I had to come back here to say thanks. I was looking to get a chest rig/plate carrier to throw on for home defense. It got to the point of paralysis through analysis. I came across this vid and thought it was a great idea. I got my belt and mag pouches last week and it's just what I was looking for. 5 seconds, I've got my holstered gun, 2 extra mags, knife, and a flashlight on my body.
👍 For years I’ve kept a small pistol in the right pocket of my bathrobe, a light and folding knife in the left. But I really like this quick-on belt idea! 👍 I may not end up carrying everything you do, but this is a great concept.
My home defense consists 2 german shepherd and a half naked man in underwear wielding a tomahawk in one hand and shield in the other while I let out a battlecry
LOL My adult son thought it would be funny to surprise me at our getaway at the family farmhouse. No one else was supposed to be there that weekend. Halfway down the hall he was greeted by a naked bald man with a Glock 17. HE will NEVER get that image out of his head.
I understand that you have 2 German Shepherds. I have one question. While the half naked man in underwear is wielding a tomahawk in one hand and a shield in the other, what would you be doing besides letting out a battlecry?
Since my go to home defense gun is a Mossberg 500, my thump in the night kit is a chest rig. It has front and rear body armor panels, a pistol holster, and I have several shotgun cards affixed to it. I keep it slung over a chair in the bedroom, along with some electronic ear muffs. The ear muffs allow me to hear any possible intruders; and will hopefully keep me from getting permanent hearing damage if I have to fire my 12 gauge in the house. It's just the wife and I at home; and she knows to go to the safe room if she sees me throwing on my plate carrier.
Brian, I don't know if you are ex-military but I learned to keep a "loaded belt" next to my bunk while stationed in certain areas of the world, namely the Middle East. I continue that practice today. My weapon of choice on the belt is more a deterrent than to do extreme harm. However, I do keep a shotgun in my closet next to my bed. I also set up a chest pack with essential survival items just in case. I've never had to deploy either and hopefully never will. Your belt idea is a great one and I'm sure that it will become a common item in many more homes.
I too have a Tac belt for the very reason that you stated. I'd like to suggest having a couple of sets of handcuffs. In the event that you do catch an intruder or two. You can detain them in a safe for you and safe for them manner until the law arrives. Also, a set of house keys and car keys on a silent key holder in case you lock yourself outside or you need to drive around the block. Keep up the good work.
Damm I never thought of having a home battle belt. I have my nightstand gun with a flashlight and a duty belt for work but didn’t think of a battle belt. Thank you for the info. Will be my next little project.
I had one for years. Got a stainless steel Smith and Wesson 686 in 357 magnum set up in a cross draw a rig with 2 additional speed loaders and a bowie in the small of my back. Old school but I assure you quite effective. Also I like even better since I'm seeing your operation Christmas child shirt.
I had a similar experience. 2 o'clock in the morning I woke to the sound of glass breaking! This was years ago before I had any firearms. I jumped up out of bed with a baseball bat. Ran around the house ready to whip some you know what. Finally I realized a glass fell over in the sink. Me and the wife laughed later about it.
Good one brother Bryan. I agree with your idea of velcroing everything in place. It takes precious seconds to adjust the things on your belt. If they stay put you can develop muscle memory and your hand will go exactly where you need it to go without trying to find what you need. God Bless and I pray you never need it.
Very nice. Might I suggest a Kevlar and/or ballistic cordura loincloth attached to the front of the belt to cover up the goods when the belt is all you’re wearing.
Great info sir. I’m adding what you have recommended to my house. I have caught some kids Breaking into vehicles late at night, and wished I had a set of long-zip ties or handcuffs until the police arrived
In my opinion, have two! One in the front, for easy access, and a spare on the back in case there is more than one injury or if you collapse and someone has to grab it off of you.
I had the idea of creating a pair of coveralls that would have body armor in the front and rear and would magazine pouches and holster built in much like a plate carrier. These wolud set beside your bed with a pair of boots very much the same way a volunteer firefighter has his turn out gear ready to go. They would be called minuteman overalls.
