Africa's Parched Reality: The Zambia Story

Zambia declared drought a national disaster. President Hakainde Hichilema announced in February 2024 that the country was facing a food shortage following the lack of rain that had devastated agriculture.
This has been attributed to El Nino. The drought is affecting more than one million families. This spans 84 of the country’s 116 districts. Hichilema said due to the drought, Zambia lost almost half of the country's “planted area”. Farmers have also lost livestock as the drought which is also ravaging Malawi and Zimbabwe.
Power Shift Africa sent a team to Zambia to give Zambia a voice; this was the result.
