    This Olympics was more about fulfilling a certain narrative instead of running a system that benefitted EVERYONE and the entire team. Tatum wasn't the only player who struggled this Olympics primarily because we insisted on playing that high screen & roll and 4/5 out offense. We had Embiid & AD on the floor and often refused to take advantage of them inside. Pretty much the only time we did so was against Serbia.

    • @BobbyMarley718

      Team USA is not supposed to run a system that benefits the entire team. Its to win the GOLD. Only person who had a bad olympics was Tatum and haliburton. EVERYONE else played great. Team USA doesnt change systems to FIT EVERYONE on the team thats why they do tryouts and dont just pick ppl.

Bron was always gonna run point, all those other stars can play off the ball, ant man and Tatum prob need the ball most to be really effect but ant also showed really good defense. When they put Tatum in there he seemed to struggle on offense. He kept missing! I kept thinking they should forget trying to force him in with the hopes he would get in his flow, even if it hurt his feelings and pissed off Celtic fans, because we had no easy games and were always in danger of LOSING. I honestly think Kerr was just trying to WIN. How would it have gone for him if we lost? He didn't worry about effing politics! Kerr always had better options. Just because Tatum thrived in one situation - the Celtics system - doesn't mean he will thrive in any situation. He wasn't even the Celts best player at crunch time. I love the guy but he ain't all that and he is also streaky. So the situation is the reverse of the conspiracy theory against him - forcing him in there would have been "politics".

      You Think Brown not being on the Squad made Tatum comfortable?

    This is my personal opinion. With that out of the way, from my point of view, only the coaching staff and the players know the truth. Now, these are my thoughts: in most of the games, the US was not dominant. They had very little room for errors but wanted to avoid creating a negative narrative by having basically most of the top American players on one team and losing a game. Also, to be honest, Tatum didn't seem to play with force or a killer instinct. Another point is the rhythm: no one was getting into a rhythm fast enough, and the games are short. Considering that, they had to stick with who was already doing the little things or playing the role of a role player. They also needed to make sure they matched the other team's positions with the proper players. It would have been worse if the US had not won the gold.

    I understand the hate on the Jaylen Brown vs Derrick White decision, but at the end of the day, this team won gold, and honestly I could care less what they did to get there. I don't think Tatum being benched for most of the Olympics was disrespect. The team played great without him towards the end of the tournament anyway. The Jaylen Brown thing is a lot more egregious than the Tatum thing, I will say that. I don't think anyone is being specifically salty towards the Celtics though. Jrue and Derrick got plenty of playing time, and they earned it by contributing and playing the roles they needed to.

    I dont get why people cant understand Tatum's benching. Coaching the Olympics is not like coaching an NBA game. How difficult must it be to play more than 10 guys in a 40 minute game? Tatum is a forward, can't play guard or the 5, are you going to lessen Bron's minutes? Especially as he runs the point forward role? Give him KD's minutes? in their final Olympics? He's an okay defender at best that cant guard a 1 or 2 or 5. He doesnt do the dirty work like his teammate Derrick White does, you dont have to call plays for White, you do for Tatum,,, and if you want to go small, Booker is your 3... thats 4 forward players. He hass less FIBA experience than Bron and KD and he will have several more chances at a role in the Olympics. Folks should chill.

    Here is the reality. JT is not a good basketball player for this type of game (olympic basketball). He is not a playmaker. He is a ball stopper. He isnt replacing KD. DBook adjusted his role and is able to playmake when needed. When bigs can camp in the paint you have to be able to playmake for your teammates and JT has never shown the ability to do that. Also he had been playing abysmal basketball in the exhibitions and olympic games up to that point. Well below average shooting. Sure he could have gotten some more playing time here and there but he was never going to be a pivotal part of the team. Same with JB. Both of those guys are arguably overrated by many people and do not fit in this team like other players do. Who is he playing over? Not KD. Not Steph. Not LeBron. Not even Jrue. The only player he could have played over is DBook but Book showed he could adjust to fill the more supportive role in those lineups with the other big name and JT has never shown his ability to do that. He plays selfish basketball when you need to play pure high IQ basketball to win internationally. There is not other perspective. No one "deserves" to play just bc they won a championship in the NBA. This is international rules. Its different and you need to be a more complete player to compete. JT and JB are not that.

