    I finally tried skin fix after a year of considering it. It’s Recommend by so many for dry skin, so I was really excited to give a good go finally. I have dry/acne prone skin and I was so disappointed. It felt like it sat on my skin and never really set into my skin, and with just a couple of hours my skin was feeling dry. It also broke me out more than normal.
    I tested it a variety of ways. I tried it on its own, I tried it along with a peptide serum and I tried it with my personal morning/night time routines. I tried this for over 2 months and sad to say, that after much anticipation it just didn’t work out for me. 💔

      I know it’s been a year since you commented this but I’m currently having the same experience! It’s a moisturizer that’s recommended by everyone but, I agree, it feels as if it doesn’t penetrate as deep as it should??? My skin feels dry and almost irritated after using it! I wonder if it’s a sensation that maybe I’m just not used to? I’m just kind of at a loss because I have used (and loved) the CeraVe night time moisturizer for years but recently it also hasn’t felt moisturizing enough. I’m hoping to find something else soon! Any recommendations that you’ve found over the past year?

    I’ve been using Avéne cica moisturizer/cream. It’s in this little-ish tube. I have never used something so moisturizing. Even after it soaks it it’s still there. In the morning my face feels freaking awesome! Just thought I’d pitch in here.

    Two more tips for dealing with dry skin...make certain to run a humidifier especially during the Winter and in any very dry climate. Also, if possible, invest in a shower or water filter to remove chemicals such as chlorine that are very drying for both the skin and hair. You may even discover that you don’t have dry skin after all and no longer need to use heavy creams, body lotions, or even hair conditioner. Yes... it can make that much difference depending on what’s in your water!

    I have dry skin and my skin around my mouth is prone to dehydration, yet I live in the hot, humid country. Therefore I prefer lighter moisturizer in the mornig. It was really tricky finding a right one that won't sweat you out but still occlusive enough in the morning 😂

    A suggestion for anyone who uses pH sensitive actives such as vitamin C or chemical exfoliants, if using a cleanser with a higher pH make certain to use a lower pH toner so the actives aren’t neutralized when applying them to the skin because they won’t work as intended.

    I hated skinfix. I have dry skin and this moisturizer actually sensitized and made my skin worse. It also gave my skin texture which I don’t normally have. It was awful. I switch to the biossance omega repair cream and this was life changing and so much better than skinfix. It took less than a week using it for my skin to get back to normal.

    I bought two of the Skin Fix during the sale... and got to ROUGE! Alright! Yesterday I bought another limited edition 100ml Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream, a couple of Dr. Jart Tiger Grass creams, and the Westman Atelier foundation stick. I am really much more into soothing my skin these days than I am into makeup. Could I have got the Dior Face + Body, sure. Could I have got the Charlotte Tillbury makeup setting spray, sure. But I am pretty sure we'll be wearing masks for a long time, so I saved some money by not buying those items. Also lately, as soon as I wake up, I am putting something moisturizing on... Strivectin or Ceramidin, or Tiger Grass. Also love the Good Cera from Holika Holika and the snail mucin products from CosRx. My dry skin loves all those things.

      @@psmith3821 it’s surprisingly not as heavy as you would think! I use it in place of my water based moisturizer because it just wasn’t enough for me during the winter. I’m not as oily as I used to be but I do still tend to lean toward oily/combo and it was a good amount of thickness. It kind of feels like a light overnight mask tbh and I also use it with a BHA exfoliator, vit c serum and niacinadmide serum if that helps

    I have dry skin and my skin was REALLY dry last year. I had switched from the Dermalogica cleansing balm to the cleansing oil and even though these products are so similar, my skin really didn't like the oil (didn't realise this was the issue at the time but I know now)! And so my skin was so dry and everything I applied thereafter, felt dry and tight. I saw a video about the Elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm. Oh my goodness, it made such a massive difference to my skin. This is not an insult towards Demalogica because I love some of their other products. But I learnt a valuable lesson about how using the incorrect cleanser can really strip your skin and then it doesn't matter what you layer on top of that, your skin will continue to feel and look tight. Now my skin looks so much better.

    I have a love-hate relationship with lotion. It’s soo relieving on my itchy, dry skin, but it leaves my skin feeling so slimy because I can get overheated easily, and that’s such a weird, icky feeling. My skin would crack and bleed even as a little kid, and so I would try to put on lotion often, but it would feel so weird!

    The skinfix moisturizer was the opposite of moisturizing for me! My skin was tight and red. When my skin is extremely dry I love the Kiehls Centella Sensitive Cica-Cream, other wise I switch between the Dr Jart Ceramiden Cream, Naturium Plant Ceramide, FAB Ultra repair or Milk Makeup moisturizers at night. (I love the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro too, but it’s really spendy and don’t keep backups.) For the morning I like the Kiehls Centella again or the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream or the Naturium Plant Ceramide depending on how dry my skin is that day/time of year.

    Are there any tips/products you can recommend for dry hormonal acne prone skin. Bha tends to make me super dehydrated.

    I have super dry skin everywhere, always flirting with eczema. My skin really loves this type of layering: first serums, then a light moisturizer like a gel or emollient, then a thin layer of squalane oil, then a thick moisturizing cream to lock it in. I find I get a more lasting effect from the oil underneath a heavier moisturizer. Sometimes I’ll use the cerave balm for the second moisturizer, as in slugging.
    Also the hanskin exfoliating oil cleansers are awesome. You can let them sit for a minute at the end as a little mini mask.

      But what do you do in the morning after all that on your face ?

    • @tabathapoelstra
      @tabathapoelstra 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fallguy6196 basically the same. Skip the ointment lol. I make sure to let the skincare sit for 3-5 min so my face feels dry before I do sunscreen. The only trick if to make sure you do pretty thin layers so it doesn’t ball up. Hope that helps!

    Hi Susan! I have a tricky question here. While I add my serum when my skin is still damp from my hyrdating toner... I want to assure that my serum, which has niacidamine, sits on my skin for 5 minutes at least to let the niacidamine do its job. For what I know, you have to wait if using an active ingredient so i can't wait for niacidamine to do its job if I apply instantly my moisturizer. What should I do? I have a bottle of thermal water so maybe before applying my moisturer I could spray it?

      I use an essence like the pkunkang Yul mist toner in between steps. It’s moisturizing unlike just water and is a micro mist so it doesn’t soak your skin but gives a light layer of moisture to help the moisturizer absorb.

      Clinique moistur surge intense: 72H lipid-replenishing hydrator. This is an excellent cream-gel for very dry to dry compination skin. Non-stop hydration, even after you wash your face. Try it !

    For those with skin that is more on the dry side, would a topical retinoid (like prescription strength tretinoin) count as an exfoliator?

    • @angiesplaylist23
      @angiesplaylist23 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have dry/combo skin so I use tretinoin since I'm acne prone. But I still exfoliate once a week (on a day I'm not using tretinoin) because retinol causes skin turnover deep in the skin not on the surface

    I thought I had oily skin for quite some time, but really it seems like what was occurring w/ my skin was over an overproduction of oil because of its lacks of moisture - Is non-comedogenic?! I know that rich formulations can clog pores… also, I too have been guilty of taking much too hot showers😬😬
