engineering wise it's not possible. an ultrawide would be soft when croped in...........unless they made it 4k/ or even 8k..........however than the glasses would need a bigger processor that generates more heat and needs a bigger battery......which further increases weight and cost (perhaps even a slightly larger camera lens). also wide angle would make them more complicated to use (as you may need to edit/crop videos.....which I think goes against there simplistic nature),,,,,,,,,,,,as for the existing crop, that is likely there so they can image stabilize thevideo (as stabilisatoion the image). Me personally, I have no interest, I would rather use my phone or just buy a new go pro if I want that.......but for sunn-Glasses, there are reasons they stuck with that narrow angle

@@legendp2011 I agree, but that is not the point I'm trying to make. My problem ist not that the hardware doesn't match the human FoV, but that the marketing doesn't match the hardware...

@@jullit31 How does it not match the hardware? You're capturing the world as you see it, being cropped hardly affects it at all.

smaller fov, basically the same resolution and still a missed opportunity for stereo cameras(which could be used in theory for either stereoscopic 3d or stitching the two together for a larger image. I'm probably the only one who thinks a whole other camera is a reasonable cost/value-added solution, though). Presumably the entire cost, or close to it, over the snapchat ones has come from the Ray-Ban brand. The quality of the camera would be easily forgivable if the fov wasn't so tight, which is probably the largest issue I have with them.

These are Snapchat spectacles, owned by Facebook, and owned by Luxottica, the incredibly monopolistic parent company of Ray-Ban, not only are you getting farmed for data by Facebook, but you end up giving money to a facewear manufacturer that not only owns the production of $300 facewear that costs $30 to make, but also owns the stores that these glasses are sold at. Abso-fuckin-lutely not.

God these look so much better than both the original snapticals and the latest gen 3 version.
For me the a peak of something like this is to pair with a smart watch and leave my phone at home or in my car. The Apple watch does everything I need from my phone when I'm out calls texts, and podcasts/music, the only thing it’s missing is a camera.
For me this is competing with a compact digital camera like the Sony Rx100, the advantage should be that these are already out, so it should be much faster to take photos/videos but if they’re too heavy for constant wear then I have to get them out and put them on and in that time I could’ve got a regular camera out.
Great idea, and for creating FPV content I can see the appeal, but they’re definitely fighting with a GoPro head mount and not for regular use

I like the fact that you can say that you’ve got a large frame camera.

I am wondering if this years changes to the company META, and the release of Horizon Worlds has changed you thoughts. I was seriously thinking they could be a great blend in building a 3D world.

It's the same question as to if they will use phone cameras. Phones are basically just as discrete. Thing is, the quality you get isint worth it vs just pirating a better rip.