Excellent idea. One thing I might mention, which we do at the PD, is carry the tourniquet the front of the belt near the buckle so that it can be accessed by either hand. If you take a round in the strong hand, you won't be able to reach the CAT. Other than that I think it's a great setup.
Bryan, you got me thinking and I dug out a ComfortTac velcro belt from one of my range bags. The ComfortTac belt is one of the most comfortable holster systems I've ever used. It's almost like my Nike gym weight lifting belt but softer and lighter. With the velcro secured in front, located over my right hip bone are two pockets, one with an elastic strap that has a snap closure where my Ruger is secured; next to it is an open pocket where I have a tactical Smith&Wesson folder and a small high lumen Olight flashlight with a hat/belt clip. In velcro pouches over my left hip are two magazine pouches. What I like about the ComfortTac is that it is form fitting and quiet until you pull the velcro apart of course. My Klik belt has a tendency to make sounds upon accessing any of the components attached to the belt. Another reason I love this ComfortTac belt is if you get into hand-to-hand combat with the perpetrator the belt moves with your motions vs the Klik belt which could swing/move in a direction possibly preventing you from accessing your weapon. I would imagine though that once you don and secure the belt you'd be drawing the weapon from its holster. I just like to make sure there's a perpetrator and not a family member before I draw my weapon.
Bryan, I don't know if Klick-Belts makes one, but some of the other tactical gear suppliers make a padded liner for those Velcro belts. I would look into one to save your skin, and by adding one to the inside it would keep your gear from sliding around on the belt. This would allow your gear to remain where you want it to be instead of having to adjust its location every time you put the belt on.
Lots of hard wear there young man. I found that having all the lights down stairs come on at one time from the bedroom is very use full in lighting up a target and not hurting a family member . It was not cheap but worth every damn dime it cost .Happy trails stay safe out there .
Things sliding around was the issue I had with the belt so that's why I switched over to a vest. Just as easy to put on and take off, allows me to carry more gear, and the gears are kept tightly in place.
New sub after this video. Like minded people. Been doing this for years. Running soe belt. Home depot has the hook and look industrial. Used some of the old digital bdu pouches. Its faster than a chest rig on and off. Chest rig is for boogiloo and belt is for night bumps. Do suggest and additional alarm box in your bed room. 2 reasons. 1 its hard to communicate with those that live in your home over the sirens. 2 once the sirens shut off criminals tend to realize someone is home and they need to leave but the down side is you immediately lose the element of surprise. The other side of that is the alarm it self will put the criminals on high alert. I do suggest putting a radio on the belt or some kind of internal communication device on the belt that will allow you to speak with the other residents of your home. You can pick up electronic hearing protection that also has a Mic really cheap on eBay that will protect your ears, amplify low level sound to keep your situational awareness.
Suggest you add a set of cuffs or at least some zip ties to your system. If you dont have to go lethal but you do have to incapacitate an unwanted guest while you wait for LE to arrive a good set of hinged cuffs will be vital.
Hey there boss awesome video I enjoyed it very much it's very informative. It cracks me up when I spend all types of money on something and expected to be perfect and end up spending more money to make it perfect and end up spending more money to make it perfect.
A way to carry a cell phone would also be good. Rifle mag carrier works nicely for that. It can be put on speakerphone and leave you hands free. I use my 3-Gun belt setup for bump in the night use.
why not use the inner belt to secure the stuff in place. maybe i missed the part about the inner belt to help hold it in but i would use a inner belt to secure everything in place
My bump in the night belt is very much like yours minus the knife and medical gear. I do have a set of flexicuffs. If youre in your home you can always get to your med kit try(unless youre own a large property) and keep it sleek and light.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose i live in an apartment so i guess thats the difference. I leave a med kit upstairs and one downstairs and one that goes with me when i go out.
Flexicuffs are nice bc you can safely neutralize a person for the most part and cops wont see you as a threat when they come and you have your gun in your hand still.
