    I love this washcloth stitch. Also FYI, the "picot stitch" is pronounced pea-ko. It's French.

      Yes…you are correct! Pronounced “ pee-koh”.

      And in the time stamps it says "peacock" stitch. 🙃 Either way, it's very pretty!

      @@JewelsandJones In American English it is pronounced
      pi·kuht, in British English it is pronounced pee·kow (as in low)
      And in French it is pronounced pi•kow (pi as in pig and kow as in low). As an American, your pronunciation of pi·kuht was correct.

    I really like this stitch, in France we call it the Suzette stitch. I'm going to use a white cotton that can be washed at 90°C. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Have a nice day!

    Thank you for this lovely pattern! Your work is beautiful. This pattern could also be used to make a hand towel for a powder room (small bathroom).

    The pattern is very effective with edges as well, show many chains would be required to crochet a blanket? say about 1 meter wide x 1.50 meters in length?

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there, I personally haven't made a blanket with this stitch yet, so I'm not sure on the measurements. But I would recommend making a quick gauge swatch of the stitch and then this way you can easily figure out the measurements.

    Been crocheting for almost a year and a half and have learned both single and double, apparently I've been taught all wrong and just discovered this... any tips on vids that show these much slower? And maybe a little closer so I can see better? Looks beautiful! Also, I've been told I do it backwards, but I push thru the same way you do so now my brain is all confused... but she explained it's why my stitches always look different from hers

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh no! I'm glad you figured it out though. 😊 I don't know of any videos that make it slower, but you can make the video go a bit slower on any tutorial. There is button on the bottom of the videos that you can click to select the speed of the video. I think that might really help!

      HookedbyRobin on TH-cam has great videos on how to do single and double crochet. Her videos are how I learnt to crochet :)

    Lovee this washcloth!! Mine always has these big holes above the initial chain though, am I doing something wrong??

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! No, you're definitely not doing anything wrong. This just happens sometimes in crochet. I've seen people work the foundation chain differently to prevent this from happening. So you can flip the foundation chain and work in the back bumps or you can make a single crochet foundation chain. I've tried the first method before and it does help in removing those gaps when making your initial row.

  • @angylsurfr
    @angylsurfr 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for another easy to follow tutorial!! How do you keep the rows so even? I started and even after 2 rows it's more like a trapezoid shape - the 2nd and subsequent rows are wider than that first chain stitch row. :(

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! How is your tension when you crochet? If you crochet a bit tighter, your stitches might budge a little bit. I would maybe try going up a hook size and seeing if that will help loosen up those stitches. I'm naturally a very loose crocheter, so I think that helps when making my stitches. So I would try going up a hook size, I think your rows will come out a bit more even. 😊

    in the borders it is essential to explain and show what you do in the corners..

    This is so beautiful
    I made this but when I wet it and use the washcloth stretch and it is regtangular in stead of a square. Anyone some advice please?

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, so your washcloth will definitely stretch a bit when it's wet and you're using it. You could always block it to it's original shape and let it dry. It's just something that naturally happens when your washcloth is wet. 😊

    I like this stitch, thanks, but my edges aren't straight. Am I missing a stitch at the end?

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, are you adding a chain 1 at the end? Sometimes this can cause an uneven edge. Also, what is your tension like? I find that when I crochet tightly my edges always come out a bit uneven. If your tension is a bit tighter, I would try going up a hook size. That should help smoothen out those edges.

    • @AllGrowing
      @AllGrowing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JewelsandJones Hello! Yes, I think my tension is a bit tight, will go up a hook size. Thanks!

  • @direidx
    @direidx ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for the video. Your work is beautiful. However, the second border is a picot stitch, pronounced “ pee-koh”. It is not a peacock stitch. That is something entirely different.

      Thank you so much! Yeah, another reader told me as well. 😊 There's just so many different stitch names.
