I wouldn't say that their musicianship is very poor at all. Playing at this volume with this many musicians in tune and in time is quite musicianly. This is excellence in the style that they are playing in.

Hmmm. I listened to both videos of "Carolina Band Neck 2011." Beauty is in the ear of the beholder. Carolina's Neck has a nice undertone to it. SU obviously emphasizes the melody or upper brass.

typically its bad when you play loud. but they way southern colleges play it loud and brass it it sounds amazing im my onpion. it makes it sound powerful.
@helloamill, LOL Yeah you're right. Its a bushleague style. When it comes to precision and musicianship they cant compete with Bethune Cookman, NSU, SCSU, and FAMU. When watching and hearing those bands play you know right away they have a much higher standard than SU.

@12PPB Clarinets have the trumpet part. Saxes have the horn part and flute/piccolo has the bartione part. But woodwinds are playing.

I think the most popular instrument in SU band is Mellophone and Suza. The are the most dominant. Trombones too.
