Tesla opens first European Gigafactory: A resurgence of foreign investments into Germany?

  • After two years of construction, Tesla's first European factory delivers its first cars today. The Berlin-Brandenburg Gigafactory could soon be building half a million cars per year. Tesla is also building a battery factory nearby. Berlin is Tesla's fourth car factory. Its first plant in California went into operation in 2010. That was followed by a battery factory in the Nevada desert. Then came its Shanghai plant in 2019. Now the new Berlin-Brandenburg factory, which Tesla had initially hoped to open last year. Up next: a new gigafactory near Austin, Texas, to be completed soon. As for Germany, the largest economy within the European Union has recently been attracting more foreign investors again. Tesla is just one example.

You basically have no real idea what you are talking about.
Tesla is a generation of engineering beyond any other EV manufacturer, and that is a fact.
Tesla does not need to advertise to sell every car they make at a profit beyond all other major OEMs. Their customers sell them for them. Tesla customers frequently say that their Tesla is their absolute favorite possession, and that they are continually thrilled by the fact that it is often improved OTA on a weekly basis.

All that electric cars do is cut the dependency on oil. Who feels Tesla is stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from them for not paying the ad vig like all the other OEMs have to.
Tesla does not advertise. Therefor when one Tesla catches fire when some drunk drives it into a tree at 90mph it is in the news for weeks, on an hourly basis, while the the 350 deaths every year from the 185,000 gas cars that catch fire in the USA, gets no mention anywhere ever.

@Linux user FUD. Only about 3% of the mass of a large pack is lithium, less if one counts the enclosure. Lithium mining is not particularly destructive. And compared to drilling for oil, the difference is staggering… about 1,200 kg in a big battery pack which is still present at end of life. That’s only about 25-35 kg of lithium. The 15,000 to 30,000 kg of gas or diesel over the lifetime of a vehicle has to be pulled from the ground and is burnt, causing much higher environmental impact. The built in GHG emissions of a BEV is higher at first, but typically break even is reached around 10,000 km. The new DBE 4680 cells will have much lower embodied GHG due to skipping the cathode oven baking step.

So in your mind it makes sense that a company that literally never advertises is selling cars at over a 1.2 million a year rate with a six month wait for new orders while making lousy cars? What is driving sales of all those expensive Tesla cars if they are lousy and Tesla never advertises?
Hilarious that you are bitter about Tesla winning in the marketplace while also grousing about socialism.

@@tribalypredisposed Good post. I would guestimate Teslas 22 sales as 1.9 million cars this year.

You are gonna have a long wait. Perhaps in the mean time you should short Tesla stock, so you can put your money where your mouth is: and lose it.

Telsa cars are horrible. Don't buy them.
    They have terrible reliability.
They are the number one car company in customer complaints and dissatisfaction.
Their spare parts are tremendously expensive and take forever to get to you.
There are people literally on the waiting list waiting up to 6 months to get spare parts.
Their maintenance appointment are extremely hard to book.
    Their range is abysmal.
Do not buy a car from this company even if your life depends on it.
    You have been warned.
You will regret it. I guarantee you.

Things are so bad at Tesla that even with production increasing almost 100%, their order backlog is still 6 months to 1 year out depending on the model. Customer satisfaction scores are the best, so clearly things are terrible at Tesla.
