How to extend the waist band of trousers - quick and easy tutorial!

Hi Mary I was looking for some advice, is it possible to add either elastic or a piece of material to allow me an extra 4 inches on the waistband. I've been to two shops and they both said it can't be done but having watched you I was wondering what you thought.

Hi and apologies for the delay in replying! Yes you can extend the waistband with panels, without seeing the trousers it’s hard to say for sure, but off the top of my head if it’s 4” extra then I would suggest a 2” either side in the waistband with a triangular panel blending out into the leg (over the hips).
