Ive seen it mentioned a few places that crime, the homeless, and homeless camps were an issue in Kona. Being that it's somewhat isolated I'm thinking that this must be people from suburbia or master planed type communities that have overblown it, but who knows. When you were there did you find either an issue? Im guessing that any issues they have with either would be similar to what one might find in Key West or possibly Pensacola Beach and nowhere near as big of an issue as in Seattle, San Francisco or New Orleans. We have a 15 year old daughter and would kind of like for her to be able to walk about freely so I'm trying to get an unbiased opinion/information regarding this.
Thank you for this video. I am from Los Angeles and have family on the big island. I love it so much on that island. I had to buy myself a acre of land for myself. Then I had to buy another acre of land on the Hilo side. And that’s other piece of land is for my daughters. But I will say I love the big island of Hawaii and it’s just beautiful over there. But I want to say thank you for this video. I cannot wait to get back to the island.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Good video I just got back from Kona, the only thing I thought was outrageous is the price of parking downtown. $12 per hour thats just nuts. I refused to be robbed this way so made sure any restaurant I visited had free parking but even some of those lots that claimed free parking had those pay signs all over the lot. Even the locals are not happy with this and the city knows its bad policy. However its privately owned lots milking the tourists and fining them heavily if their time has gone over what the time they paid for. I think everyone needs to know about this.
@@iShowUnusualBehavior lol yeah I agree. No sweat off our back, I was just confused bc they seemed miserable despite living in paradise compared to much of the US
I'VE LIVED IN HILO FOR THE BETTER PART OF 2 DECADES. I RIDE OR DRIVE TO KONA ABOUT ONCE EVERY FEW MONTHS. HILO...... IF YOURE EVER IN HILO ON KEAWE AND WAIANUENUE AVE, I HAVE 2 LARGE MURALS ON THE CORNER I PAINTED FOR FREE, YEARS AGO. THEY ARE STILL GOING STRONG!
There are a few places in your video that were either missing context or bafflingly inaccurate. I think you should probably add some corrections and context in the description. I've lived in Kona for almost 3 years and if I didn't know better, I'd come away from watching this video believing all the roads are slow, and many places outside Kona are in it, and that we've had lava related issues effecting this city. Thank you for visiting though. Aloha
Great video! Next time you go there I highly recommend Waikoloa Beach resort area, it is about 18-20 miles north of Kona airport, you drove past it getting to Hapuna Beach. Also the beach just north of Hapuna, Mauna Kea is a really nice beautiful beach! (Little more “secluded” feeling) Love that you last minute vacationed! Will be a trip your kids and wife will remember for a very long time!! What neat experience:) Life is to short and your children grow up fast, enjoy every moment and opportunity to spend with them! Blessings (If you haven’t yet: #1 find Jesus!!!, #2 Buy Bitcoin or Spot Bitcoin ETFs, learn why and just hold it.)
thanks for the tip on other areas to visit in Kona! Yes, very impromptu trip and that was part of what made it so memorable. For the last tips: #1 - I'm thankful my parents raised me in the church and had me baptized when I was a teenager. We go to Victory Life Church in North Texas and love it there. #2 - I'll check out the ETF, I'm more of a boring S&P 500 dollar cost average type investor haha but open to see the performance of the bitcoin ETF.
@@TexasHomesByMike #1 Awesome to hear! #2 Yes do, …my understanding is Bitcoin is actually held by 900+ companies (we know because they had to declare their assets, I think this was just the publicly traded companies) and it makes up approximately 18% of their total assets. Micro Strategies(MSTR) will soon/if not already be on the S&P 500 due to Bitcoin purchasing and they hold 1%+ of all Bitcoin. And from what I can tell Dell computers is getting ready to make serious waves in purchasing Bitcoin or the ETFs. Anyways again, great video! Blessings

Thanks for checking out the video! Jealous that you have some property out there. I’m going to have to check into the real estate prices soon 👀
Are you living on the land that your daughter isn't? If not, are you renting to locals?

They milked us pretty bad while we were there too. Plus, many of the locals were incredibly disrespectful and rude lol I was very shocked
@@TexasHomesByMikethey don’t like your kind out there, boy. Just life sometimes.

Very fair review having visited Kona several times.
Thanks for tuning in
It looks amazing. Nice shirt too
thank you!
The true name of White Sands/Magic Sands is La'aloa
yes ma'am - didn't want to mispronounce it!
Our last trip to Kona was in 2022. I booked that trip 3 weeks before we left, and I thought that was really cutting it close. 3 hours? 😂😂
How was your experience? Yeah man we were pretty irrational! 😂
Pros: Cost of Housing is almost same as Maui; Cons: Cost of living more expensive than Oahu.
Well said!
TY!
