Ive listened to angry young man 10000000 times and I’m gonna be honest, this is my favorite version. The intro is so smooth. Liberty is so fucking good. Billy’s voice in his early was so fucking good. And i find it so cool that he’s playing this and nobody knows the lyrics cuz he just released the song

I had the privilege of blowing my last 5k promoting this concert at Connecticut College's Palmer Auditorium in December 1976. Still remains a highlight of my life. Greatness was all over the board and a few months later The Stranger came out with Just the Way You Are. There will never be another like him.

Liberty DeVitto is the absolute perfect drummer for Billy Joel. I can't put into words. He's as unique as Billy Joel himself, IMHO

A comforting blanket from under which the “pointless points of view” can be thrown at the world. Perfect. Just sublime lyricism. Just swap the maps and medals for a computer. The door is still locked.
We just used to expect this kind of phenomenal musicianship from our pop stars. Crazy how much it’s changed.

I saw Bill Joel somewhere north of thirty times in the eighties. It was always a kickass performance, and I was never disappointed.
This song was always a crowd pleaser.
When covid ends seeing him again is going to be one of my top priorities. He is a living legend and this is my favorite song from him.
The entire album was and still is just right. Love listening now just as did when it was released.
People use the term underappreciated way too much, but one place it clearly applies is the Turnstiles album as it's overshadowed by The Stranger and the others.
Liberty is an underrated drummer.

I had the pleasure of seeing Billy Joel in concert FOUR times-twice, in Houston, Texas-September, 1982/April, 1987; and twice in Oakland, California-January, 1990; December, 1993. Each time-he put on one hell of a show!
First time was Oct 30, 1982, Kansas City, MO, last time was Target Field Minneapolis, MN, July 28, 2017, I won free tickets! My total is nine times live over 15 years and 4 states! Would not have missed a one! I left one out Face to Face Ames, IA, have forgotten the year, but it was August and about Woodstock time, so he suddenly decided to do his Joe Cocker imitation of With a Little Help From My Friends. Also I saw the touring version of Movin' Out. So, 10 times in 15 years!
