  • People ask me all the time: “Why did you choose Vicenza, out of all the places in Italy?” Welcome to my adopted “hometown” where I’ve been living for the last 17 years.
    Well, today I am going to show you some of the most beautiful places here in this city, and I’m sure it’ll be easy to see why I chose to make this my home. It’s impossible to show you all the beautiful places in one video, so today we’re going to focus on the following:
    1:25 Historic Center of Vicenza
    3:37 The Basilica Palladiana & Piazza Signori
    5:15 Teatro Olimpico
    6:30 Vicenza Social Life & Night Life
    Thank you for watching!

    My God....
    What an amazing old section.
    And people in the States want to live in a beige house on a culdasac and have to drive everywhere.
    To ride a bike there and to get lost wandering around would be such a treat.
    If I don't get here then shame on me.

    As an Italian from Vicenza having lived in major American cities in the US such as NY and Seattle, which I loved, and having the possibility to move back there anytime I want, I always looks for reasons to leave this small, provincial yet a jewel of a town but never seams to be able to do that. Cheryl was able to capture the essence of my feelings and thoughts.
    Grazie Vicentina ad honorem!!!

Would you be able to tell me if people in Vicenza are receptive to non-fluent foreigners? Do they have the patience to speak slower or not laugh if I stutter? My husband and I are English teachers, young late 60s. You mentioned you used to have a school. We need to supplement our pensions. Would it be possible to find work easily teaching English in the area? You mentioned to me to consider the north as there is more work in general. We are EU nationals, he is French born, Inam American with French nationality.

    • @cherylobalcrossculturalexpert
      @cherylobalcrossculturalexpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Susan! There is SO much work in teaching English here! Especially in this area of Italy. You will find plenty of language schools and you could also pick up a lot of private students. The fact is there are simply not enough native English speakers to fill the roles, so they are always depserate for teachers. You don't even need any specific training, although it helps if you get a teaching certificate like TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA. Actually CELTA is the best, most esteemed and most widely-recognized. Having a CELTA is like a ticket to getting a job anywhere. Even better if you can teach Business English, and companies pay much more per hour for English teachers. Maybe you can draw on your life experience up until now, and integrate this into the lessons. Wishing you the best of luck and let me know if you need any more information!
