    Official video for Outlier by Snarky Puppy: • Snarky Puppy - Sleeper...
    Snarky Puppy is a collective of sorts with as many as 25 members in regular rotation. They each maintain busy schedules as sidemen (with such artists as Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and D’Angelo), producers (for Kirk Franklin, David Crosby, and Salif Keïta), and solo artists (many of whom are on the band’s indy label, GroundUP Music).
    The band was formed by bassist and primary composer Michael League in 2003, starting inconspicuously enough as a group of college friends at the University of North Texas’ Jazz Studies program. Three years later, a serendipitous intersection with the Dallas gospel and R&B community in Dallas transformed the music into something funkier, more direct, and more visceral. It was at this time that the group absorbed musicians like Robert “Sput” Searight (drums), Shaun Martin (keyboards), and Bobby Sparks (keyboards), and were heavily influenced by legendary keyboardist Bernard Wright (Miles Davis, Chaka Khan, Marcus Miller).
    Written and arranged by Justin Stanton.
    Produced by Michael League.
    Personnel:
    Michael League - Moog keybass
    Shaun Martin - keyboards
    Bill Laurance - piano
    Cory Henry - keyboards
    Justin Stanton - Fender Rhodes
    Mark Lettieri - guitar
    Bob Lanzetti - guitar
    Chris McQueen - guitar
    Nate Werth - percussion
    Larnell Lewis - drums
    Mike Maher - trumpet
    Chris Bullock - sax
    Bob Reynolds - sax (solo)
    Jay Jennings - trumpet
    Engineered by Eric Hartman, Roy Van Rosendaal, Mike Harrison, & Colin Benders.
    Filmed by Andy LaViolette, Brad Holt, Emily Schwarting, Joseph Lafond, and Christi LaViolette.
    Mixed by Eric Hartman in Dallas, Texas.
    Mastered by Scott Hull at Masterdisk New York, NY.

    Maher wrote this. A trumpet player wrote a song where the trumpets play a support role. Just one more proof that SP is all about the sound, and the movement, and how it works together to make magic.

    You are my favourite Snarky Puppy's reactor and i've seen every single reaction in youtube hahaha I would enjoy a lot your reaction to "The Curtain" by them with the Metropole Orkest. I think it's one of the best musical pieces of our time. Thank you for your work!

  • @JeffHendricks
    @JeffHendricks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    It's called a Talk Box, yes. It's basically a speaker with a tube attached to it... you can run a guitar, synth, etc. through it, and it sends the sound up through the tube into your mouth. You shape the sound that way, and the microphone picks it up. Kind of complicated, but when it was invented, that was the only way to do something like that.

    • @bobcieslinski
      @bobcieslinski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jeff! I thought it was called a talk box. Like I said Leter Franklin made that famous way back. I saw him in concert and he used it.

    • @CellarPhantom
      @CellarPhantom ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for describing how it works! I never understood the sound went into his mouth, bounces around and out to the mic, but that makes so much sense.
