      What I'm wondering is if there is a setup for the car to make sure your front tyres are working optimally like the rear or is this the fact of the car no matter or just the track overall

    As someone who doesn't like a HUD in any racer I like this alot. The only things I have on display are tyer wear , fuel mix, fuel burn and fuel total and brake bias. I honestly haven't touched gt7 in a few months and have been playing a mixture of snowrunner for something relaxing and dirt 2.0
    I have been using dash panel for years, gt7 was supported for a short period but they removed it because they where unsure of the legal implications so removed it

    I've had this app for about a month and find it quite useful. The tyre temp display is about the only feature that isn't already available in the game but it allows me to monitor several different things at once. I usually have the app monitoring lap times and tyre temp while the on screen HUD monitors fuel level.
    I believe the tyre temp display will highlight possible flaws in your suspension setup as well. For example, the front tyres will heat up quicker and hold more heat if you stiffen the front suspension. Softening the rear will create less heat in the rear tyres, etc. This can help you find a more balanced tune that wears the tyres more evenly. Be interesting to experiment on an oval track with different ride heights and stiffness settings between loaded and unloaded sides of the car.

  • @ravey1981
    @ravey1981 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There's no reason to think that front and rear temperature should be the same, a rwd car will always work it's rears harder than the fronts, that's normal. Also there's no reason to think that the app has the tyre temperature window is correct, just because it's showing green doesn't mean the tyres are necessarily giving more grip. It just depends what the arbitrary value that the app developer has chosen is. The app is showing the tyre surface temperature as it's spiking and dropping very quickly, surface temperature is less useful than core temperature as that's the one that is linked to pressure. All in all I wouldn't get too caught up in watching the numbers, laptime and stint time is all that matters in racing.

    • @Doughtinator

    • @Doughtinator
      @Doughtinator  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan. As I understand it this app simply reads UPD data that the game spits out. I did some races with Sports Soft tires (daily race A this week) and didn’t really get much heat into the tires. It was Monza no chicane so that probably also had an effect too.

      May prove difficult for later endurance races and such, but I'm in it to be the most realistic it can be.

    • @de77thecomputer
      @de77thecomputer ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no, tire wear, temp and ultimately pressure in GT7 can be adjusted by brake bias front to rear.
      As l drive with NO ABS and no traction control where brake balance is set front to rear is very important as no 2 (mr, fr) cars are alike.
      Front engine, mid-engine all play a part in tire performance likewise brake balance has some effect on cornering.

    Pretty neat how this app works. The UI is pretty user friendly too. Only downfall is only being able to use 3 widgets unless you pay for it. At the very least, the free version is useful for tire temp, early wheel spin detection, and brake lock up detection. Not sure it's worth paying for the pro version though, as the rest of the info it provides is also provided by the game.
    Edit
    Odd you had to pay to use it with GT7. I am able to use it with any sim listed in the app. It just won't let me use more than 3 widgets without paying for the pro version.
    Edit 2 (sorry)
    The rear tires are holding heat better because the car is rear wheel drive. So they are constantly having a force enacted on them. This will change with FF and 4WD cars. Also, they way the tire wear model works since the last update, you bought yourself at least another lap with balanced approach. It doesn't seem like much on the visual chart. Tire fall off is very steep now though. The difference in a drivable or undrivable set of tires is so small percentage wise now, that the tire wear indicator is all but useless near the end of the tires life.

      Tyre temperature is literally everywhere - also in every single player race. You start at the temperature assigned to the specific tyres. From then on they can drop in temperature or rise depending on car configuration, tyre position and track temperature. Front tyres on rwd cars usually cool down while rear tyres heat up. You get the drift...

    Can you verify that this is true telemetry? I would be skeptical of maybe it is just a simulated tire temp, what tires would be if the game had that much detail of tire temp. Hope this question makes sense.

    • @Doughtinator
      @Doughtinator  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems believable to me. From what I understand. GT7 spits out a telemetry feed via UPD and this app just monitors this data stream.

    Bro! Why isn’t this in the game. Like you was getting to. If players want simple settings automatic and regular tire wear models etc that’s fine. Yet if you want advanced manual transmission tire temps etc let us have it!

    I wrote a question before?, but apparently it got deleted?
    Did I do something wrong?, I asked under another users question, is that not allowed? fondfarewell2 !
    Well, I try again 🙃:
    How do you get those data?, bear with me, I´m kinda old, and knows nothing about android at all, I only use apple, but I would eventually buy a cheap android tablet, or phone, just to get these aditional data 😁
    Will any android device do?
    There is a similar app. In applestore, (dashpanel) but support for GT has been removed, because of "legal grey area"

    • @Doughtinator
      @Doughtinator  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes TH-cam comments don’t appear. You did nothing wrong.
      I also only had apple but unfortunately it’s not available on apple.
      I did find myself an old Samsung tablet and got it on that. Any device that can use google play apps should be able to get it.
      Search for Sim Dashboard. 👍🏻

      The app tells you. But basically you put in the IP address of your PlayStation into the app. Then the app looks for the data being broadcast from your PlayStation.
