsAwesome! Any idea when you're coming out with it ? Want some help before I have to order 5 boards !! Lol 😂
@@madmattphoto I'm 75% complete, I've had a health issue slow me down a bit but I am aiming to complete it ASAP!
