My #1 FAVORITE COMEDIAN OF ALL TIME I wasn’t allowed to watch him when I was young I would learn his jokes to fast and repeat them to everyone that would listen to me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 damn I got a lot of ass whoppings back in them days 🥹🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was only 11 sneakily listening to my grandparents listening to comics llike Redd and Pryor. I would crawl behind the couch and try not to die laughing 😂 even though its not my era im glad i grew up watching them
I remember seeing this when it came out. I was 14 I had never laughed so hard before. A few months later HBO had a George Carlin special that was just as funny. Those were the days for comedy and music.
I find him extremely funny. There’s a few that are out today. Back in the 70s we had Red Carlin and a young Richard Pryor. We were spoiled. Oh don’t forget Don Rickles.
I first heard Redd Foxx when I was 11. A friend of mine had a Dad who loved music and comedy... He, Ray Shaffer, was my love for the true classics was born. Wonderful share. Thanks for sparking some wonderful memories.
I grew up in the 70's-80's...My GMA thought Redd was hilarious. She would laugh out loud and watch Sanford and Son every week.😂She was the one that taught me humans are human,we all have beauty and we all have ugly..Let's not let the ugly mess us up anymore 💯
Great story. My grandma loved him as well. My grandparents came over to eat dinner and watch this show on HBO when I was 14. My grandma was laughing so hard she couldn’t talk.😂😂
Apparently you knew zero about him. It's Redd Foxx he was my neighbor and friend on Easten and Russell in Vegas. A very nice man and you can't even spell a legend's name partially right.
He literally scolded them about getting offended over the word "fart". He told them there's a sign at the door saying it's a triple x rated show and Jesus knows where they are so just enjoy it.
How stupid are you that you think people were not offended by humor back then. If a black person danced with a white girl on tv in the 50s or 60s it wouldn't have been viewed as funny. There'd be uproar. Its funny now people be upset about that but it wasn't funny back then to most of America. I chuckle when folks like you actually think people didn't get offended back in their day. You must be the type that complains about the "current generation" for the past few decades.
Tons of great comedians still around. The only reason you even know people were offended is because of social media. Just remember people like Redd, Pryor, Carlin and many other artists in different arts have been protested out of towns and shows cancelled. Even hip-hop and rock/metal stars had to talk to Congress about the need for free speech as government was trying to silence them.
the difference is WE still dont g1f about sensitive "opinions" ... he said he "made his show "showy" ... his manager said "be yourself" ... so he was ...
The wife and I had a male and a female English Mastiff. The male weighed 240lbs and the female was 210lbs. We fed them raw their entire lives. Where we live, we have friends that have ranches and farms and hunt. We got all of their food from friends but, supplemented with whole chickens, roasts, etc., from the store. He is NOT kidding that when a massive giant breed dog takes a $hit, it is a huge pile of said $hit. If we left for a weekend or so, they would have left piles as big as a one gallon bucket. So, we really were homebound taking care of them. But, it was a great joy in life to experience a pet/companion/friend with a giant soul. They passed about 10 years ago and it still is tearing me apart.

So many people in the comments talk about how he could say whatever he wanted. That he didn't get blowback. They did, just in forms of letters to studio. It wasn't published for the world to see.
"Look at these thin lips. I hate em. I can hardly taste barbecue" 🤣
I don't understand the joke.
Does Redd mean he can't taste a woman's privates?
