@@thelegittaco974 I'm sorry I couldn't find any. I assumed since it said at the end that he died in combat but held the defense that it was a true story though I know for a fact that in the base game the ones like the campaign where you control able company which had a really high casualty rate and the falaise pocket (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falaise_pocket ) are true ones because the game gives some more context at the end of their respective campaigns I'm extremely sorry if it turned out it wasn't based on a true story
@@somerandomguy___Hey mate, it is based on a true story, although it isn’t entirely accurately depicted in Company of Heroes. Private First Class Charles N. DeGlopper heroically sacrificed his own life at the battle for La Fiere Bridge, the same one we fought for in the Causeway campaign. The last mission of Causeway took place on June 9, 1944, the same day DeGlopper died, it must be based on him. For this action, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the only member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Normandy Campaign. It is especially telling that in the last cutscene of the mission, they put an emphasis on sacrifice to save others, which is exactly what DeGlopper did. This is why I really loved these scenarios and it makes us appreciate how brave these men were in this terrible war. Anyways mate, just thought you should know, yes, this really did happen, and someone incredibly brave gave his life to save his men, just like in this campaign. Thanks and have a great day!
When I played this when it was first released (I'm just a high school student back then) I never paid attention to the details of this game. Years later I played it again and realized that Able and Baker squads have different roles. Able Squad as the assault team hence the use of SMGs while Baker Squad as the fire support team because they use BAR and Recoilless Rifles. I find it odd that Craft becomes a marksman here while assuming command of both squads.
The best part about this entire campaign is that it’s based on a true story which makes it *volumes* more impactful and though provoking
Really? Can you pls tell me the source? I’m interested in reading it, if it is in print that is
