Having racist values passed to you by your parents/peers/siblings is NOT an excuse for racism. It is a big deal and people need to know when they're crossing the line.

And white people have not been given an easy role of taking care of all other people as watching SOME work hard and SOME hardly work. Standing up for your own is admirable but we all need to consider the others roles here…no matter how many people we provide for wether through taxes or donations or time, sacrificing time even lives for others go totally unrecognized…what? Just hand over the country…lol is this a robbery…more? Shameful actions…is it racist to observe the actions of a group well that makes me racist then I don’t care ..I’ll take the word, at least it’s better than living a lie. I had many family members die for others freedom ..repetition anyone?some of the most racist are ones pointing fingers…I think racism comes from blame, want, envy, and mistrust and misunderstanding hatred for all that. Crimes against others are shameful ugly acts done in past and also today.

I completely disagree. You're saying that you shouldn't take it personal. You assume that people take it personally. I think you actually don't understand what racism is. Racism is not aimed at the individual. So you can't take it personally. Racism is aimed at a GROUP. If someone said something unkind to me personally, it would become an insult. But when it's something unkind about the group I belong to, it's racism. Racism hurts more than personal insults. You just don't understand.

Words don’t mean much -- think of how many people have heard the word’s I love you and then find out that love was not the truth…but actions of wanting to take what you own or some advantage over another -hurting another’s body is a criminal act and should be taken somewhat differently (thinking of a case of a child) but also love and forgiveness of the offended person expressing that toward the racist after apology both actions of the racist and the victim of racism is act of love. Racism should be stopped at childhood age…it’s very judgmental …I would also like to add that there are those that provoke racist feelings and that is also worse than has been spoken about before…I have seen that done on both sides it’s very ugly. Nothing good comes from these feelings acted out to hurt each other. I’m always happy when I see the strength of the bullied take the better road..

I like the 4 Agreements, but at a certain point, you really do need boundaries. Don Miguel Ruiz talks about cutting ties w/hypocrisies because it only hurts you in the end.
If African Americans didn’t “take it personally” (racism, oppression) they would’ve still endured the worst kinds of physical, mental, and financial enslavement of the colonial past.
At a certain point, you gotta say No when No means NO!

You have to make it a BIG deal and it is a BIG deal. If we are not stand up for ourselves and confront racisim headon, we are not doing ourselves a favor. Ppl who have racist opinions are not going to be educated just because you are negotiating with them and finding out why they do that. These ppl do that because they are just racist. I don't mean you have to use violence or anything against the law, you must be firm, calling them out, making them realize that it is not acceptable behavior. You may not change ppl's view straight away, but you need to make it clear to them that it is very wrong and they need to shut up.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

This is extremely disappointing advice. It gaslights the victims of racism and spiritually bypasses the vey real implications and suffering that racist behavior causes. My husband and I were victims of a hate crime at our home on Christmas Eve and we had to fight for our lives. Speaking in a loving way to our attacker was not an option and actually can endanger someone further. You should really be more informed and actually speak to victims of racism before belittling their experiences and telling them to be more compassionate to their attackers. I am appalled by this video and ashamed that it is coming from a fellow AAPI during a time of so much racism and violence targeted towards our communities.

  • @Liliarthan
    @Liliarthan หลายเดือนก่อน

At this day and age, unless the person is a very young child, there is no excuse for racism or other forms of bigotry. If they were indeed brought up in a racist environment (well, racism is taught, not born with), they have every opportunity and responsibility to learn and do better.
If they have indeed been living under a rock, then you may be the first person to call them out and give them the opportunity to learn and do better next time. But if you don’t do that, then you would be taking away a learning opportunity for them. More importantly, since you don’t owe them a lesson, it is for your and society’s benefit to call out unacceptable behaviour because not doing so is providing silent approval that enables them to continue this behaviour of hurting you and others. The issue isn’t only on the comment they made, but that their attitude can go on to sustain systemic prejudicial practices that disproportionately disadvantage those who cannot speak up.
The phrase “see something, say something” applies in these situations too.
Just do it in a manner that is proportional to the offence, as it’s not helpful to overreact to a situation and cause the other person to double down on their views. It can be as simple as “Did you mean for that comment to sound racist?” or “Did you mean for that comment to hurt me?” If they make it clear that their intent was to hurt and be racist, then you can try a “Do you think it’s morally acceptable to hurt a group of people based on the type of family they were born into, the body they were assigned at birth, neither of which they had any choice about?”
But if they are just racist and have no hope of educating/improving, then a simple “I do not tolerate racism towards me or anyone else, so goodbye.” and walk away.

  • @domesticterror7970

Redo this question. In today's weird upsidedown world, as opposed to 7 years ago, it isn't slurs anymore. It's elimination. From colleges and universities. From land. From others telling me how to feel about myself as a woman, or man, or child playing dressup. It isn't slurs anymore. The world has gone way passed that.

Doesn't sound like you've actually suffered from it and you're giving advice. As an asian female who has accent, I do get affected in many ways. Microaggression with deceiving smiles is more common than name calling or straight up bullying, and people have to suck it up or fight for their small rights just because we're colored living in North America. Maybe the racistic treatments have not been as evident to you as to the people who has lived in Asia longer than you did and shows more asian culture or accents. So you might not be the most suitable person to give advice since you don't even understand the suffering people go through because of this

but getting picked on is a natural part of growing up, not serious insults but joking and playing around isn't much of a deal

@@tomatobastardo2637 nope she really wants me to stay away for the most part, like shielding me from him but i met him already, I assured her it was better now than never and we went to her house, I actually met him and he was actually nice to me which was a shocker

I experienced racism recently. An oriental man (maybe he was Indian or Chinese, I dont know, something weird like that) spoke to me but he didn't refer to me as "lord", "master", "king", "bossman", nothing. I was literally shaking. Now I know the true meaning of racism
