    • @LivingInTheKaliYogurt

      Knowing that, it's surprising that Blackmore didn't do a stint in The Yardbirds, too.

  • @frankpentangeli7945

    Part of that keyboard solo where Jon Lord makes it sound like a harpsicord is so Bach-inspired it's not even funny. People don't realize how much Blackmore and Lord were inspired by classical music, especially JS Bach. Then you throw in jazz and the blues, and you have a recipe for rock near-perfection. Deep Purple was THE SHIT!

    • @pocemonspivom
      @pocemonspivom 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boy are you stupid?Don't worry though. You're the only one who has heard bits and pieces of Bach from Deep Purple.

      I was just thinking that. A fugue-ish riff. But then again most of those late 60's and '70s Brit rockers had at least one member that learned classical piano. Nowadays, meh.

    Deep Purple (who I saw live in '72) had several advantages over their contemporaries. First: they were the first band I ever saw who were better LIVE than in the studio. Good Gawd can they dial it up. Then they had Ian Paice, maybe one of the best drummers who ever lived. Jon Lord on the Hammond B-3 organ, and nobody disputes him as the KING of that instrument. Ritchie Blackmore on guitar... the father of neo-classical shredding. And finally, those amazing vocals from David Coverdale.

    This line up had a massive audience concert at California Jam in April 1974, Ontario Motor Speed, in a tour supporting the Burn album recorded in Montreux, Switzerland in November 1973. The master guitarrist Ritchie Blackmore and Hammond B3 keyboardist Jon Lord (R.I.P.) at the top of their game. This one was the opening song for that Jam concert. Ian Paice's drumming at his peak. They were the original founder members of Deep Purple back in 1968/69. The lead vocal David Coverdale and bassist Glenn Hughes came in replacement of Ian Gillan and Roger Glover as well. Good reaction paying attention to every song part, and the comments about the instrumental solos. Thanks, and take care.

    Everyone in the band, on this song, is on fire...and I agree that Ian Paice's fills are amazing. The one thing I remember when this song first came out was that the rhythm guitarist in my band used to say " no bands in our town are doing Burn as a cover, cause it's too hard to learn and perform well" For the most part I think he was right, we never saw that song ever covered in the '70s.

    After watching your reaction more thoroughly (I already knew it was a great song of course ;-)) I get the feeling that Lex has alot of Ritchie Blackmore to check out.
    He is one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time. If you really get into Ritchies sound and style of playing, there is an ocean of greatness to be found!

    Watch Sina Doering playing the drums on this as well as Yoyoka. Both of these women got high praise from Ian Paice Deep Purple's drummer. He liked both of these performances and I think they did something with him together.

    The entire record is great and has shades of progressive rock on many tracks.

    the guitar and keyboard solos are definite ear candy, the drums drive the song and the vocals are dirty and gritty. everything you want in 6 minutes.
