the effect is a "Talk box" it runs the sound through the tube and it's picked up by the mic. opening and closing the mouth and also changing the shape of the inside is changing the acoustic properties of the mouth and thus changing the dominant frequencies in the tone. the main problem of using the talk box is having saliva dripping down the tube and also when playing continuously there is a buildup of saliva in the mouth that might choke or drip out like what happens in the climax of the last solo. it's a hard effect to master and usually is more of an anecdote than the main sound of the instrument in a specific piece. this is the best use of it I've ever heard. hands down. truly mind blowing.
It's a TalkBox, same thing used in "California love" but he uses his oral cavity more like a pedal effect instead of saying words. It sounds so great !
Finished de-wintering the motorbike yesterday afternoon, took it for a shake down spin up the 'Vee' road through the Knockmealdowns, here in Co Waterford. this was the album of choice for the ride. Can't get enough of the drumming of Larnell Lewis at the moment. all of the people on this album are bang on top of their game but for me. Larnell is just astonishing.
Pretty sure it's called a talkbox, I had no idea, first time I heard this, that one could be used on a keyboard. Not a musician though, so I could be totally wrong. :-)
Snarky Puppy Rule. This whole album "We Like it Here" is on video, which, to watch is fantastic. There isn't a bad tune on the album, which there are 5 or six others of the same quality.
Hi there. It’s a “Talkbox”. Basically the synthesizer sound is fed to his mouth via the orange plastic tube creating the ability to shape the sound just like we do when we talk. Frampton made it famous back in the day, he actually spoke words with his guitar. Very cool!!
@@elysehfm8797 you gotta love music. Takes us on a journey that nothing else can. The current crop of genius level musicians is quite inspiring. I was a total noob keyboard player back around 1975 or so when Frampton blew us all away. Been playing ever since for big and small crowds, I owe my entire life to music. Have a great night. PS, all the Snarky Puppy stuff is unbelievable, along with a guy named Jacob Collier, if you didn’t know already. 😊😊
@@videditorEB1 I took piano lessons for nine years. My brain just doesn't work that way. I WANTED to play drums, but my parents didn't see that in my future. Oh well.
Dont get me wrong, I love this performance, but i like the albert hall live performance better. If you want better quality you should listen to this performance, but if you want better showmanship the albert hall lige performance is immaculate.

Lingus and Shofukan from this set will melt your mind.
Yes sir!!
Outlier too
Indeed
The keyboardist there (Shaun Martin) used a talkbox, which basically combines singing and playing the synthesizer. Pretty awesome!
You need to react to more of this set. This is one of my fav but Lingus, What About Me, Outlier, are equally as good. Whole session is legit
This sounded incredible, and the way they performed it was kinda mind-blowing. The singer was just amazing, one of a kind.
Another vote here for Lingus and What About Me? Please do a reaction for those, I always love watching people get blown away by them.

All you need to know is Snarky Puppy is living proof Aliens exist. They are not human, not a one.
Beautiful! I've never seen a talk box on the keyboard!
Chromeo ( great duo electro funk )
The keyboard player uses one all the time.
The pups are great. Lingus is a monster smash tune.

The whole session is scary good man. Read a bit about the drummer Larnell Lewis and this session. Mind blowing :-)

Amazing sound!
Just remembered, Joe Walsh used this effect too.
Look at you, schooling us old timers on Rocky Mountain Way. Awesome!!! 😃😃
@@videditorEB1 Lol! I know you!
The effect is a vocoder or sometimes called a talk box.
Teez, if you like this sound, have you done Peter Frampton's "Show Me The Way?" I have NO idea what that effect is.
