Tess, I love your videos. They are helping me progress.
May I suggest that you make a video (or a few each progressively more advanced) that we can listen to while actually skating. Like a workout video, where you, talk, coach, and encourage the listeners through a series of skill drills with minimal instructions. You can "link below" to the pertinent instruction videos so that the listeners can get more indepth lesson but the purpose of the workout video is to facilitate the listeners in going through a series of skill drills.
My point is, while I love your videos, they are very informative and you have a great technique to teaching, I can never remember what you said once I put my skates on and hit the floor to practice.

I totally get what you're saying! I realize you made this comment a year ago. But what you said is what I deal with. I am struggling just to get the confidence to skate on concrete as it is. And what scares me is the fear of falling. I have all the protective gear, but am still terrified. I watch every video I can find on anything beginner level. But when I go out to try and do it, it's as if everything I thought I learned, goes right out the window. And what scares me, is when I try skating on the rough concrete, the second I start to go, I start to trip up on the rough surface. And I am using 78a wheels, so they are the right ones for that type of surface. I need to know how to handle falling when tripped up. To me it seems there's a difference. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but if you trip and start to fly forward, what then? Since it's been a year since you commented on this, do you have any advice or suggestions?

Hey @@this-that57 sorry I am not replying until now. I am 57 as well and am not familiar with all this new internet stuff... I try to keep up but I am always behind (queue up CSN Slowpoke). Thanks for supporting my idea for Tess. To answer your question: no, I don't have much advise other than keep doing it. I think the most important thing is to keep practicing because you can't get better by reading books and watching videos alone. I find myself watching several videos on the same topic until one says something that makes sense. All the videos are made by good people and they explain things in a ways that makes sense for them... but that may not be what you need to understand it. I skated a little when I was a kid (up to 7th grade). I have been skating the past year and a half... 2yrs this Nov. Starting in Jan. of 22, I go skating once a week from 6:30pm to 10:30pm at a rink in Connecticut. I have only gone skating outside once... I need music. The first hour at my local ring is for beginners looking to learn. But beginners is a subjective term.; there are several good skaters who are beginning to try something... and the rink doesn't care as long as you pay for the extra hour. If you were here I would advice you to come Monday night at 6:30. I have learned on my own with the help of other peoples advice and videos. I am now giving advice to others. I think the good skaters are to far removed to remember how it is to be a beginner. But, the people at my local ring are very nice. I get support from many when they see me accomplish something new. It surprises me and makes me feel good. Anyway, I wish you well in your adventures.

@@peter.jcloudas6882 it's fine! I will continue to practice as much as I can. I wish I had a rink to skate at where I live, or even a basketball or tennis court. But I live in a small town in southern Thailand, and there aren't even any parking lots to access! What is available, are some really horrible concrete areas, that trip me up before I even get rolling. But I'm always on the lookout for places that may have a better surface to practice on. What I've been using, isn't even enough to actually "skate" on really. But I do what I can. Glad to hear you're still skating!