That will likely win multiple rings before he even hits 30 and it will start erasing talks about these old guys in the league which the NBA are still trying to milk! He's bin to the Eastern conference finals 5 times in his 7 year career! Never missed the playoffs and has already bin to the finals twice! That stat line alone being regarded as the team's best player should make him the man. This is more ridiculous than Steph not winning finals MVP over Iggy. The justification was because Iggy changed the direction of the finals with his defense though he wasn't a factor earlier. Ironically Steph in these Olympics not only changed the direction of their biggest games but literally finished the opponents off! Closing multiple games out, with all his teammates praising him hands on face mimicking his little go to sleep taunt. Still no MVP for Steph🤔. Lame take on coaches decisions not to play Tatum. Somebody please check Tatum's stats during the exhibition games. Those games were used to determine the best rotations for the tournament that would give us the best chance to win the gold. Tatum's production, or lack thereof, in the exhibition games mirrored Curry non-production in the first 4 games of the tournament, so the coaches decided to limit Tatum's minutes. The big 3 from the exhibition season stepped forward; Lebron, Curry, and Booker. Durant was always in the mix, so that left Tatum out of the mix. it is what it is, and it resulted in a gold medal. On a team like that, somebody is going to have to sit. DNP Coaches decision is part of the program.

If Kobe was embarrassed like this by not receiving playoff time for an Olympic team he was on, he would be in the gym as soon as he touched down back in America, motivated to unleash fury on the league and especially Steve Kerr and the Warriors next time he faced off against them. I’m seeing a lot of misguided opinions about JT in the comments. Let’s be clear: JT is a versatile, two-way player. With KD, Steph, and LeBron on the team, he doesn’t need to be the primary scorer. The USA was getting torched by Serbia from the perimeter, and Kerr didn’t use JT, who can guard all five positions and has high basketball IQ. A smart coach would’ve turned to him to stop the bleeding, especially since Bam and AD were getting bullied on the perimeter when we all know they’re most effective as interior defenders.
    Things only started to improve in the fourth quarter when the players took control, with Melo even calling plays on the sidelines. This suggests a lack of faith in Kerr’s strategy. The focus on Tatum’s scoring misses the broader issue. Despite his shooting struggles, averaging just 6 points, he was still contributing in other ways.
    Steph, Embiid, and Edwards all had their struggles but you don't see them get microanalysed like JT. It’s frustrating to see Kerr’s poor decisions, like playing Anthony Lamb over Moses Moody at GSW and delaying the Steph, LeBron, KD lineup until the end of the tournament consistently get glossed over. Kerr’s one-dimensional approach and obsession with a three-guard lineup make it clear he’s not the right coach for future tournaments. Warriors fans seem to understand this frustration better than anyone.

      It's not just about Tatum all those guys got fucked because they should have played the same amount of minutes as Lebron and Steph. If it wasn't for them getting down every game those guys might could have played better. And I still think if they would have bought the young guys off the bench they could have came back on anybody.

    • @AndYouAre
      @AndYouAre 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RodneyHopkins-ij4dy
      Perhaps that was true in the early games where they were blowing teams out. But the young guys struggled in all 3 meddle rounds, especially the last 2 games. What's notable is that Kerr couldn't afford to leave Steph, LeBron, and Book on the bench, with them being the only guys with a positive plus minus against Serbia and France. Even KD was a minus -1, AD -3, and Ant and White were a -11 and -13. The young guys weren't getting it done.

    Lebron accumulated stats because he got to have the ball more against lesser competition. If it wasn’t Lebron, it would’ve been someone else having the ball and getting the stats in those blowout wins. It would've been the other guys averaging more stats, like they usually do. For example, obviously KD is not just a 14 PPG player, and Anthony Davis is not just a 8 PPG player, and Tatum is not just a 4 PPG player. Those guys didn't get to get their stats because it was Lebron dominating the ball more against the lesser competition in blowouts. Once it was the more higher levels of competition though, it was Steph who was trusted to do the work. Lebron barely even touched the ball once France cut the lead in the 4th quarter.
    WHEN you get your stats matters, but for Lebron fans, they've been easily scammed into believing it's just about looking at the Final box score and not looking at what actually happened.
