I love all the episodes you guys talked about but I think an honorable mention has to be the Golden Lagoon episode. That episode has a lot of emotion behind it and really made you feel for Beachcomber at the end
Webworld, Burden Hardest to Bear, Dark Awakening, War Dawn, and the Return of Optimus Prime. Season 3 had the highest highs and the lowest lows, but overall had so much character and depth. It was different.

I find it interesting how most casual fans will criticize season 3 the most but in terms of story and world building 3 was superior to 2 in a lot of ways. Still since Tracks was one of my favourite characters I enjoyed the Tracks centric episodes with Raoul. It was fun to see new humans get in on the game and I was also happy to hear "Cold Slither" from GIJoe one more time. Oh and let's not forget the season 3 episode where they put Galvatron in a mental hospital. That is one of the most out there scifi episodes of any series let alone Transformers. So many fun character designs, I imagine the artists working on the show got some pleasure out of the creation process.
That episode with Galvatron is one of my favourites, since his insanity spreads to the planet and I believe he destroys it in the end. The panic and desperation in Galvatrons voice, and then the sheer anger and destruction after he gets out... just shows you how much of a threat he is.
“The Burden Hardest To Bear”. It was one of the few episodes to deal with Rodimus’ feelings of inadequacy. Was also cool to see a power-mad Scourge wiping the floor, and one of the few we got with any real development for him. “Webworld”. Hands down my favorite of the whole series. Galvatron owns this whole episode and it was cool to see the bad guys take the spotlight.
I have to agree that mostly the lore episodes stand out in my mind. Though its a crappy episode the one where CObra Commander turns rodimus, arcee and springer into humans stands out in my mind also.
I love Season 1 and 2 but I'm a Season 3 guy. So: 1) FFOD 2) Dark Awakening 3) Call of the Primitives 4) Madman's Paradise 5) The Burden Hardest to Bear
The Search for Alpha Trion was the first episode with female Autobots and introduced Elita-1. War Dawn which showed the Orion Pax/Optimus Prime origin, was several episodes later. The girlfriend Ariel was also rebuilt into Elita-1 during War Dawn but happened offscreen. Both of these episodes are in my top 5.
Difficult to pick only 5! Apart from all the above, I like "Money is everything", where you can see the individual character of each Technobot; you get more from Marissa Fairborne (Flint and Lady Jaye's daugther) and the Transformers Han Solo with mustache. Also they establish the Terrorcons as creation of the Quintessons w/o giving them an origin story, which I find interesting. I also enjoy "Atlantis Arise", because is another spotlight episode of the Dinobots. They wreck everything and they are the triumph card of the Autobots twice in the episode. Couldn't ask for more!
I like Money is Everything too. It almost made my top 11 list. It was awesome to see a female lead done in the right way in a detective cat and mouse chase episode that is normally about giant robots fighting each other, which I like to see giant robots fighting each other. You would think the two genres would not go together, but they pulled it off! they combined the two and it was great. That was one of the best ones. It did not make my top 11 but it makes my top 15 or 20.

