Yo I love this damn game, it's especially entertaining watching you discover things going in blind. More, please! This game even has all kinds of crazy challenges built in, it's right up your alley.
Thank you a lot for the Super Chat, very much appreciated! Yea I looked a bit over the settings and there seems to be a ton of things that can be done, so I intent to cover it for a couple of videos at minimum and then see how well people receive it :) But personally speaking I enjoy it a lot
The squares are iron, the triangles are cobalt and the circles are water. Iron is the most important resource because you need it for every upgrade, and because of that it's also the most common. Cobalt is mainly used to repair your dome. Water is used for gadget upgrades, like upgrading your dome's shield or the lift. The Laser Sight upgrade adds a harmless laser to show you where you're aiming, but it's pretty much useless if you're aiming with your mouse instead of the keyboard. You'll want to prioritize the laser's first speed upgrade over the first damage upgrade early on because the enemies are weak, but even just 3 enemies around your dome could be slightly troublesome with the laser's base speed. The deeper you go, the harder the ground becomes to mine, but the larger the iron deposits are. So you could either rush to the bottom but keep your laser weak for a while, or you could stick to the upper regions and upgrade your weapon first. The main goal of the game's primary gamemode - Relic Hunt - is to find and retrieve the relic deep underground. Moving the relic into your dome will instantly start a massive wave of enemies. If you "die" during this wave, the relic will instantly annihilate all the enemies and you win the game. Alternatively, if you're strong enough, you can fight off all of the enemies in the final wave and win that way.
I'd love to see more Dome Keeper! This game is excellent. It has a Prestige mode where you can compete for high scores. And the public beta update has different challenge levels. It's an incredible game.
Never heard of this game until this video, I would like to see a few games, the gameplay loop seems a little stressful which is what makes the gameplay fun to watch
Hey Dex! A friendly reminder that when you buy the upgrade that lets you see what resources you got, it grants you auto-heal when the damage is lethal, so you dont waste the triangles on small heals! :) EDIT: it shows on the HP bar a blinking light indicating you are repairing poorly and wasting potential hp!
couple quick starting tips, that might help you get ahead in the game :D -Iron (squares) is the basic material for almost everything, "easy" to find (and much bigger veins the deeper you go) but your entire upgrade tree depends on it. -Water (circle) is for special upgrades, gadgets, etc. It's good to have some but it's not crucial. It is much rare than iron though, so if you want the cool upgrades it's always great to get water. -Cobalt (triangle) is basically medikits. You mostly use it for repairs. There's a few upgrades that also use it, usually it's because they reduce incoming damage or give you extra life, stuff like that, basically anything that increases your effective health is cobalt. All in all, Cobalt gives you extra time, the shorter on cobalt you are... the closer you get to game over. If you're out, find more, or finish the game quickly! -You can drop resources in the dome and quickly sit in the console, the game will process the resources even if it is paused while on the menu. This can help specially if you need to upgrade something before combat and the enemies are already appearing! -It is beneficial to get the HP upgrades FIRST before spending cobalt on repairs. The heal works on a percent of your max HP, so it gives more HP per cobalt, it's just way more efficient. Also just increasing the max HP gives you hp in the moment too, so spend iron before cobalt when possible :) - There's no time limit per se, but resources being limited and enemies getting stronger means you'll eventually get overwhelmed, always. Usually the objective is to find the relic, by finding the big 4x4 gate, activating all the buttons connected to it via cable, and then get it to the dome. After that you get a massive final wave, but at that point if you "lose" the relic saves you anyway, so it's a victory no matter what ! -There's other game modes, prestige being a mode where you try to last as long as possible accruing points to get into leaderboards, and the more recent, little mini quests with special circumstances (like inverted gravity, or maze-like caves, etc.) that reward you with little convenient permanent upgrades (not necessary by any means, but it's a big quality of life kinda stuff) Other than that, I encourage you to try different gadgets, domes, characters, etc. to see what's more fun and what balance of "economy vs defense" does work for you ♥ Good luck down there, may your dome never shatter!
Laser sight is the dots that point out in a straight line. Mouse aiming wasn't added at launch, so it was used to help controller/keyboard-only players with their aim.
Yeeeees. Nice one. Buyed it 2 weeks ago. Worth it. After wall World I really love this game and new patch out now too ❤. Seeing forward to your genius runs 🎉
Hey dex im so happy u picked up this game. little tips: the thing with 2 empty square box that u dont understand is for ur character passive upgrade. U need to put 2 gold in there. Cant wait until u master this game and do crazy things XD
A bit of a tip on mining If you've played Minecraft you'll be familiar with strip mining, here it's the same: do one long tunnel straight down and every two blocks of dirt make two tunnels left and right, use the initial iron (the squares you called gold) to increase movement speed and carrying capacity as early on the drill is good enough at base and the dome should handle the early waves just fine, then consider what you need most between drill streght or laser turning speed and yeah you kinda eyeball it from there
I look forward to Dex becoming a meta expert in this game. Ive been playing this for a few years, and it's always fun seeing someone learn and experience it for the first time. Just a tip, you can upgrade the gadgets. You can also upgrade dome durability.
Oh?! Dex is playing DOME KEEPER?! I'm so in for this. If you end up loving this game, I HIGHLY recommend "Wall World" which is a game in a VERY similar vein.
Dex its awesome you are picking up this game. I would suggest getting the HP+ upgrades to your dome as that makes it much tankier and the amount of health you heal is also increased.
Really fun game, excited to see you play and learn more! The Lift is generally considered *quite* good if you upgrade it a couple times (I don't know if you noticed you can upgrade gadgets in the upgrade menu after retrieving them).
@@Almyst this is the first time I’ve seen this game and it looks pretty awesome! Though very slow going it seems. Any recommendations on other TH-cam channels that play this? Thanks!
@@RyanYoxo I'm following Blitz and DangerouslyFunny who also plays this from time to time. They have a different playstyles than Dex in general, but are funny in their own ways
mr. dex thats the final relic they say you can get it if you are ready and defend the boss wave you can dig it out and activate it it won't do anything if you pull it on the dome it will start the wave as you see
"keep in mind that I have pretty much no knowledge on this game at all" next episode: Dex completely breaking the game... also can we get more of this?
This game might move a little to fast for you compared to the games you usually play, nut their is a good amount of variety with rhis latest to update, and there are plans to make ir two player in the works. For me, i dont mind the repetition. I played twistwd metal 2&3 back in the day on rhe hifhest difficulty with whatever self imposed handicap i could think of. The only reason i stopped playing was because for some reason it wouldnt let me unlock the last boss as a character. But reperition can be fun if you are creative. But as far as the video is comcerned, you might not want to edit out too much of the grinding since it does move a little quickly.
you need to watch some video on that :P there multiple things you got not right. Keep it, that is fun game so next one you will know why you won :D one video on other chanel and you will know all

