To leave is to admit defeat and let them take over. The solution is to never back down and fight till the end. Hopefully, it won't come to a physical, violent and militarized fight (more than it already is) but we've got to be prepared to fight for what we believe in a 1000x stronger than they do or they will win. The Nazis lost not because they were helplessly incompetent (though incompetence makes a foe more easily defeated) but because they were met with resistance once we realized what they were, what goals they had and what they were capable of. Let's resist conservative, fascist and neo-liberal capitalist politicians before they have destroyed everything we stand for.

I agree. Freedom of religion has been twisted into the “freedom” of organized religion to do whatever they want to whomever they want without consequences, interference, or oversight as long as it’s done in the name of Jesus. Other religions get heavy restrictions and ostracism. When other religions enter the chat “freedom of religion” is replaced with “this is a Christian Nation”. If you don’t like the Christian church you’re going to, you can just go to the one across the street. But if you see a place of worship other than Christian, it’s likely to be the only one in the state, and I guarantee you local Christians are working to shut it down by hook or by crook.
Real freedom of religion is the freedom to choose what religion you believe or don’t believe. To worship any god you want or no god at all. It’s not, not should it ever be the “freedom” of organized Christianity to rule the world and tell everyone what they have to believe.

After WW2, we restructured our system by limiting the powers of the chancellor and president, and setting up checks and balances in a more effective way.
It's not as simple as leaders going bad and everyone else just following along; how the system was set up played a major role. We had checks and balances back then, but once he got in power, Hitler was able to bypass those, or even disable them entirely.

The US isn’t the only country who have reverence for whatever makes up the Constitution or whatever democratic system of rules they have - what about Australia and New Zealand? Australia claimed ‘ Terra Nullis’ or no people existed prior to the British landing and taking it over. The only difference is the ‘Founding Fathers’ that is unique to America - but Australia had a similar start to the US. Both did their best to rid the country of the native inhabitants, whatever their motive - usually power. Saying your country’s governance is only a couple of centuries old must be so angrily or hurtfully received by its original inhabitants.
The one good thing Australia has is a Prime Minister who must attend sessions of parliament and hear the arguments of all sides. How can an uninformed President like Trump, who can’t give any legislation the attention it deserves, veto anything with thoughtful consideration- it’s beyond his capacity. I’d hope previous President were briefed but Trump didn’t have that mental acuity needed. Others didn’t either, but I’d hope they were at least briefed rather than listening to the last person he spoke to. He couldn’t have argued into the night - he couldn’t stay awake in his own trial. Prime Ministers can be challenged as the leader - something that happens way too often. If they’re voted in they should keep their term.Had Trump been a Prime Minister he’d have been challenged as Party Leader as soon a it became evident he didn’t have the qualities needed in a leader. No Democratic system is perfect, but it’s the best system so far, but the US system of Democracy is not unique.

as horrible and terrifying as this is, they have done a very good job at getting what they want (which obviously makes it more scary). If you want people to do what you want there are a few simple steps:
    1. complement them, tell them they are smart or powerful
    2. align what you want with their values and show them how implementing your ideas goes along with their values
    3. make it very clear (as in step-by-step instructions) what you want and how it can be done
    4. offer to help
The heritage foundation and especially through Project 2025 has followed this perfectly and it is terrifying. I wish that people on the left had the time and money to make this kind of concerted, structured effort to get their plans in place. One of the greatest gifts given to the right-wing extremists was the word "woke". They cannot define it and that's the way the want to keep it. It can be moulded into whatever suits their needs, namely anything that they disagree with or disagrees with them is immediately defined as "woke". I believe it was initially supposed to mean that those crimes going previously unpunished would no longer be ignored or turned a blind eye on. Something that is woke is trying to cater to any audience that is considered "oppressed" in some way. This ranges from women to PoC to lgbtq. Generally the idea is that white men suck, while everyone else has some form of virtue.
It's very noticeable in many types of entertainment and honestly only making the problem worse: "You like hulk? Well here's the girl version she's much better at everything and she can control her anger, because being a woman is the most difficult thing ever. Also the villain of the story is litterally all the Hulk fans. " That's one of many examples and anyone into Hulk will feel insulted, which pushes them further into the arms of the fascists.
I'm very much on the left of the political spectrum, but I think trying to understand where they're coming from, rather than trying to "gotcha" them, is a better way forward. Especially since what is actually meant by the term woke is pretty obvious. Some people take it too far, but those are on our side as well.

You are right, the right uses religion to its advantage. But Democrats also use identity and social justice as brownie points. Half the people I talked to that didn't want Biden wanted Gavin Newson, only bc they said "Well he's young, gay, it would be perfect!" and that's all they can support him with. Politicians are greedy from both parties. Call out corruption where you see it, not just if it helps your movement in that moment.

It’s scary to hear how this is happening in the USA, especially when you are in Russia, where all this has been happening in the same order for the last five years, and you now see where all this is leading us. Please unite and defend your rights. fight against fascism in your country, against internal regressors. In Russia, we missed our chance to build opposition due to the complete breakdown of any opposition left forces and we can only depend on circumstances beyond our control at this point in time. Don't repeat our mistakes.

I think one of the reasons that poor conservatives are willing to be on board with cutting regulatory bodies is we have negative experiences with the bodies that are supposed to defend us, but don’t. My family lives in Pennsylvania and we have had PPL overcharge us and we took it to the PUC, which is supposed to protect consumers. It basically just gave us a grace period where they couldn’t shut off our power to get money together for the overinflated bill. There is no standard of evidence that PPL has to meet, but there’s an extremely heavy burden on the consumer. I guess literally nothing would be worse, but the PUC basically just ends up being an enforcer to make people pay whatever the electric company wants, and the people pay the cost of the agency through taxes. To get popular support for regulation, you need these agencies to have a tangible benefit to the average person.

Yes, it will, & no number of dem victories will stop that. The only way to peacefully undo a fascist movement is to directly address the material conditions which fuel it.
Take huge, visible steps to reduce wealth inequality, lower cost of living, & enrich the poor & so-called "middle class."
Free university, massive socialized housing programs, universal healthcare, a national employment guarantee, trust busting, & large-scale wealth redistribution. This is the only way to end fascism in the US without bloodshed.
