Bro, iko sawa tu. 1st step is having the desire (as you already do). 2nd step, is start moving around the area/s that you'd like to build in eventually, I recommend choosing 4 or more geographical areas, e.g if you are targeting Nairobi satellite towns, then you can visit Kiambu, Ruiru, Kitengela, Ngong, Syokimau, Njiru, Chokaa, Rongai, Thika etc or any other areas near Nairobi or your targeted towns or cities, to get a feel for the place. Then you choose which area you want and then you proceed etc...
As someone who has both build and bought houses,,, I can tell you,,, buying is more cost effective for most of the time but building lets you customize every single knick knacks about your home,,, you just have to decide which one is best for you mentally and financially juu fundis will stress the hell out of you,,,
I am impressed. As a young developer, I'd really appreciate some more details on this type of cost cutting, especially during slab work. Is there a way I can pick your brain further on this? Thank you.
@@meowmeow1733 nycee... I will be doing more of construction videos from now on especially personal experiences and journey.. I love construction now sana
I always insist, washed quarry sand at times is even better than sand. I repeat WASHED quarry sand. Dont try using just "quarry sand" coz it is very unsafe.
@@mianomuthii Agreed....Washing quarry dust generally mimics the action of water in the case of river sand. It removes silt and clay which are undesirable components in fine aggregates (quarry dust). For a more serious project, it's important to take the sand test and get to know its components and grading, and find whether they fit within the required specifications.
As I said in the video this type of construction is much better on a residential unit not a commercial one because of the amount of load the slab can bear... Also the slab cannot sustain a 2000 water tank without pillars...
This is good and sound for simple residential houses. However as correctly noted by @Miano, this slab cannot support water tanks. If you desire to have water tanks incorporated in such a building. You can introduce columns and solid slabs on a section of the building....this part could be the staircase well. You do four or more columns around the staircase well and do the slab on these columns once they reach the roof level. The other drawback and the reason why these waffles cannot be used for highrise buildings is coz they can't take/transfer lateral loads caused by wind or earth tremors!
