    The crab choke is just knuckle choke from guard

    I always love your vids Eli. Just a little correction to the 8th choke. I think you wanted to write Kata GURUMA loop choke, since Kata Gatame in judo = arm triangle in BJJ and kata guruma is a self sacrifice side throw where we grab opponent's leg and arm sleeve at the same time.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re absolutely right. I can’t believe I didn’t catch that. I’ve always called that the kata garuma loop choke but messed up in this video. Appreciate the catch.

    My favorites I think are darce, biw and arrow arm triangle loop choke and clock choke brabo is pretty nasty too

    My favorites where the "bow and arrow" and "Japanese necktie".

  • @MeroGrumble
    @MeroGrumble 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Interestingly enough, I remember the "tornado" being taught to me as a variation of the B&A choke ( _eri jime_ ) when the partner is turtling super tight with no room to insert the leg.

  • @FlipExSkeletor
    @FlipExSkeletor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In regards to that bow and arrow choke variation. I’ve had a lot of success in hooking my trapping leg over their head to maximise the lapel cutting into the neck. Loved this video 🤙 so many good submissions

    8:15 I kinda feel like there, he has the advantage with 1 leg and 1 arm against just your left arm...
    He can maybe make you let go of the sleeve by pulling up with his arm and down with his leg simultaneously, and then try to defend ? I don't know much about the ground game tho, so I'm probably wrong ^^'

    why does bjj or jj not have wait classes as far as I could see on TH-cam. Sorry if I am wrong. Was just watching Planet 10 spar with another team. Seems very totally unfavorable. Just my 2 cents.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Almost every BJJ competition has weight classes. It’s the standard. There are however “absolute” divisions that aren’t divided into weight classes.

    This might be a silly question. I am brand new to the sport and have not found a Jiu Jitsu gym near me. When applying a “nasty choke” in your videos, the speed in which you apply pressure is rather slow. I understand that this could be attributed primarily to teaching. How fast would you apply pressure in a match as a sign of good sportsmanship and an attempt to avoid injury?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With control, chokes can be put on very fast. But there needs to be an understanding of what the pace of training is. If your partner thinks the roll is just 50% and you go 100% then it’s pretty rude. So just make sure it’s clear how hard you’re both going ahead of time.

    • @jacket2848
      @jacket2848 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In an actual tournament I probably wouldn't show much regard for how your opponent feels, that could be the difference between a win and a loss. When sparring with friends, just don't be a dick unless you've both agreed to be brutal to each other (you'll find you do this quite often, it's good to dirty spar now and again, pain tolerance stuff, etc)
      At our gym on Fridays we have that day, you can do all sorts of stuff. For example, when grabbing the pants you can roll your knuckles into their shins 😂 poor technique of course, but it is funny!
