To help anyone else doing the rear brake discs . It is much easier if you remove the caliper piston assembly from the hanger before trying to remove the hanger. The brake pipe and hand brake mechanism are no longer in the way.

Only just watched this ( as I have just bought a 2011 c3 picasso ) - great video Michelo. Just about to tackle the 4 brake discs & pads after completing a full service - air - oil - cabin - & fuel filters. Needed lots of servicing items ( & cleaning ) to get up to scratch. Took note of your comments about the deadly wheel locking nuts and was very careful to remove them - they won't be going back on ! One of them nearly beat me despite being ultra careful. I will be looking for a piston rewind kit too. Thank you Michelo for a very informative video. I have been working on my own cars all my life but I am never too old to accept good advice.

Hi Michelo, just wanted to say a big thanks to you ( and your son) for taking the trouble to make this video. It was extremely helpful in making the job straight forward today. What was particularly helpful was you listing torx sizes and the wind-in kit details so I could source them before hand. I'm glad I changed them as they were shockingly bad, (the front discs & pads) far worse than yours. You are right about the wind-in kit it's fantastic! I spent hours years ago trying to winding in the piston of a Citroen BX with a wide ended screw driver and a bar. It took me well over an hour back then. Just been out and bought discs and pads for the rear ones to do tomorrow. Thanks again. PS I hope you get your workshop!

Very helpful video. I have the pleasure of doing this at the weekend due to my rear pads failing the MOT. Citroen dealership wanted to charge me £348 for them to replace them. I bought the rear discs with bearings and pads on eBay for £85. Fingers crossed for good weather as I'm on the concrete drive too. Thanks Simon.

Hi. I really enjoyed your video. This is a job I need to do on my own C3. Changing brake pads is a job I have done quite a few times before so I have a good idea of what to expect, as I thought my days of crawling around cars on my driveway was over..! But watching you do it is a great help. You did make me laugh about the 11mm spanner lol 😝

Hello I just wanted to say thanks for showing this job. Armed with the info I was able to change my rear pads very easily. On your recommendation I bought one of those rewind tools which was a very useful item. I wanted to say there is no need to remove the brake line, if the outer part of the caliper has already been removed. I noticed it has been mentioned already though. I will do the job again when the weather is nicer. I will put new discs and pads on then. this time around it was just a set of pads to keep the vehicle mobile. Cheers then, and thanks. Mart.

Very good information in this video but I discovered that if you take the caliper off the carrier and unclip the hand brake cable the caliper swings to the front then you have access to the bolts without having to disconnect the pipe and bleed the brakes

Nice video, thanks Michelo! Going to try to replace brake disks with pads tomorrow on my C3. I have just one comment, I know that it's recommended also to clean new brake disks with brake cleaner. New brake disks normally have a protecting layer of paraffin (or similar substance) to prevent corrosion and this layer can contaminate the pads which is not desirable.

    • @michelod.i.y.5202
      @michelod.i.y.5202  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Good luck with your brake pads. Definitely recommend cleaning your disks with brake cleaner when installing. Bear in mind that there are two types of protective film on new disks. The oil or paraffin one or a special thin anti corrosive paint, which you shouldn't put any chemicals or cleaners on, the new pads quickly wear off the paint. I had the painted ones.

What a Cracking Video and INSTRUCTION.EXCELLENT..
I am just waiting for the weather to improve,Rain and Cold wind.
Unlike you my drive are pebbels,,Wished work area was concrete..
I know the best mechanic I have ever seen do all types of brakes, and cars..
MOT Time,he takes ALL THE BRAKES OFF,Cleans and greases just like you..
The ONLY Difference was back of Pads between Calhiper,he used a brushed on copper grease to stop them binding, otherwise,it was identical to how he does it..
That my Friend is a BIG COMPLEMENT From me...oh yes...
Now you do a PROPER JOB,EXCELLENT...
Anybody watching this, this guy knows what he is doing..
Now, as mentioned will be doing my Fronts,New Disks and Pads.Xsara picasso 2004.2.0hdi.
Now those DAMN T55 TORX at the rear of Calhiper,Would not budge..
Still have to Tackle those,QUESTION,Could your Impact Wrench not done that for you.???..
    I have BOUGHT a 1/2" impact 20v 3.0 a hr..
Now,,Do you think there would be a PROBLEM getting them to unlock.??..
I think I am going to use a HEAT GUN To soften the Threadlock,as in in you Video you can see they THREADLOCKED Thow WHOLE THREAD,,They are whit all down the threads.?.
2/3 Threads is more than enough..
Wish me LUCK Young man as I am middle 70's and Strength these days aludes me..lol..
I also bought the PITON SET KIT.For about £16.00 Why Not..why struggle..
As Said IMPRESSED, Follow this guy he is very good..
    Thank you..

Thank you for your very kind words, as you can probably guess I'm quite new to TH-cam. My presentation needs quite a bit more work and still using very cheap filming and editing equipment.
With your impact wrench you should be fine, most importantly insure the bit fits into the bolt nicely, and is a high quality bit and insure it does not slip, so put plenty pressure on it.
If you're working on your gravel drive I would recommend trying to get hold of some large planks of timber, it will be a lot more stable for a jack and axle stands etc. Best of luck with your brake job.

I suggest you connect a bleed kit hose on the nipple and undo and it will be easier to push (with a screw driver) the piston back into the caliper (Note: undo your brake fluid reservoir cap) once all replaced bleed off your brake(s).
