Suit up for classic comedy! Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take a chance on going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. As soon as they open their doors, their first order of business becomes saving beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdy Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), who’ve inadvertently opened the gates of hell…right in their own apartment building!

A perfect scene. Just the right amount of comedy, character development and story advancement. Every scene in this film is perfect though to be fair.
Being creepy and sexual to a woman you just met when all she wants is help on the ghost problem

Just realized how gold that opening line is after decades. "If anything happens, I want it to happen to me first". Not only is it a joke that after something possibly hurts him it'll still get her too but it's a double entendre for innuendo about sex acts if something were to happen between them in the apartment since they're alone. Fucking brilliant.
This is the funniest scene in the film. "You''re more like a game show host" is one of my favourite lines in the movie.
The way she looks at him when he is walking up to her after he says, "I'm gonna go for broke." makes her looks so beautiful.
Yeah cause when he said go for broke, she knew it wasn't a *chest burster* and she was safe.
I'm only picking up on these innuendos so many years later.

Yeah, that flew over my head too when I was a kid. But then I realize she’s just pointing out that nothing paranormal ever happened in there.
I consider this is my favorite scene from the Ghostbusters movie and I still have the old dvds

I was wondering if that Ghost Sniffer Peter was using was an actual tool the Ghostbusters use or something Peter just picked up just to make himself look more competent. xD What does it do anyway and what would be the difference between that and the PKE Meter?

3:11 if you look closely you can see a wooden hand behind Peter when he is sitting on Dana's sofa. This foreshadows the frightening scene where Dana is attacked in the armchair by the terror dogs.
Yeah, at first, I didn’t really think of it, but then later on, I connected the dots, especially when I noticed the wooden hand ornament that’s on the table next to the sofa is positioned like it’s popping out of the table, the same way, the hands popped out of the armchair

In the original script, when Peter is ready to go into the kitchen, Dana decides to wait outside. Peter goes in and sees food splattered everywhere and utensils all over the floor. Peter says, "You're a wonderful housekeeper," Dana replies from outside, "I told you--" and Peter says, "I know. It happened on its own." Peter opens the refrigerator door and it cuts to Dana pacing back and forth in the living room. The kitchen door opens and Peter comes out munching on an apple and says, "There's nothing there now. And I don't get any significant reading."(I can totally see Bill Murray doing a take like that) Dana then says that either she has a monster in her kitchen or she's completely crazy.