Brian, thanks for sharing! Stories are good fun, even if "em-bare-ass-ing"... Being Canadian, home defense is a different thing for me, but I have done hiking with a belt order for carrying my knife, hatchet, first aid kit, fire pouch, 1-qt water, for 30 years.. combined with a small pack, it makes for a light but capable carryall method.
Few people are awoken from their slumber and tasked to go from 0-100 MPH than firefighters. 20 years ago I must've subconsciously thought of this when I began to simply leave the pants, complete with all of my gear, just beside my bed in a manner that allows me to easily place my feet into the legs, pull up, snap and clasp before looping my arm under the portion of my sling nearest me, hanging off of my headboard. Consistency in training and operation has always been a good thing for me, so I never saw value in any other concepts I thought of. It's always the same setup, whether I'm in my bed or across the country. Same guns, knives, light, wallet, belt and shoes. I hope after 20 years, you will feel as good about your system as I do mine. I will say though, there is a reason you only see equipment carried SOB in Hollywood: the spine doesn't care much for anything pressed into it, especially at speed. You may want to train from the ground with that setup, before you commit. Last observation, if I may; fighting without clothes and footwear is a rough way to go. Slipping on steps, catching a pinky toe on a chair, stepping on broken glass, or kneeling in it, are all bad things, and could prove deadly when loaded weapons are in the picture. Normally, I'm not compelled to comment on your videos. I watch the ones that interest me, hit the button and carry on. In this instance, I saw an opportunity to help someone that clearly is open to help (ie. the tools and training you mentioned). Stay safe.
I just finished a 2 day Immediate Action Medical class at Tactical Response. I’ll Be making an update video on this belt soon showing several changes to both medical and other stuff.
Great idea, living in the uk (Scotland) I am not able to carry or use a gun, but I have my trusted tomcat 80lb crossbow, and some knives, along with my fairly powerful catapult and easy access ball bearing ammo,, so that gives my partner and I a little bit of peace of mind if someone does happen to "unfortunately" break in especially during these uncertain times, you can never be too careful.
Hey Bryan, you might want to do some research and find a tactical loin cloth to hang on your belt :)) I have one of those telescoping nubby night sticks with a high lumen flashlight at the busy end of the stick...and I'll grab my pistol off my nightstand I keep covered with a towel (nightstand is also a lockable gun cabinet). I made a sheath for the night stick and it's located just in the space between my mattress and the box spring. I always sleep in a pair of oversized Ex-officio boxers as they look like a pair of gym shorts.
As a stopgap, what about duty belt keepers to keep your gear in place? My night rig is an inexpensive nylon shoulder rig, 3 spare mags for a G22 with mini o light, spare small led flashlight mounted next to the right side 2 spare mags, as backup to an AR 9. Sorry, not enough hips or rear to keep a belt up without pants these days.
yea. many people seem to overlook that. i have a family so i cant have my hearing compromised. communication is important and i'd like to keep it during those hectic situations
Stay tuned for an updated and improved version coming soon. I got together with Dona from Klik Belts and we are coming out with a Survival On Purpose package
so using this belt...when you barely have any clothes on. Wouldn't the velcro mess you up? I have the blue alpha gear belt. It is set up for with PANTS ON....and won't fit right if it is done without clothes.
I have a sub2k with a laser/light combo attached underneath and a 33 round mag loaded with hollows. I’ll skip the belt because if I come downstairs at night because I hear a noise I’m not gonna be wearing pants anyway.
Nice belt. I have the same belt clip on mine but it is a thinner web belt. You have to keep the small of your back clear though. Move that 30rd to the front or far off to the side as you can behind your glock mags. Even a light collision against a wall or counter can incapacitate you like a stun gun if you hit the small of your back just right/wrong.... and much worse can happen.
Hey got an idea! You can attach a rag all around the belt, so you can avoid embarrassment in the future. You know, like the isolated tribes in Amazon. You're welcome.