It's kinda dark) 2. 'War of The Dinots' / 'S.O.S Dinobots' (Season 1 - The Dinobot episodes. Also the first episodes I ever saw) 3. 'Auto-Bop' (Season 2 - It's the one where Blaster fights Soundwave in a New York nightclub. Tracks and Raoul are there too) 4. The Pilot (aka 'More Than Meets the Eye' or 'Arrival from Cybertron' - It's the pilot. Prime has an enegy axe. Megatron has a ball & chain. All the Transformers have superpowers) 5.'War Dawn' (Season 2 - The flashback one where Megatron murders Orion Pax, but it's okay because he gets turned into Optimus Prime)
My top list: 1) Five Faces of Darkness I like crazy Galvatron. I like insane villians. Arcee was awesome and at her best in parts 1-3. I enjoyed the different worlds where battles were set and Metroplex vs Trypticon. I can't get enough of Kaijo fights. They were just all around fun episodes. 2) More than Meets The Eye Parts 1-4. Great origin story and all around action scenes. 3) The Dweller in The Depths in season 3. Monsters and another great Arcee moment. 4) Forever Is A Long Time Coming in season 3. 5 )Desertion of the Dinobots. 6) Chaos in season 3 because I'm a weirdo who likes swamps and monsters. 7) The Ultimate Doom parts 1-4. I wish they had followed up more on the aftermath of Ultimate Doom because they missed out on world making with that. or 5. 8) Fight or Flee in season 3 because it shows the dangers of excess pacifism in a satirical way. 9) Megatron's Master plan in season 2. 10) Skyfire 11) A Decepticon In King Arthur's Court in season 2.
Love it... most of those are definitely my favs. Here is a spin on it - As a kid I loved the one where the Autobots had to drive through a bunch of explosive crystals and had to rely on Windcharger (one of my fav autobots) to use his magnetic power. As an adult... I watched it with my oldest and realized how stupid and how many tactical mistakes these advanced robots were making. The episode was a giant face palm.
Gotta say the Stunticons creation episode was always a standout to me. Loved Megatrons idea to beat the autobots, you would have to basically become them. Arielbots/Orion Pax episode was fantastic too for all the history. Starscream creating the Combaticons was fun too. Maybe I just love combiners ha
the alpha trion episode is my favorite Optimus prime origin story. He's just a file clerk with power thrust upon him. Stepping up in the right moment to defend his people
In my top 3 that nobody mentioned was the Myan tower with the super gun at the top series and the microchip implant in Sparkplug (and other humans) series. Those made Brawn my favorite character. 👍🏼
Dope episode! For me it would be: 1. Heavy Metal War - Devvy first appearance and a showdown with as Ironhide would say "our dino buddies". Seeing the phase transformation for Devvy made combiners my favorite subteam. 2. Key to Vector Sigma - Seeing the Autobots finally get their own combiner in Superion made of jets and The Decepticons finally get some cars on their team that also was a combiner was dope. 3. Trans Euro Express (name check?) - Basically the episode wear the autobots were in a long car race in Europe with Auggie. All the Autobots got wrecked by the Stunticons and really showed really showed their uniqueness. My favorite moment being when Motormaster pancaked wheeljack by the cliff. 🤣 4. War Dawn - Orion Pax episode, which was cool backstory but for me this the moment wear Superion got to finally be a badass against the headless Guardian. I wanna officially say he Dragon punched the shit out of the Guardian to go through the dome they were in. Love to see it. 5. Starscreams Brigade - More combiner action with Bruticus getting some shine. Extra - the episode where Defensor was rocking one arm cuz First Aid was out meditating or something. I believe he saved a train from crashing against Tripticon.
Good picks. I personally liked Ultimate Doom 1-3. Lots of character focus, including Skyfire, and Dinobots. Multiple story arcs including cybertron, undersea base and on earth. Lots of character gimmicks, like Brawns drill. Transformers surfing. Good ending.
Agree with every one of the selections really. I personally would have honorable mentions of some that feature characters I'm particularly fond of also like Masquerade (come on Bobby, two Menasors for the price of one!), Triple Takeover as it features Blitzwing pretty heavily with a side of Astrotrain, and The God Gambit since Astrotrain actually gets a bigger billing than he did in the aforementioned episode. The Top 5 I'd honestly be highly interested in seeing is a Top 5 "Worst G1 Episodes". Primus knows I'd have Autobot Spike pretty high on that...

I decided to make my own list of my favorite episodes (in no particular order) War Dawn Fire in the Sky Starscream's Brigade Traitor Heavy Metal War More Than Meets the Eye part 3 5 Faces of Darkness Call of the Primitives The Return of Optimus Prime And my favorite episode overall is probably one nobody expected... Megatron's Master Plan, this was my first episode I ever saw, so yeah, kinda biased opinion, but come on, it basically was the inspiration of Shattered Glass, and it was I believe the only episode where the Decepticons truly won... For all of a few hours until the Autobots were able to get back to Earth and duke it out in a battle that felt like it should've been the final episode of S2.
In 5th place - MTMTE part 1 - because it has tetrajets and, according to anyone who likes the Bumblebee movie, that's enough; in all four other places - The Transformers: The Movie - it's four times as long so I'm allowed to pick it four times! ;-)
Love this conversation, a lot of great episodes highlighted here. For me though being younger and having missed seeing Transformers on tv almost completely my favorite episode has got to be season 1's Divide & Conquer. It has some great fights, lots of iconic moments, it features almost all of the entirety of the two opposing factions, shows you Cybertron, the space bridge, has great moments for the human characters. I think it encompasses almost everything cool about the series in a single episode. Then it culminates in an epic battle with Optimus going toe to toe with Megatron. The high stakes of this episode made if feel absolutely epic as a kid. We had it on VHS and it kept me interested and inspired by Transformers for years after the original series had ended.
... Not a single vote for B.O.T... This calls for a Boycott... To not appreciate the cinematic masterpiece that was that episode. Even the Oscar's were too afraid to recognise the brilliance that episode was, for to do so would be to admit no other piece of media may ever compare and thus no more media should ever be made. Ok now that I've made my joke, in all seriousness a great list. I think for me, and I have add arcs as if they are 1 extended episode; More than Meets the Eye Parts 1-3. Megatron puts a bomb in Swindle's head - cool, Megatron tells him the bomb is still ticking when he tries to fuck him around - cool, you see the Protectobots alongside the season 1 bots and cons for the only proper time - cool, Starscream gets called screamer for the first time - cool Cons attack the Ark with a Combiner - Cool Brawl nearly kills a bunch of kids inside a human built robot when they turn him on - has moments of cool Def better than Carnage in C Minor and half of Season 2 in my opinion

