In this episode, I mess around and find out I am missing a ton of parts, and then the worse I break a very expensive part that keeps me from riding it today.

Great tips, I appreciate the way that you take time to explain things properly and that you show your mistakes, so that we see what real world trike rebuild is. Thank you
Thank you, yes im full of mistakes. Lol thanks for watching.
I had my carrier break when I was replacing the bearings. Glad to see I am not the only one! I got an 84 R that I am completely restoring as well. Really cool to see your videos!
Awe man, thanks its noce to know im not alone. Lol misery loves company. Send me a few pictures and i will showcase on a up coming video.
Well brother at least I know that it’s not all my fight LOL. You can scratch a bold spot trying to figure out some of this. Thanks for sharing brother.
Scared me there for a min 😅 glad to see it wasn’t catastrophic can’t wait till the next episode!
Thanks for watching. Me to i cant wait either!
Sucks when things do not go the way that you plan.
You got this!
Yeah, kinda takes the wind out of your sails. But its all part of the process.
I don't think I've ever seen you wear the same shirt twice incredible! Thanks for inspiring all us 80s kids. Thanks to you I have a 84 200 es disassembled in my garage loving it.
The best part is your loving it! Nice. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@mrcbuilds yes sir you are a natural teacher. Thank you for making this fun for all of us whether we have trikes or not.
Many times I have made mistakes trying to get something apart and end up tearing something else up , but sometimes that how it goes. Man I wish I had a tire machine like that LOL! But I use my backhoe outrigger to break the bead and a piece of pipe that just fits over the rim. Sometime I have to get creative.
It happens to all of us sooner or later. The year i bought that i changed almost 30 tires by hand, never again. I used my backhow today to rearrange my table and shelves. Lol
With a little bit more time and of course money you'll have this little thing running very well , just like the ole 86' 250R 😎👍.
Thanls Mario, i hope so, I rode the 86 today, what a adrenaline rush a 2 stroke gives you. Thanks for watching.
@@mrcbuilds can't wait for more videos of the 86' 😎👍
Bucket list bike for me is an 84-85 Cr 500 and 86-88 FourTrax 250R. Silver lining is the rear carrier on that R will be new and reliable. One less worry. Mine was rusty too I soaked it for two weeks before I got it to break loose.
Hi Hanky. I should have been more gentle with it. But you knaow how it is sometimes. Those are nice machines on your lost. I misswd a cr500 a few months ago. Not sure if i "needed" that much power. Lol.
Exactly why I stay within my boundaries. My memory and attention span are marginal on a good day under normal circumstances. While I'm trying to figure out bolt sizes, my buddy has the head and jug yanked off the FL400 and measured the bore and estimated the overbore size to get past the scratch. I brokered the deal with permission to ride and possibly buy the machine when finished. He already lined up the machine shop and got a date to drop it off once the piston comes in. Love being part of these projects, even scrounging up tires for it will be fun. Circumstances warranted a phone call from the previous owner looking for a part and when he asked, "how much", I thought it might be time to ask about the Pilot. Without much back and forth, the price came way down and with snow on the ground and rain in the forecast, I took it. I called my friend and told him his Honda Pilot was in the back of my truck, and my morning was well spent. Everybody, including myself was happy this morning.
Great story and a happy ending, thanks for sharingand watching.
Nice to see a 2 smoker geting worked on I finally got that 200x going I had to replace the stator
Cool. Lets save them all!
@@mrcbuilds you know it next is a 70s honda 100 and a 70s kawasaki 100 2 stroke
Funny you showing a 250r three wheeler because on marketplace this weekend I seen one. Was taken apart but looked all there and was only 800. It didn't last long.
At that price i imagine not. Thanks for watching Eugene.
And the moral of the story is.....
DONT WELD THE %$#@ SPROCKETS ONTO THE SHAFT!!!
😂🤣😂🤣🤣
Excellent work MrC!
✌🍩
Agreed, thanks, thats 2 hours i wont get back. Lol
And while we're at it, lets stop welding shifters on.
@@JMKady76 sorry.
@JMKady76 why not, if the splinse are toast/stripped
Working on my 82 250r ... just have to accept set backs . As long as it's safe I'm not opposed to a bit of outsourced parts myself
Same here chris. Safe and reliable
@@mrcbuilds I want to pop the top off to verify but it sposd to be a 310kit I did throw on a 32mm carb cause I believe later years were lager over my 28mm stock. But overall the bikes in decent shape
My year bucket list is finish my 84 250r and start on my 200x... And definitely ride a lot 😂
Sounds like a great list. Thanks for sharing
The post on brake master is drilled and taped for bikes with mirrors.
Thanks Tim
great video. I've had 2 2nd gen Rs both lost 2nd gear. Did some internet reading and found 2nd gear is a little weak on these.