I too had an incident at a former residence one cold January night around 15 yrs ago. We were awoken about 3am to a sound I can only describe as loud and disturbing. My wife was first out of bed and attempted to run out the bedroom to check out one of our dogs who was sick and in his kennel. I of course stopped her because I was convinced it was a home invasion which called for me to be the man of the house and handle it. So I, shalaylee swinging, began clearing the house with my 12 ga. To my surprise there were no invaders just the top of the 90 foot tree out back that had broken off about 15ft off the ground and laid itself down across the yard and house putting a rather large hole in roof of the house utterly destroying the kitchen. I have not changed my sleeping habits but I now have a side saddle on that shotgun.
I put together a belt just like that 4 years ago! I keep it in my closet in a small push-button combo safe (2 young kids in the house). The only additional thing I have on mine is a Leatherman.
I’d recommend a padded belt, velcro is more made for a dual belt system with a velcro inner belt, a padded belt would feel better on bare skin and would stay in place better
Bryan your videos are always very inspirational whether I choose to do what you do or take what you do and make it my own, I'm still learning. And having a model like you teaching us is great . Please keep up the great work looking forward to more videos
From a retired peace officer you need to move that magazine in the back. When you put something in the small of your back and then you are pushed into something like a fence or a wall you will destroy your back. Move the magazine to either side of your back along the muscle and you will be fine. Nice job.
How do y ou knoiw abou the Inforce? It has done fine for me so far. But I am going to keep testing it. And I have an update video coming soon on the belt that addresses the velcro issue
@@SurvivalOnPurpose I don't personally. When I was in the market for a light I really wanted an inforce. They look simple, and intuitive, which I like. However, I asked a buddy who is a trainer and he said inforce everything fails consistently in his classes. I've heard this from other people aswell. You hear it enough it's probably true.
Say you did have a home break-in and you chase the intruder out of your house. Now for whatever reason (for example, they have something or someone you really want back), you need to continue to chase the intruder while outside the house. If the intruder is hurt by you and then when the police arrive on the scene, they see you wearing/possessing an "assault kit". Will the police consider your actions premeditated? If you're still in your house, you'd have time to put away your belt, but not if you're down the road.
If you chase the intruder out of your house and then use deadly force against them, you are going to jail. Once they are fleeing your justification of self defense is gone
Thank you! I have been looking at nighttime in home defense and how I would address/defend my home if intruded. I do have a Japanese sword at my bed, but I want to be fully ready to battle. Never thought about a battle belt that would keep certain gear on it all the time. Getting that klik belt!
I would suggest using anything other than a long bladed weapon. It's not as intimadating as you may think and it's very hard to use especially in side of a house. Unless you have a massive open house or only plan on staying in one room, I'd upgrade to a knife or tazer. Much more manuevarble and you don't need to be a samurai to use them effectively
Great idea! A few critiques: Don't have anything covering the small of your back: a fall could cause permanent spinal cord injury. Move more of your gear to that empty space in the front. If someone is on top of you, how easily can you reach behind your back vs. in front of your groin area?
this one in 3-ply. Use coupon code SOP20 until Dec 18, 2020 & save 20%. After that the regular code SOP15 will still save you 15% www.klikbelts.com/collections/1-75-duty-belts/products/copy-of-matte-black
I'd add pepper spray for something that might not require a gun or knife. I almost wonder if a bandoleer would be even faster on (though access to stuff would be limited).
Nice, a couple of us were just asking you about battle belts a few weeks ago 😉 I think when you did the klickbelt shotshow video. Your response was, “what’s a battle belt” haha glad you got this set up!
Saw a post below about a guy keeping a pistol in the pocket of his bathrobe ready to go.... I wonder if a Tactical bathrobe should be a thing? Imagining a sleeveless knee length robe with belt loops for a tactical belt and four front pockets... two on the chest, two low on the sides. 🤔
Full plate carrier bathrobe covered in PALS webbing with plenty of velcro for morale patches. Keep the feet warm with a pair of concealed carry SERE slippers.
