This is SOOO reminiscent of that ‘97 5th quarter moment! If you remember: Bama State was so hype & turnt b/c they knew they had a bad band that year; thinking they were def delivering an “L” to SU that year. They rocked that ‘Jamaican Funk’ in the 5th and them (the band) & the crowd went BERSERK when the song was finished. They celebrated too early. 10 seconds later, everyone had forgotten anything Bama State had done. #Blood Same thing happened out here w/that tune they played right before this; thought they finally had Southern nailed to the cross. They celebrated too early.
I marched for another SWAC school but the thing that has always held my school band was arrangements..I love how every SU arrangement is always full and there are no breaks in any of their songs. thats what sets them apart from everyone else
@@jj3a1 wow! I've learned so much since I've been reading these comments regarding music and bands in general. I've always been a fan of SU and the way they play their music. Thanks for your insight.
The last director of Southern university's marching band that was not from Southern University was T Leroy Davis back in the 50s (HE WAS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN) after that Dr greggs and everyone there after was Juke
This energy is what we miss now.

@dtb8793 I bet if Dr Greg's were still alive they would be playing with more fire. He would not settle for anything less. He was the goat.
