- Welcome to Dean of Doom, the show where we give grades to classic and contemporary Doom wads. Why? Because ranking things is fun. Yes, I know what day it is, and I'm guessing you do too, so let's not beat around the bush. This year's April Fool's joke is that we really are doing Junkfood, a 2022 supermegawad led by Meowgi, which began as a ten-day speedmapping event soliciting unapologetic BFG splurges made in three hours or less. The resulting variety snack bag was then seasoned with custom sprites and loosely, I repeat, LOOSELY ordered on an ascending difficulty curve. A note for the slaughter curious, Junkfood's Hurt Me Plenty setting replaces all monsters with imps and lost souls, and skills one and two turn health and armor bonuses into invulnerabilities. It’s an unconventional approach to accessibility, but worth trying out if you feel like test driving some gonzo premises for Doom maps. Junkfood is about as wild and wooly a wad as I've covered on this show, so grab some greasy food and get comfortable.