Honestly, when I set up my belt... from SWAT equipment to the civilian side.... I just used a bit of tape to hold them in place. And wire ties. Always wiretie that shit in place. They don't give or break.
Put electrical tape on both sides off the magazine pouch. Electrical tape is the soldiers best friend:) And one more thing, you must have hearing protection close to that belt. I mean..its a very very must have when shooting indoors. Not pluggs , active hearing protection. Do u call them active hearing in english?
Brian, we all appreciate you demonstrating with clothes on!
Uh, yeah ;-)
DEAD! HAHAHAHAHA!
I would have preferred with them off 😜

The world needs a tactical bathrobe! with velcro built in around the waist for attaching belt.

Lane Dexter sew some heavy duty belt loops on that robe for the gun belt ? Maybe a tactical bathrobe should be a thing 🤔

I added an extra hook next to the bed for this. Glad I'm not the only one. Great video.

My home defense consists 2 german shepherd and a half naked man in underwear wielding a tomahawk in one hand and shield in the other while I let out a battlecry

I would move the tourniquet to the front. You need to be able to reach it with either hand in the event one hand is out of commission.

Stay safe.
All good points
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Hey, good people look out for good people, brother. 👍🏽
May I suggest First Field Dressings/Israeli bandages etc to put direct pressure onto the quick clot packed wound.
Yep
I just finished a 2 day Immediate Action Medical class at Tactical Response. I’ll
Be making an update video on this belt soon showing several changes to both medical and other stuff.
This is a great idea !! Thank you !
All you're lacking is a fig leaf and you'd be covered!
It has worked before
Hey Bryan, you might want to do some research and find a tactical loin cloth to hang on your belt :)) I have one of those telescoping nubby night sticks with a high lumen flashlight at the busy end of the stick...and I'll grab my pistol off my nightstand I keep covered with a towel (nightstand is also a lockable gun cabinet). I made a sheath for the night stick and it's located just in the space between my mattress and the box spring. I always sleep in a pair of oversized Ex-officio boxers as they look like a pair of gym shorts.
"tactical loin cloth" ;-)
As a stopgap, what about duty belt keepers to keep your gear in place? My night rig is an inexpensive nylon shoulder rig, 3 spare mags for a G22 with mini o light, spare small led flashlight mounted next to the right side 2 spare mags, as backup to an AR 9. Sorry, not enough hips or rear to keep a belt up without pants these days.
Try suspenders
Iol, who trusts a man with both a belt and suspenders?
Missing the most important thing - electronic hearing protection. Especially since you’re using an AR pistol indoors
It is suppressed. But yeah, you are right.
VF77 as the proud rider of such a barking little steed--most AR pistol owners have already given up their hearing, or already lost it. Lol
Rah!
yea. many people seem to overlook that. i have a family so i cant have my hearing compromised. communication is important and i'd like to keep it during those hectic situations
Good idea, gonna build one, that cobra buckle is nice.
Stay tuned for version 2 which addresses that
I have a sub2k with a laser/light combo attached underneath and a 33 round mag loaded with hollows. I’ll skip the belt because if I come downstairs at night because I hear a noise I’m not gonna be wearing pants anyway.
That is the whole point of the belt
Great idea. Your belt reminds me of the western gunfighters with a 21st century twist. Now I have to go look for my old military surplus click belt.
draw!
Nice setup Brian!
Thanks
handcuffs just in case and quick clot great job
Thanks.
Thanks for wearing pants when you did your show and tell. :) Good stuff.
;-)
Great vid very informative and thanks for sharing!
Hey got an idea! You can attach a rag all around the belt, so you can avoid embarrassment in the future. You know, like the isolated tribes in Amazon. You're welcome.
You forgot your cell phone case and cell phone so you can call for help if you go outside or chase someone.
Your channel is getting better and better. You cracked me up a few times.! 😂
Glad to hear it!
Now you're talking. Haven't been so excited to watch a video in a long while lol.
I am honored.
