This is an original idea of mine.
My budgies LOVE herbs, more than any other vegetable, and I thought to myself that I'm buying lots of herbs for them everyday that go bad quickly, and my budgies don't have long enough to enjoy them.
So I came up with this idea, why not grow an actual herb garden inside their cage?
That way they will have a fresh stack of herbs whenever they want to, and it will just keep growing.

My only concern is that the jar is just the right size for the birds to go in head first and not be able to right themselves. I lost a budgie that way so now I either put in lots of marbles to keep water level from being dangerous or I use wide shallow dishes for baths etc.
Such an amazing idea, I was worried that your going to grow it in soil but then you came up with water, you really thought about everything great content, I enjoyed watching💙

Using clay pebbles in the jar with the water is a good idea so they cannot fall in the jar.

Really love your country's nurseries system,in India their is a bad system,only and only soil I mean not any shelves no counters.
@sangita choudhary also plants are not managed,and mostly these herbs are not available here.

I also try,but my birds are interested in soil more than plant.😝😅and also now they have chicks so worried so they don't feed soil to chicks.

What they do droppings on the plant and it the water like i know were going to replace the water but wutta bout the plant othere then that smart idea
Also for more variety of sticks go outside and get some branches then strip the bark and disefect then put in budgie cage

Great idea thanks. How often do you have to change the water, doesn't it grow bacteria? How long will the plants survive a) the water diet b) the budgies attack? 😉

Hey! the hook thing is a base for hanging those bird stainless steel bowls.
If you can't find one you can make this hanger out of a good rope - pin.it/7jsXPV2
Of course it will not be stable as the hook but it's an option:)
What a beautiful garden! Also that kitty was a cutie. :3. What do you guys suggest as a vegetable treat? My budgies just eat spinach and lettuce. Not anything else! I tried other things that are good for birds and they don’t really like it.
Try, offer a cucumber or other vegetable, make sure they are wet, budgies like to nibble on water drops as they eat their veggies

How do u get ur budgies to eat veggies? I got my baby budgie about 3 weeks ago and he only likes to eat millets and his seeds but I sometimes hide veggies in his seeds so he can eat it

Cage size? Take a Madeira Double that's what I have for mine.
A month or so later... are the plants still growing or do they need replaced frequently?
If I didn't have two little sauropods to destroy it, it would have still been alright!
Definitely needs to be replaced frequently.