WOW "Call of the Primitives" was acknowledged!!! That was one of my favorites because of the extra nice drawings and animation, in a unique angular style, vivid colors, and dark shadows...
I know I loved the cartoon when I was a kid but as an adult I don’t have a favorite episode, I actually think the cartoon was very bad. The only TF lore I like is the IDW MTMTE.

And my favorite episode overall is probably one nobody expected...
Megatron's Master Plan, this was my first episode I ever saw, so yeah, kinda biased opinion, but come on, it basically was the inspiration of Shattered Glass, and it was I believe the only episode where the Decepticons truly won... For all of a few hours until the Autobots were able to get back to Earth and duke it out in a battle that felt like it should've been the final episode of S2.
Honorable mentions should be Only Human(Cobra Commander beats Rodimus Prime) and Dark Awakening(zombie Optimus Prime)

In 5th place - MTMTE part 1 - because it has tetrajets and, according to anyone who likes the Bumblebee movie, that's enough;
in all four other places - The Transformers: The Movie - it's four times as long so I'm allowed to pick it four times!

What does it say about us when we needed the first episode to establish that play pattern and tell us how we were supposed to play with their toys?

Weren't female-coded Transformers introduced earlier than 'War Dawn' in 'The Search for Alpha Trion'? Or Nightbird for that matter.
Good morning everyone
Love this conversation, a lot of great episodes highlighted here. For me though being younger and having missed seeing Transformers on tv almost completely my favorite episode has got to be season 1's Divide & Conquer. It has some great fights, lots of iconic moments, it features almost all of the entirety of the two opposing factions, shows you Cybertron, the space bridge, has great moments for the human characters. I think it encompasses almost everything cool about the series in a single episode. Then it culminates in an epic battle with Optimus going toe to toe with Megatron. The high stakes of this episode made if feel absolutely epic as a kid. We had it on VHS and it kept me interested and inspired by Transformers for years after the original series had ended.
... Not a single vote for B.O.T... This calls for a Boycott... To not appreciate the cinematic masterpiece that was that episode. Even the Oscar's were too afraid to recognise the brilliance that episode was, for to do so would be to admit no other piece of media may ever compare and thus no more media should ever be made.
Ok now that I've made my joke, in all seriousness a great list.

All choices I cant really argue with. But why was Carnage in C Minor and B.O.T. not on any of yals lists?
I never understood the hate for B.O.T... Megatron puts a bomb in Swindle's head - cool,
Megatron tells him the bomb is still ticking when he tries to fuck him around - cool,
you see the Protectobots alongside the season 1 bots and cons for the only proper time - cool,
Starscream gets called screamer for the first time - cool
Cons attack the Ark with a Combiner - Cool
Brawl nearly kills a bunch of kids inside a human built robot when they turn him on - has moments of cool
Def better than Carnage in C Minor and half of Season 2 in my opinion
@@marshallwilson7077 would u believe it's mainly because of the humans? And the ending regarding them leaves a lot of room for interpretation. It's an 80s cartoon, so it doesnt bother me that much, but I've heard that complaint numerous times

WOW "Call of the Primitives" was acknowledged!!! That was one of my favorites because of the extra nice drawings and animation, in a unique angular style, vivid colors, and dark shadows...
Star cream is good. But there's a lot of only ok writing for him.
I know I loved the cartoon when I was a kid but as an adult I don’t have a favorite episode, I actually think the cartoon was very bad. The only TF lore I like is the IDW MTMTE.

Call of the Primitives just for the animation, so so good.
Skyfite went back into the ice because of legal issues. After those legal issue were resolved he thawed out again.
