    @Bob Flavin As you are describing headroom, kneeroom and so on, it actually would be nice to mention how tall you are.

    I bought my 5 door 2004 Golf GT 150bhp 2.0fsi from an auction in 2017 for £900, it had a leaking oil filter housing and a few bad tyres. What put other bidders off was the oil pressure alarm and flashing message on the onboard computer, it turned out to be the oil pressure sender wire was not connected to the earth, I fixed everything myself pretty quickly and did the carbon build up job as well as these fsi engines are bad for that. Anyways sold the private plate for £450 and have slowly upgraded some bits like the stereo to newer vw model and got the wheels refurbed. Great car with plenty of onboard toys, 10 speaker sound, auto lights, wipers and very comfy inside. I would not pay anywhere near €30,000 for any car as I can't afford it and cannot see any point either. I get that people want new cars, but having one is really not going to make me any happier in life tbh. The downside of owning an older car is tax is £25 a month and it does about 38 to 41mpg on its 6-speed box. And it has to use 98 Ron to get the best out of it. But I own it outright and not really going to depreciate any further at this point. New cars today are really expensive!!

    I dunno but the fact that you can increase the price of a 22k car by almost 50% with extras really annoys me. It just seems senseless.

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do that with most cars, there's no affordable car that has a decent amount of options as standard.

    • @TheIrishmanFootball
      @TheIrishmanFootball 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@BobFlavinVideo That's my issue. It's almost like a bait and switch. You can have this brand new VW for 22k but it's gonna be shite unless you spend another 8-10k. It makes sense on an S Class but 10k in extras on an affordable car just kinda sticks in the throat.

    • @bdeithrick
      @bdeithrick 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It means a decent car like Hyundai spec was never 22k to begin with. A feck in second hand market, you don’t know what’s inside when buying it

    I think you didn´t say that you can actually slide the whole back seats together to increase boot space. It's weird, because it's an actual useful feature and something different from any other car in the same segment. Maybe in Ireland they didn´t offer that "sildeable" back seat?

    I'm a bit late to find this review. In Australia, a fully loaded 85TSI Polo is AUD $31K, whereas the equivalent T-Cross is a whopping $39K. I think I'd sooner have a base model Tiguan or a mid-spec T-Roc.

    As usual it would be really useful if the presenter told us what his height and inside leg measurement is so we would know if we too would fit so well. My legs are very long so trying to find a car that is suitable is very hard. If the presenter mentioned those two things it would save me hours of trekking round dealerships testing for myself. Otherwise great review, thank you for sharing.

      @@BobFlavinVideo Unfortunately no panoramic roof can be spec' yet in UK but would probably add £900 to price.
      However ,I love the running boards addition, at approx. £500, looks good and a practical addition for young and old.
      I would spec the 115 ps, in manual, that would reduce price by approx. £1500 for me more fun. Space saver spare and tool kit at £115 a must have for me.

    Really interested in buying this car!
    Do you know whether with me, my wife and three high school youngsters and the boot full of luggage the 1.0 115 TSI with manual 6 speed gearbox would be adequate for motorways?
    Also engine weatherstrip where windshield wipers are, looks too narrow at the sides, are there adequate sink holes there to avoid water ingress in the engine bay?

    Bob quoted average fuel consumption of 6.7 l/100km, whereas the screen said it was 6.9l/100km. Had it changed while he was speaking? I wouldn't expect it to improve whilst parked up. This equates to 34 mpg and Bob thinks this is good for a 1 litre , 2 wheel drive car? This is the same as my 2.2 litre Audi 90 would average, and every Golf GTi I ever owned. I like Bob Flavin, but the lesson here for me is to treat any review with caution. i would expect well into the 40s for a car like this, which I think is an SUV for people who can't afford an SUV

    I just watched Bob's review of the 8 series BMW and don't understand how he can view 6.9//100km as good in a 1 litre vw but 7.4 l/100 km not very good in an 8 series BMW ? I think almost 32 mpg in an 8 series is pretty bloody good. No idea what engine was in the BMW because I'm not sure it was ever mentioned but it would be a minimum of 3 litres. Baffling

    Checked this out earlier in the week. It's something I am considering. The "haters" out there tend to find something to complain about no matter what. I currently have a Polo which I am really feeling like I have to crawl into.....semi bad back. I can plop down in this a heck of a lot easier. I also took my golf bag in with me to the dealer and if I push the back seats forward I can get the bag behind the seats as long as I take the driver out.....not bad. If they ever find a fix for that blasted 1.5 engine issue I would rather have a T-roc or Skoda Karoq......but I will definitely think about buying this car. We put less than 6,000 miles a year on the car.....so the smaller engine isn't likely an issue. I don't want any of the extras, just don't need them so I can get one of these with the DSG for close to £20,000.

    • @fhicks62
      @fhicks62 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BobFlavinVideo That I can tell, the ID will cost £5K more than a T-cross and looks like it won't hold the golf clubs behind the seats. Also....until I see some effort to increase the charge points around the UK....nope. Here in Harrogate, I think there is one spot (Sainsbury?) that you can charge a car.

      @F Hicks whats the issue with the 1.5 engine? Of course u mean the ACT with either 130 or 150 hp, right?

    • @fhicks62
      @fhicks62 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eetfuk1776 Check out the Skoda/VW/Seat forums. The 1.5 engine (especially manual) has a problem with "kangaroo" behavior in low gears and a hesitation issue as well. VW has acknowledged the problem. I was looking at the Skoda Karoq with the 1.5 DSG, but I'm not willing to risk it at this time. This T-cross with the bigger 114HP engine might work just fine for me.
