  • I get questions about skincare fridges on a pretty regular basis. Do you need a skincare fridge? What should you keep in a skincare fridge? That's why I finally decided to do a video on it. BUT to take it one step further, I reached out to cosmetic chemists and dermatologists to find out if you need a skincare fridge or not. Watch this video to hear what they have to say about skincare fridges. Do YOU have a skincare fridge? Tell me in the comments!
THANK YOU to all the experts who joined me for this video.

There is a weird skinny shelf on my fridge door under the big bin where the gallon jugs go and I was keeping pet medications there. It fits the bottles from The Ordinary perfectly. The top door bin where people normally put butter, which has a flip up cover, is also an option.

Love you Susan! I also want to add, it also depends on which part of the world you live in. Coming from South East Asia where the bedrooms use airconditioning, and when it's off, the room and bathroom can get really hot and humid. So a fridge will definitely benefit in prolonging the shelf life of products and also keeping a consistent temperature for the skincare to work at its optimal level.

This is also a waste of electricity. Even if you’re not environmentally conscious, you probably don’t want an increased charge each month on your energy bill over a skincare fridge. Electrical equipment that actively change temperature (e.g a kitchen fridge or a laundry dryer) use the most electricity, so even a small fridge continuously running is going to increase your monthly bill.

I too was very surprised to hear what all the experts had to say about a skincare fridge. I got one about a year ago and I love mine. I suffer from eczema so to be able to put my ointments in it was a plus but to be able to use it also for my skin care was great as well. I didn't need it but I wanted it big difference. I also did my research before I got one so I knew what I could and couldn't or rather shouldn't put in it. But I have enjoyed it since I have gotten it. It is a luxury product and does take up a lot of room so if you don't need it then don't get what in my opinion, even though I do have one. I really enjoyed this video and all the experts opinions on a skin fridge. Thanks y'all

Some people say that fridge is too small. But I would put only my most expensive products I own in the fridge if I were to get one, personally. So, that would be my Skinceuticals vitamin C serum, SK-II pitera essence, any other high priced serums/essences/treatments I have. All my other skincare (like Eucerin or CeraVe moisturizers, petrolatum-based healing ointments, random oils, etc) will just stay out as usual. A bigger fridge would be more costly anyway, I'm sure.

I have a mini fridge but no where to put it right now.. so I have a little container to put certain products in to keep them cool, keep shelf life longer and enjoy the benefits. I put this container in the fridge on the door.
Especially somewhere like Hawaii where it’s hot and humid year round. We keep many things in the fridge to keep from molding. (My bf from the mainland thinks it’s weird lol.)
I get a container to ensure all my products are lid tight and away from food.

I keep my Vitamin C and Lactic Acid in it, along with my Avene and Adapolenes, apparently those really need to be kept cold. I also keep some unopened peptide serums in the fridge. Also my tubes of Retin A are in there, but I don't put my Curology prescription in there.

This video helped so much. I have had a skincare fridge for a year now and I wasn’t sure what to keep in it. I have a face roller and a few sheet masks in mine. I have this peppermint foot cream from lush I keep in there and it feels great when I put it on my tired feet.

i don’t even have space in my bathroom for that😂😂😂😂 but i’ll make it work.
tbh the only reason i wanted i skincare fridge is because of asian woman, they have amazing skin and most of them have skincare fridge, but now that you talked about eczema which i also have... i’ll definitely take in consideration❤️😍

I bought a skincare fridge and it lasted 4 months. Even on sale it was expensive. I just keep my skincare in a regular fridge now.

Maybe you should just use a kitchen fridge save on your carbon footprint

    • @leonamay8776
      @leonamay8776 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes!
If you have space for your skincare in the kitchen fridge? An additional high energy appliance seems really wasteful (and imo negligent).
I love skincare and I understand that this comes with waste, I'm not perfect either. But couldn't we skincare enthusiasts at least try to minimize the environmental impact of our skincare / self care?