It's iron, not gold.
Funny how games with dynamics as simple as 1980s/90s games have come back in a big way.

Haven't played myself, but been watching others play, and seeing that hodge podge of tunnels HURT.

Great game! Please more! :)
Looking forward to the next one
24 seconds ago is crazy, especially since I just clicked TH-cam home after a different dome keeper video
Heart of Darkness vibes, i love it
This was inevitable 👌
Laser sight is more for people playing on controller. It helps you aim, that's it. It can be helpful, but I'd never take it early on.
Yes! Play more of this!!
im crossing my fingers so hard right now, hoping for more series..
nice how people are still finding this game.

If you find the tree seed, try to plant it on cobalt (triangles).

Dex completely breaking the game...

can we get more of this?
mans desperately needed some goddamn damage and turret turning speed, if there is any. offense is best defense.
You listened, I am proud 😁
pretty fun
You need to invest some iron into the health upgrades to make the healing more efficient.
Finally, a game I'm better than Dex at (briefly, for now at least)!
I was waiting for you to play this game holy scheiße
when you accidentally find the win-con

This game reminds me of MotherLoad
Do more dome keeper pls
You can upgrade your gadgets.
Have you ever heard of a game called noita? I feel like you would have some fun playing it
i love how you accidentally speedrun the game hahaha next run will sure be much easier.