I will keep that in mind, i hope to check the trans real soon. Thanks for watching John.
I have a favorite long sleeve shirt as well
This was my welding shirt. Can you tell?.
Fun, fun video! I just wish I could ride it when done.😁
Thank you. Im looking forward to it.
Probably better off you found out that carrier was compromised now then later. Glad to see you getting to use those hubs the extra width helps big time
Yes thank you again!
@@mrcbuilds absolutely
yeah man !
Keep plugging away at it. You will have a running ride worthy Trike. Loving it so far. God Bless.
Thank you. Yes thats the plan small steps always moving forward.
That was kind of a bite in the ass with the rear-end be messed up. Murphys law at work, if it can happen it will happen. Good vidja
I curse murphy often in the shop. There are just some days i should be out there. But i push through and try not to let it get me down. Thanks for watching
@mrcbuilds that's all a guy can do in the end, just keep on pushing!
Another great video
Thank you Dylan
I have some nice shirts and pants that were 40 or 50 bucks a piece and I want to keep them nice
So thats why I keep a couple pairs of old long sleeve shirts and jeans with holes and grease stains in them lol
I feel like anyone that gos and works on stuff needs shop clothes lmao
Hi EasY Lee. Yep thats my old welding shirt. Its ever bit 20 years old. Its so stretched out thats a large and it still fits. Lol thanks for watching.
Great channel with lots of hard to find information. I wanted to ask you if you know where I can get a seat pan and foam for a 1984 ATC 110 or if you could share information on how to refurbish a rusted seat pan. Thanks again for your entertaining channel.
Thats the Achilles heals of that machine. There was talk of a fiberglass pan sold by atc heaven, but i have never seen one. Theres been many homemade fiderglass copies of the steel pan made too. I would ask the online forums and ebay. Hope that helps
No matter how much you look over a project. You will always miss things till you put it apart.
The old rule still applies. Think of a finished price, then double it!
Now adays, may be triple it. Lol
@@mrcbuilds yes probably is with the crazy parts prices now.
I have a shirt just like that I love also. I only get accused of being homeless when I have a big beard. Where are you located? I am in Pa and it is cold here and especially out in the barn.
Florida. Perfect weather for my favorite shirt.
What kind of carrier are you going to go with?
Only one i can find thus far is aftermarket by east lake.
What battery is compatible with the atx big red Honda? I went on Amazon and the YTX14AH and the YTX5L-BS keep showing up which dono get
I have used the ytx14ah many times over the years.
so how rare is it to find one of these with nothing missing for the most part just cracked plastics?
Id say pretty rare. This is the first one i have ever found.
What are the first couple of things I should do when I get myself a honda trike thats in pretty rough condition (hasn’t been touched in a while) and plan on restoring it?
I like to verify what works and what doesn't. then I focus on what needs repair to make it run, then what's needed to drive and stop, then make it look good. I like to make a list of parts in that order, so you don't get overloaded what a lot of expenses. I spend money only as needed. Start with checking everything, fluids, spark, compression, then form a plan moving forward with the fist goal to get it running second to ride it, third to make it look nice.
@@mrcbuilds what if you have multiple things not working. How do you choose which thing to fix first?
@@yowussupguys6613 like i say in my videos, i always start with spark.
Me and my friend found a honda 200 and we plan on restoring it up. I took some pictures of the trike and would like to know what parts are salvageable and what parts are not. We tried pulling the crank rope but it doesn’t retract which we believe is because of a spring missing. We cant open it up right now because we are waiting for permission from the owners to take the trike but when we do i will list more pictures. Also is there a way I can get in contact with you so I can send you the pictures because TH-cam does not let me post the pictures? Thank you so much
Sure thing, you can find me on facebook and Instagram. Happy to help. Be sure and join a few groups like honda hoarders and others, the atc community is huge and happy to help.
@@mrcbuilds thank you so much you dont know how much this means for us! Cant wait to get this bad boy up and running!
I need a air box and a few other odds and ends any help?
I really dont any extra parts for this machine. When i finish it, i will sell off any extras then.
How do I buy a red Honda Hoarders hat like yours
Your in luck. HH is taking orders now for hats, hoodies and more. Join HH and place your order.
Where do I go to purchase parts for my honda 200?
Hi Andrew. Everywhere really. Facebook groups like honda hoarders, atc collectors, ebay even amazon.
I’m not getting spark on my 1984 any help
Watch my no spark video.
Most common issues are: bad kill switch, bad key, bad reverse inhibitor, bad coil or cdi. Check in that order.
@mrcbuilds thanks
Original Honda parts also came from overseas as they are made in Japan including the threewheelers you are working on!! The only difference is made in Japan Honda is quality and parts you are showing in this video are made in China not as good quality do not last as long and that's why they are cheaper.
First comment.
Hey Cain!
