      3.3 and 3.8 are mostly the same. The 4.0 in the body style after this is really similar too. Just different displacements and power levels but the same engine family. They are all about the same reliability wise. Which means better than the 2011+ 3.6 DOHC

    Ohh I’ve done that job a few times on my wife’s 05 T&C that’s now got 274,000 miles on the clock. Not the worst job but not the best either. The last one I did didn’t fix the problem....it just needed a thermostat which is about a 15 minute job👿. Her car is about due for another belt and tensioner which only tend to last about 2 or 3 years before the belt starts chirping when the a/c compressor cycles. Original compressor though. It has been the most reliable vehicle we’ve ever had. I feel your pain with the heat. Just spent a week in the mountains where it was 70-80 degrees now back to Charlotte and the high 90’s

    God almighty I remember having to do the WP on my 95 Infiniti G20 SR20. The WP was about 5 inches thick and I had maybe 2 inches between the pulley and the body rail. Had to loosen the mounts, but they were rust attached to rust. Ended up having to torch one apart and replace the other 3. Same car also had a ripped intake boot post-MAF. Found a NOS Infiniti part on Ebay for like $20.
    FWIW I always do my final air bleed w/ the nose up. Don't matter on every car but man if you ever have to bleed any GM 4.3 trucks or Toyota 3.4 trucks, or hell most GM pushrod V6s, it can def save a comeback. Also helps w/ those rear heater lines going thru the firewall on these Chrysler vans.
    Y'all got it easy down there in the south. Come up and visit rust country sometime. Those 2 piece nuts swell basically right outta the factory up here.

    So many customers don’t realize how much work goes into a lot of these repairs they just want to bitch about the bill. I’ve been in the service field all of life and I understand how it is. I’ve never bitched about a bill. Only the ridiculous prices manufacturers charge for the flimsy parts they make. Keep up the great work and videos. Hope all of you stay safe and enjoy your day. Btw I don’t mind you working with out a shirt on got to do what you got to do to get the job done. Just remember to give us a heads up if you’re going to take anything else off. 😆😂🤣

    so weird all the extreme heat you are having down south, here in Pocono's we are experiencing day temps in the 80's and night temps in the 60's. Little build up of humidity but that is going to go away this weekend.

  • @CR7659

    I looked at one of these last fall but it never got hot, auction and the kid starting them up hit the row it was in only to have the auctioneer go the other way, so it sat idling for a good hour. I probably should have bought it anyways, it was likely a thermostat, but I backed out at $750-ish. Had no idea how it would be to change. That pump looks like an absolute pain in the ass.
    I had one years ago I got cheap because the pipes for the rear heat down the back of the motor were leaking. I did good on that one, I had it fixed with a bypass hose for under $20 and drove it around, then I cleaned it up and sold it and made about 1100 on it.

    • @matthewbowen5841
      @matthewbowen5841 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet $10 it was the heater lines thru the firewall. They always leak because they are plastic. The Dorman plastic replacements are like $35 and take 5 min to pop on. They also have $100-ish metal upgrade ones but the plastic ones only die about every 10 yrs

    • @CR7659
      @CR7659 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewbowen5841 Supposedly it was the metal line that runs down the firewall and under the car. All I know is I bypassed it and it held pressure. The guy who bought it from me didn't even drive it, he used it for parts to fix another one. I had to take the wiper tray off to get to the connection.

I don't have any issues and she doesn't burn a drop of oil between OCD 5.5 k miles between changing. The good kid is about $40. Again what you think?🇺🇸✌

    • @matthewbowen5841
      @matthewbowen5841 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just look for any sparklies in the oil when you drain it. You can also grab a magnetic drain plug to concentrate them in one spot. If you don't see any, rest easy.

    • @matthewbowen5841
      @matthewbowen5841 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are actually pretty easy WPs. Most Japanese V6s with timing belts use that to drive the WP meaning 3x the work. GM had special tools for the Northstar and Opel twin cam engines (not the same tool, different special tools for each engine family). Ford Duratecs drive their pumps with the chain, which means book times of 13-15 hours and whole new timing chain kits. That's a $2000 bill at the dealer. Lots of the newer Ecoboost 4 cylinders have electric water pumps hidden behind the chain with a freewheeling idler pulley. You have to take the chain off even though the WP isn't even driven by it. And almost all the German stuff has had electric water pumps that require computer reprogramming with the dealer-only software.

      There's way worse cheapo tires than Westlakes. They and Federal also make some sizes you can't buy from anyone else, like stuff for little 12 and 13 inch econocar sizes from the 80s, the oddball 2nd gen MR2 sizes, Smart ForTwos, weird Mazda sizes over the years, and even older stuff like Saab Sonnetts and VW Vanagons. They were a go to when we were dealing w/ antiquated stuff or plus zeroing an older car to more modern wheel sizes.