You should add some body armor to go along with your belt
Good call
I put together a belt just like that 4 years ago! I keep it in my closet in a small push-button combo safe (2 young kids in the house). The only additional thing I have on mine is a Leatherman.
I considered that
I'll get two of these belts with my Pandemic bucks.
TrumpBucks* lol
Have you seen the video on guns talk media one man vs 4 intruders
I put one together today I put mace on my belt so I have a non lethal option
I would just bring the TQ to the front so you can reach with both hands. But thanks for the idea sir, I will be making another belt.
I’d recommend a padded belt, velcro is more made for a dual belt system with a velcro inner belt, a padded belt would feel better on bare skin and would stay in place better
Cool set up. I'd suggest a cell phone as well. Even an old one that does not have service can be used to call 911.
Bryan your videos are always very inspirational whether I choose to do what you do or take what you do and make it my own, I'm still learning. And having a model like you teaching us is great . Please keep up the great work looking forward to more videos
I appreciate that!
From a retired peace officer you need to move that magazine in the back. When you put something in the small of your back and then you are pushed into something like a fence or a wall you will destroy your back. Move the magazine to either side of your back along the muscle and you will be fine. Nice job.
Thanks
Love the name of the channel Brian good content Love it updates
What a great idea an a great vid to, thx Brian
Glad it was helpful!
Sometimes I answer the door wearing only 3 things, a battle belt, black socks, and happiness
The inforce light is not a durable choice. Also that velcro might not feel too good on naked skin.
I’d keep the tourniquet up front by the buckles so u can reach it with either hand
I set mine up a few days ago then I see this today glad I'm not alone
You are not alone.
Awesome job! I would suggest running the velcro liner over the pouch loops that will hold them in place.
You won't regret it
I would suggest using anything other than a long bladed weapon. It's not as intimadating as you may think and it's very hard to use especially in side of a house. Unless you have a massive open house or only plan on staying in one room, I'd upgrade to a knife or tazer. Much more manuevarble and you don't need to be a samurai to use them effectively
Grizzly assault spray is also good item to have for EDC and home defense
What, no bullwhip? That completes every gun belt man.
Yee hah
Do they still sell this type of belt still at all
Yep see the notes in the pinned comment and the video description.
O ok then
Smart, but move the gear closer to the front
Great idea! A few critiques: Don't have anything covering the small of your back: a fall could cause permanent spinal cord injury. Move more of your gear to that empty space in the front. If someone is on top of you, how easily can you reach behind your back vs. in front of your groin area?
champy1210 True story...nothing in line with the spine👍🏽
Which belt is the one in the video on the website?
this one in 3-ply. Use coupon code SOP20 until Dec 18, 2020 & save 20%. After that the regular code SOP15 will still save you 15% www.klikbelts.com/collections/1-75-duty-belts/products/copy-of-matte-black
@@SurvivalOnPurpose thats awesome thanks!
I'd add pepper spray for something that might not require a gun or knife.
I almost wonder if a bandoleer would be even faster on (though access to stuff would be limited).
Great idea!
Nice, a couple of us were just asking you about battle belts a few weeks ago 😉 I think when you did the klickbelt shotshow video. Your response was, “what’s a battle belt” haha glad you got this set up!
Sometimes I learn
I would have the tourniquet on the very front so it's more reachable by both hands but to each is own, thanks for the vid
Good point.
Very entertaining. I don't know what makes me smile more, a naked man with a pistol or a naked man wearing Batman's utility belt... :-)
Been there done that
I don't intent to be naked while wearing it. But....just in case ;-)
Man! Why didn't I think of that?
Great idea.
Thanks
Honestly, when I set up my belt... from SWAT equipment to the civilian side.... I just used a bit of tape to hold them in place. And wire ties. Always wiretie that shit in place. They don't give or break.
Put electrical tape on both sides off the magazine pouch. Electrical tape is the soldiers best friend:) And one more thing, you must have hearing protection close to that belt. I mean..its a very very must have when shooting indoors. Not pluggs , active hearing protection. Do u call them active hearing in english?
Yes. And that is good advice.
